It's been a long while since I've posted. Anyway, just got back to rebuilding/upgrading my computer after roughly 5 years of absence. I was a little surprised that there is a huge wait list for the video cards, but it make sense because of the supply shortages.

Got lucky in my search and found a Evga 3090 FTW3 Ultra at a local Central Computers store. At first, I called 2 stores to verify stock before going. The first store that I called had 3 in stock, but required me to purchase at least 2 or 3 more other computer components, such as mb, cpu, and something else in order to sell it. As I've already purchased the mb and cpu from somewhere else, I don't see a point going there. Then I called the other store and the rep told me that they had only one in stock at the store and ready for purchase, without the need to buy any additional stuff. That's the place that I went to get the card. So far, I'm happy with my upgrades :)

Congrats & enjoy the card!

Thanks for the explanation, you say I should be able to get an approximate idea as to when I might get an email notification but Im not sure when I  should expect an email.
These are my 2-3080 sign up dates and time, Do you have any idea how long my wait will be?
Thanks for taking the time

....

Might be in next Feb, just thinking loudly with you, I am on the 18th of Sep and 12 hours 8 minutes from ordering my card - 10G-P5-3897-KR, we are on the same queue - and the last drop from EVGA moved like 5:55 hours!! that's a nice leap, so give and take it might be Jan for me, Feb for you, put in mind also some folks buy their cards and move from the queue, maybe not too much but it's still a step forward.

I am an Excel jockey, so I quickly (okay, about an hour) .. put together an example for my 3897 and Hulky87's.

I used Outlook to connect this threads RSS feed, and pulled all of EnewT's summary for the 3897 to calculate ETA:

1) Calculated the weekly movement total, and daily average ~ 44 minutes for weeks 49 & 40 (Nov 30th, Dec 7th)
2) Estimate the number of drops per week ~ 2.5
3) Calculated the difference between date/time of the last received order notification and my order notify in hours:min
4) Converted delta to minutes and divided by the daily avg in minutes to get the estimated number of days left
5) Calculated Est # Weeks to Order Notify (based on drops per wk) by dividing the # of drops per week (2.5) by #4 above
6) Calculated Estimated Time to Order Notify by multiplying the weeks left #4 and drops per week #4 resulting in a date / time
7) Calculated Estimated Time to Order Notify(Corrected for drop day) - If #6 is > Thursday, push to next monday

So Hulky87, my educated guess is that your notify created on (9/29/2020 6:33) is estimated to be delivered on (Monday 12/17 at 12:20AM), so really that should be Monday afternoon or Tuesday since drops will not happen that early.

Mine is (10/7/2020 0:52) so my estimate is WAY later ( Thu 1/7/21 12:20 AM

I can predict that I am going to get a lot of requests to calculate theirs, but it was tedious pulling information from the posts for one SKU since the information is not in a spreadsheet.  EnewT if you can create or have a consolidated spreadsheet of your daily summary I could enhance my spreadsheet.

I hate to be a seagull, but I'm gonna be a bit of a seagull.  (swooping in unwanted, and pooping all over things)

There's some nasty log math needed here, and while there may be enough public data to figure it out, I really don't know where one would begin.

The massive number of front-loaded notifies resulting in seconds of movement, and now we are in a point where we see hours, because the overall volume is diminished.  There's another upcoming (expected) glut of notifies from 10/5 (as enewt has reminded us regularly) so we could drop back into the seconds again.

Calculating a daily average (as you have done) can go a long way to normalize for the purposes of getting an average, but that is a flat rate that I don't think will scale, due to the lack of uniformity in the notification registration times.

Then, on top of all of this, it must be considered that production may be slowly ramping up, scalping purchases should be slowing as most of the high wealth low patience customers have probably already been served.

Irregular notification counts to churn through, diminishing demand, increasing production rates.  I applaud anyone trying to take on such a nasty bit of calculus absent input variables for total number of requested cards/outstanding demand, and a solid estimate on flow rates of incoming stock.

IMO, Enewt is providing the most absolute bestest possible method of tracking this (until Jacob sneaks him a dump of the queue DB with the model number and request date fields)

Just as a thought project of course: could always scrape this forum thread for the timestamp codes + google doc + subreddits (nvidia, evga, and teamevga) to get more accurate predictions. Of course, sounds fun, but I got enough xpath python scrapers running now for research.

Well glad yours is on it's way, that's awesome.   I got onto the recent Auto-notify at 9:20am even though I started refreshing at 8:58am lol.    It literally was a dead page from 8:58 to exactly 9:20am when the page FINALLY appeared and I hit that notify button as fast I can humanly could.

It boggles my mind that many got in at 9:08am etc

Ah well, the camping is over. It's nice to know I'm on the list and it doesn't need my watchful presence anymore.

ROFL reading that.  And I would burst out laughing on the phone and hang up.   Imagine calling Dominoes Pizza and you go to order a pizza and they tell you that you cant get one unless you also order cheesy bread, wings and drinks with it.

What business refuses to sell you something in their store unless you buy other things as well?

Yea I know right. I guess that particular branch/store needed more money or really desperate to sell more other stuff.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2020/12/13 02:33:50 (permalink)
I don't expect the scalping market to dry up until after Christmas, right now people are still scrambling to get GPUs for gifts, which is why the scalping market is still quite profitable (you can make north of $200+ on a 3080 easily, and north of $300+ on a 3090) - Once Christmas season is no longer upon us, I expect the EBay prices will slowly slip down, and once that dies down, the supply vs demand should also normalize within a few weeks... but, according to NVidia's suppliers etc, NVidia's supply itself will still be a problem through all of Q1 of 2021.

Yeah I think mine came back up around 9:08, but I waited til 9:15 because I was ideally trying to keep the notify from coming to me until next week... but alas, I got called up, worked some magic on EBay/Paypal to sell my RTX 2070 Super I had sitting on the shelf waiting for Step Up Queue since October, transferred that money to my bank account right quick with their instant transfer, and made the purchase before the email link needed to be reset (contacted eVGA to do that before I worked out that transaction, it's cool they were willing to "hold my position" for me).

I'm looking forward to playing with an Apex GPU for the first time since I had 2 Titan Xp's for a few weeks.

"Buy EVGA cards that are step up eligible"

I looked to see if EVGA had such a list but never found it, does a list exist or do we need to just buy a card/register it and try to apply for step up?

Thanks

Any card purchased *NEW* from an *authorized retailer* with a -KR ending part/model number is eligible for Step Up as long as it is registered in the specified amount of time (within 30 days of purchase).

Did * * on the very importante parts.

It's explained in great detail on the Step Up program page.

Does anyone know how the Step-up queue is moving along? I'm on the list for a 3080 FTW3 Ultra on the Step-up.

Absolutely not moving much at all, at least on the 3080 FTW3 Ultra front - I had a 2070 Super that I signed up for it, finally decided to heck with it & resold the thing (since I got a 3080 FTW3 Ultra already from the queue system).  The Step Up to my knowledge has moved even less than the actual queue-system for the FTW3 Ultra has.  Not sure why, I think right now eVGA are prioritizing getting new cards out to new buyers, and perhaps they're scrutinizing the Step Up queue especially for scalpers, since that would be an easy way to get multiple GPUs to resell - buy eVGA cards that are step up eligible, make multiple accounts (not that hard to use a neighbor's address or what not) and sign them all up for step up to the high end GPUs.  Just a theory, but who knows... what I do know is the movement on the Step Up queue has actually been atrocious.

Would love one of these youtubers to slip some industry deets on how many gpus Nvidia is sending companies like evga weekly.

The supply issue, and scalper prices is 100 percent on Nvidias shoulders.  They don’t give a crap about the scalpers , or bots, as long as they are shipping chips and creating positive/ negative buzz about demand, it keeps them relevant.  With how long this crapshow has been going on, it’s very clear Nvidia made zero changes to this process. Instead of having FABs fulfill 90, 80, 70, orders to meet demand to partners, they release the 60 s, with rumors of other ti s on the way.

great products but not a fan of nvidias business practices or mentality

The problem would be getting ahold of that information, as any company that leaks it, regardless of who the leak comes from, would very likely be punished by NVidia for it in terms of their priority getting chips etc. - especially given what NVidia tried to pull against Hardware Unboxed on YouTube recently, I wouldn't put that past them at all.

I agree with you completely that further diluting the chain doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I do expect that, once we get the Ti/Super refreshes on the higher end GPUs, they will probably discontinue the original lines immediately so they're not splitting chips between the cards - much like the 2080 sort of ceased to exist for the most part after the 2070 Super & 2080 Super came out.  The 3080 Ti unless it's in the $1k range, will likely eliminate the 3080, and if there's a 3070 Ti, that would further serve to make the 3080 obsolete, especially if they both have a 20GB/16GB version respectively.
What I'm really curious about is if they actually have a 3090 Ti-type card in their plans.  Given that the 6900XT was sort of underwhelming in terms of it "beating" the 3090 consistently (it trades blows with it but doesn't "beat it", however at it's price point, for non-RT games, the 6900 XT is a much better purchase than the 3090, if you can find one in stock), I would suspect that if they do have a 3090 Ti/Super planned, it won't be for a while now, at least 4-6 months out.

yea, the hardware unboxed fiasco reconfirmed to me nvidias crappy business and marketing philosophies.  As someone that works with influencers in a different industry, it truly is a poor response from nvidia. Maybe between unboxed and now jay likely to be blacklisted, perhaps someone would speak up.

agree with what you said, but I really hope nvidia doesn’t expand the ti line anytime soon, especially when so many people likely won’t be able to get any cards until months into the new year, if at all

Hopefully this is something that was being directed by the particular jerko Jay called out by name during his video, the guy that's their product director or whatever, and he eventually loses his job... if it's the company's viewpoint as a whole, that is really bad.
Like Jay said, I would compare this to the ridiculous practices the likes of Apple has - I consider Apple to be one of the most evil companies on the planet for many, many legitimate reasons - so that's not a good comparison to be put in.

I'm just glad that eVGA is being as helpful & transparent as they can be, without ruffling feathers on the NVidia end of things, to get us cards in every way they can & take care of real customers first.

I'm just glad that eVGA is being as helpful & transparent as they can be, without ruffling feathers on the NVidia end of things, to get us cards in every way they can & take care of real customers first.

great point- not sure if it’s just the rep from nvidia, or the company as a whole.  Linus has mentioned before that the CEO watches the YouTube vids - wouldn’t be surprised if there is a forced hand somewhere based on potential exposure numbers of the influencers.

evga I believe is the only company doing the queue, so really appreciate their approach. I think as consumers, we always want more transparency - would love to see more hard numbers, or even a more official way to track the queue instead of having a forum member volunteer to hunt down notify times across channels (bless you enewt!).
Understand there are more factors at play, but just more wishful thinking on how things could still improve.

Which one are you refering to game promo wise?  I believe the 3070 would only come with that silly Falconer game - the COD game currently on promotion is for 3080/3090 purchases only... *momentary pause as I realize I get it free*

Oh, information from the promotion page for that particular promo:

"*While supplies last. Game code offer good for a qualifying purchase of EVGA GeForce RTX 3080, EVGA and GeForce RTX 3090 beginning Friday, October 30, 2020 through Monday, January 11, 2021 or while supplies last. Redemption period ends on January 11, 2021 or while supplies last"

If it runs similarly to how the Watch Dogs Legion one ran (got that with my 3080 so I experienced they system first hand), NVidia is "refreshing" AIBs like eVGA with codes every so often, so they may not have codes currently available, but will refresh the page with new ones in a few days. - You can also hit-up JacobF when he's perusing the forms & ask him to shoot you a message for one, if you have a qualifying purchase but the site is giving you issues, he's taken care of a few folks that way.

Important not for everyone getting a new GPU on 4.0 bus with a riser card. Get rid of it I’ve had nothing but problems when I installed the 3090 ftw3 ultra my system kept crashing rando which I put to the over clock of the ram. Artifacting on the desktop. keyboard presses not registering. windows alert sound sounding buggy. All fixed but removing the riser card and installing the GPU horizontal directly to the motherboard. Hope this can speed up someone’s resolution time so they can enjoy game play 😏

Just check the tracking on my 3090... it's in the local hub-city closest to me already

Maybe by some small miracle it will make it's way from the sorting/processing facility, to the local carrier facility before Monday morning - I know for a fact that driver for out here is a nice guy, if he sees a package for someone he knows, like me, that is there but is tagged not to be delivered to such n such day, he'll just bring it out early (most drivers will not do that because it's more work for them on a given day).  He also knows if I see something is out for delivery on tracking, there's a 75% chance I'm hunting him down & saving him the trip out to bumfork Egypt where I live to deliver it. lol
At worst, I think it'll be here Tuesday, given it's already ~50 miles away now instead of over 500.

Can someone tell me why I can’t auto notify for the 3090 KPE?
EDIT: I see people are waiting for it to “open back up”. I’m so ready for this world wide ****zu to be over.

I hope 3080 gaming cards start moving I've been without a descent gpu since day after thanksgiving......  I am not spending $400+ to get a gpu that was similar performance wise,  then turn around and get my my planned and now semi needed upgrade.

Looks like my notify for the 3090 will trigger before my step up for my 3080. Not sure if I should wait for step up or pull the trigger on the notify. The thought of having 3k worth of GPUs doesn’t feel good, hah. I can flip the 3080 of course, and recoup costs, but the hassle to sell it sucks.

Hello, I'm a bit new to this. I put in for a 3881 on 9/17/2020 at 6:18:22 PM PT.
Based on my understanding, I am 15 hours, 14 minutes and 22 seconds away from the queue.

Anyone have a rough estimate or loose guidance on when I may see a notification? (Days/weeks/months?)
Thanks a bunch, and best of luck to all.

No one really can give you that unless youre minutes away. Depends on how many people signed up at the same time that will dictate how long it’ll take. Look at the bright side tho, the cards are mainly made in Taiwan, according to their holiday calendar, I dont see any holiday from now till February ( lunar new year 🧧), and the covid didn’t hit them as hard as the States, so fingers crossed it’ll move quicker in the next couple of months.

and you’re actually 27 hours from the latest queue position . They dont make Black cards as much as ultra and ftw3 ultra so it’ll take a while. I suggest you sit back relax and come back in a month or so

Or, press his/her luck on either Best Buy (usually Tuesday or Wednesday 10:45-11:00 ET) or on Newegg. Newegg usually does fairly good drops at night at 7:30 ET. This is when they drop their combo deals (which I wouldn't recommended you get unless you actually need all of the items), but they also do drops of the single GPUs as well. They only announce the combo deals on Twitter and everybody is usually only searching for them and not the actual GPUs. This is how I got my EVGA 3080. A few EVGA, gigabyte and ASUS 3080 skus went live during on of their combo deal drops and were up for at least 7-10 minutes before going out of stock. I've seen this for both 3080 and 3070 EVGA GPUs. Obviously it won't always be 7-10min, but the particular drop I went through must have been fairly large. And, like I said, most ppl are refreshing for the combo deals and not the GPUs.

If the queue moves good then no more then 2 months. Maybe sooner, we are still on the 18th. Good Luck. Im just hoping for a big big drop before the holidays.
