I'd still prefer a 3080 and something with better cooling, so I've messaged a friend who's been looking for longer than I have to see if he wants it.  Unlike me, he has the kinds of responsibilities that make it infeasible to wake up super early to spend 30-90 minutes fighting through the rush to sign up for a new queue.

My wait is finally over! A huge thank you to everyone who has helped with keeping track of the queue and keeping this thread entertaining (especially enewt, I used your associates code). I will be posting updates of my build in the MODS RIGS section of the forum once I receive my GPU for anyone interested.
 

 

If anyone has a 3080 Ti card they don't want, either the 3953 or FTW3 model, I'd be happy to take it off your hands.  Recently I got a notify for the 3953 and put it into my all-purpose server.  It does folding at home much better than the 3070 I had and I don't mine with cards so I'm pretty happy with it and sold my 3070.  It got me thinking that I don't really need the 3090 in my main PC (that I was extremely lucky to grab from walmart last year), given performance stats I could just as easily use a 3080 Ti instead.  Feel free to PM me.  Thanks.

Surprisingly, my friend passed on the 3080 ti.  Or maybe his wife decided he was passing on it; I'm not going to ask.
 
Thinking about this more, I'm not sure what to do.  I'd still prefer a 3080, but then I'm guessing most of us would, and a ti for a higher price is better than no upgrade at all.  I'd do a trade, but as far as I can tell, no one's trading away a 3080 for anything but scalper-level cash.  And at that price, the 3080 ti is actually cheaper.
 
On the other hand, $1,200 is a lot of money for a graphics card that I'm only using for gaming.

I know right. I remember just after the new year, I saw that it was like 16 hours away from "my time" then the weeks and months dragged on.... and on.... and on. Just the other day I was sure it would be sometime in October that I'd see my time come up. Wild day.
