Hi all longtime!
Im thinking of buying myself this motherboard. Does it have a full motherboard waterblock like the nb, sb and mosfets or vrms?
Cheers.

Do you know if there are any plans to cool anything else on the mobo?
Thanks

It has been over 2 months since you stated it would be 'weeks' Nate, I understand life gets in the way for all of us
but logging into a forum and giving an update only takes 5 minutes or so.
When you finally read this could you please organize refunding my initial deposit.
Had I have known it would take this long, I never would have ordered the block in the first place.

Whatever is getting in the way of your progress, I hope it is not too serious.

Thanks

Feel the same. "It's done when it's done" doesn't work when you take money in advance.

Nate, whatever is going on I hope you're able to resolve it and continue to make blocks. You're doing an doing an awesome job considering you're one guy doing this for the community. Unfortunately the wait for the block is too long for me so unless you're able to deliver the block by Dec. 11th, I would also appreciate a refund for the deposit.

I talk to koolance and they told me they need 500 blocks made for them to make it. I guess they don't think that many people are buying dark mobo.

Was wondering what is the performance level. Also are you going to be selling any?

Performance level is something very hard to quantify I would have thought. What are you after? Before and After VRM Temps?

And if you read through the thread, you would be able to answer your second question as quite a few of us have already put down a deposit for the first batch, with some more people awaiting a second.

performance is hard to answer since I have no way to test it, but as always it will outperform the factory block.
My apologies to all for going off the grid.  When it rains if pours.  between work, my entire family getting sick, and having an operation, and countless interruptions, its been a past few months I could really go without for the rest of my life.  I don't like to air out lifes difficulties, but if I take a sick day, I have no employees to help.  its just me.  I wish things were different.

This is one reason I don't accept all the money to do any project.  You all have paid for raw materials to begin the project.  All deposits have a chunk of copper sitting in my basement.  Life gets in the way of us all.  This has been a rough year for me on all fronts.  I know ive been pretty slow, and I can't offer enough apologies lately.

No apologies needed Nate, life can sometimes be overwhelming! However, if you could give us all maybe a rough idea as to when we might be looking at the first batch of blocks, I think that would go a long way.

Are we looking at getting them this year? Early next year? A few more months than that?

I know that you need to finish some X79 Extreme11 blocks first and then you'll get started on ours. Can you give us any sort of time frame?

Cheers

This^, I also understand your issues but this block has put me off my build, I do not want to set it up on air
first. Please let us know when you foresee the first batch being completed.
I understand materials have been bought already using the initial deposits so am prepared to wait
but a time frame is pretty important Nate.
Thanks bud, hope things start looking up for you.
Cheers.

Thanks for the update nateman_doo.

I appreciate the info. Hope everything is going well at home.

Please also don't feel that my asking is trying to get you to rush. If you have time then I'd love to see some work this week, but if not. That's OK too, just wanted to know were we where at, so I can get a better idea of when these might land.

I'm about to install another PSU into my PC which requires be to pull down the system, so I'll postpone that re-build if these blocks are only a few short weeks away. However if they will be another month or 2, then I'll just do another rebuild when the blocks arrive.

Thanks again nateman_doo. Can't wait to get this all installed and show off my "Custom Nateman_doo blocks"!!

Nate,
It has been three weeks since we last communicated. Will you need the board for the second batch as well? I am haveing serious issues with my current build and I am hoping the Black board will cure these issues but I could be wrong. Keep plugging away and when you can  get her back to me safely as you did last time. Can you mount the blocks this time just incase. and like I said the 8 pin power plugs from my PSU caused me to modify the P67 block to allow them to fit. I still would like that chipset block if you make it.

I am in my basement getting the machine ready for the batch.  I have to make a fixture plate, drill, and tap it.

After:

Nothing special yet.  Just a flat surface.  It has to be flipped over, surfaced, and the edges cleaned up.  I hope to finish that today.

I guess I am not savvy enough to recognize which piece this is, can anyone elaborate? I see the VRM waterblock on the OP, am I being overly excited in thinking you are making a full waterblock for the dark? If thats the case I will be placing an order when you are ready. good luck!

The piece in the picture is simply a very solid and very flat piece of aluminium nateman_doo can screw down to the CNC table, and also screw down a few blocks of copper to make more than 1 block at a time. This is the first thing needed to produce these blocks more than 1 at a time.

If you check-out nateman_doo's X79 Extreme11 thread, you'll see he's made a similar base that can make 4 blocks at a time.

Great to see this underway nateman_doo. Really looking forward to this.

Hope you're having a good christmas season so far!

sadly an evening full of machining, and all i got was 4 bad holes, and a broken coaxial indicator.  One day things will go my way.  On the bright side, I fixed the indicator, and I know what needs to be done.

Not to leave an empty thread, I took a picture of machinist pr0n... a super smooth surface.  would rival some lapped CPU's.

Re: EVGA X79 DARK WATERBLOCK *prototype finished!* 2013/12/05 06:23:43 (permalink)
so now I am where I wanted to be the day before:

A disgusting chunk of metal (with oversized bolt holes)  ready to be made into the fixture plate to hold the dark blocks.

had to fix this indicator, which finally works to get to the center of each hole to bore them out larger.  Really this has nothing to do with the block, but just to show you what goes into the start of a new block.
