ScorPion359 Scarlet-Tech "Oh.. things get moved off the homepage often, so it isn't a big deal. No idea when they will launch the x299 motherboard. Hopefully they launch something soon. I am beginning to think they have lost multiple cargo ships." - drivel !!! The physical absence motherboards should not influence on the web site (!) - On which there are no pages with a description of motherboards and prices!
You may not understand the joke.. all of EVGA's hardware seems to move on ships. Since no motherboards have been announced, no hybrid kits have come up in nearly a month, and very little stock of any items has appeared, the joke would be that it was all on cargo ships that went missing. Now, if you don't like when people joke, you may want to take a short break from the internet until EVGA posts news. At this time, they are the only ones that have the answer, and they won't post until they are good and ready. Until then, I will make jokes. Furthermore, I can't tell if you are getting upset that I enjoy talking to people or what, but you seem to be taking my jokes to heart. I advise against that, as I don't work for EVGA, and all I do is try to help around the forums and edit vulgar language out of posts.. the only responses that matter when it comes to EVGA stock come from the people that have "EVGA_tech" at the beginning of their name. Those are the only people that work for EVGA.

Fingers crossed for you. When they do release, I hope you can grab a board out of the first batch... EVGA will sell out quick.

bcavnaugh EVGA is Never Late, EVGA Arrives on EVGA Time NOT on ASUS's Time, MSI's Time, ASRock's Time, Gigabyte's Time, or any other Company's Time.
Then why did I have to buy 1080ti's from a different company because FTW did not exist until a month after the launch? :/ Now it looks like EVGA Dark x299 (my first choice) is going to be late to the party as well.
I know that is really the only mobo that would make me even consider X299, but if they take too much longer, i'm not going to bother, I really wanted to build an all around EVGA Die Hard Theme build, with the new DG-7 cases (STILL DOA ON WHEN THEY RELEASE WE KEEP GETTING TEASED), the 1080ti FTW 3, I already have SuperNova 1000W PSU, the X299 Dark, AND the CLC EVGA AIO 280MM. So I feel your pain and I'm about to say forget it and go with the more exciting Threadripper Build or 1600X that I been back and forth between. =(

@EVGATech_DaveB How are those manuals coming? Any chance they will be posted soon? Or is there any way you could post the PCIe lane/M.2 break down for the X299 Dark here? We are just dying for any info. Thanks!

Wow. We don't even have manuals yet. This board is at least a month out, which sucks, because it's the only mATX x299 with SLI.

Honestly I am not at all upset that they are working on getting this motherboard right (assuming they are doing this) as opposed to rushing it out onto the market like some giant corporation that we know of... This also gives me time to fully assess how poor a job Intel did with this release and see how Threadripper performs.

It's fallacious to assume that spending more time on a product will make it better. ASUS has motherboards available now that outperform what these are specced for. It's interesting you call what Intel has released a "poor job" given that the 7900X is the first consumer processor we've seen that can maintain sub-90 degree temps at a 4.5 GHz overclock on 20 threads. Try overclocking a Ryzen chip to 4.5 GHz and compare the temps. You'll find that even the Ryzen 1800X, with far fewer threads, can't manage the OC at all.

Your comparison dosen't work. I overclocked the 1800x of a friend to 4ghz at 1,28Volt and it runs at 68°C under full load (corsair h110i). Ryzen isn't limited due to it's temperature, it's limited by the voltage and it's production process. According to amd this will be solved with the next stepping and furthermore, next year with the shrink to 7nm.

You have me intrigued.. please elaborate how a motherboard outperforms what these are specced for.

Rather, it is your initial comparison that is hypocritical. You praise Ryzen while it performs objectively worse than the 7900X. And yet somehow the 7900X is a poor processor, despite being far ahead of any consumer HEDT Intel has ever made, and at half the price of the 6950X? In what world does that make it a poor processor? Sure, X299 might be a poor architecture, but the processor is by far the best sub-$1K proc out there.

"sub-$1k"... by a penny. Anyway. I finally decided on going i9-7900X with an EVGA Dark board... only to find this thread and the current speculation (from forum members, not EVGA employees) that the board is still a month out. Where the heck did my planned "All EVGA" build theme go? I mean, the only EVGA part I have for my new system is the 1080 TI SC2 Hybrid. Actually, it's the only part, period. It would've been nice if they had something like a barebones (no overclocking, no SLI certification, JEDEC only speed RAM, etc) board available now, that you could then step up to a more fully featured board when it arrives.

After the x99 launch and the time it took for EVGA to get the bios where it needed to be, I would definitely rather see some of the kinks worked out as much as possible before the end user receives a board. I do wish that EVGA would be a little more transparent on what is coming and some general timelines, so that it would ease the minds of the users.

- Half the price? 7900x 1100€vs. 6950x 1500€ - far ahead? LoL, have you read any reviews so far? 7900X is in many applications behind the 6950X. Not to mention the powerdraw and the heat. 7900X @ 4,6GHz(1,3V) and it pulls over 440 Watt from the wall and it's still getting hot af under a custom water cooling loop - what do you want with this crap? Both, Ryzen and Skylake-X need optimization, but there is a big difference between these two. Powerdraw and temperature will stay the same at skylake-x and that is a big disadvantage.

Reading all this reminds me of previous X-58/X-79 yada yada yada threads. In all that time, in all those threads of discussions of merits, drawbacks, design features and flaws somehow EVGA survived. Especially given that half the posters would foretell of a soon to be pronounced dead EVGA. Nice to know nothings changed.

EVGA sells out of boards every time, and every time, people say they won't buy EVGA if it happens.. yet, EVGA still sells out... If no one buys their boards, how do they sell out, lol.

Maybe it's some sort of (failed) psychological ploy to get others to not snap up all the boards before they do?

Would like to know if the EVGA dark is affected by the VRM temperature fail with the 7900x or 7980xe, at least I see two 8pin CPU power connectors that's a good thing. If it is affected, are you guys going to fix it before shipping out the motherboards? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7BqAjC4ZCc

Currently it doesn't suffer from any of these issues that are known to the public. EVGA hasn't released the board yet, so they may be internally testing this and seeing if there is anything they need to do.

For those asking and curious about pricing, look at the history of EVGA. The x99 Micro was released around the $239 price range. The x99 Micro 2 was later released around $239, and the original x99 Micro seemed to go EOL from there. The x299 Micro was just listed near the same price, at $249. If you look at the release prices of last gen boards, it may be close to what EVGA is releasing now. Also, look at the old reviews that show the release prices. I wouldn't go off of the prices on the EVGA webpage now, since they may be lowered as the x299 boards roll out.

It resembles the x79 Dark. History doesn't stop at x99.
