Curious how you make out with that board. On EVGA stuff, I know that I am told that single dimm per channel is supposed to improve OC headroom, but that being the case, why not layout the board like aZ270 board with all 4 dimms on one side and leave the real estate on the other side for VRM or other components?
I'm guessing to prevent crosstalk/radio frequency interference with traces from the memory to the CPU so you get higher overclocks with less chances of having issues. Asus did the same thing so I'm thinking that the CPU pins itself is setup so on the left pins are near channel A,B and the right pins are closest to channel C,D. Also the shorter the traces the less signal attenuation. I don't know if your CPU could emit radio frequency but if it does and with enough power your CPU can cook a pot of turkey which is running faster than the microwave oven at 2.45GHz. It's amazing how all these even work.

If you are not planning on using SLI, you could use a PCIE adapter and put an M.2 on the slot instead. Artah

Yes, only 4 DIMMs to help optimize peak memory OC. As for the reason why they are not all on one side, whenever possible it is best to keep all memory traces the same length, it can really help in memory stability, especially with faster memory and higher channel count. The harder/faster everything is pushed the more fine tuned and precise all the engineering has to be; things become important that were barely relevant a few generations ago.

cateno hello strange expensive price for EU for EVGA dark and FTWK german shop They were coming some time ago, there was also a price tag. But, now no longer available. This strongly suggests a delay in the release and likely changes on the motherboard. I hope that the (Dark) release will not go on for months. Which is my own favorite. Best motherboard worth the wait. Would it really be nice to get an estimate of the release and manual?

Thank you for the information. Probably the EU's availability is at the same time.

Hey Dave, Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Do you know if these MB will use the VROC (Virtual Raid Over CPU) technology, like on the Asus MB? (If I'm correct, it will be controlled by the CPU / Skylake-X Gen correct?) I couldn't find anything around here saying they will. If so, (since I don't plan to SLI), I could use the M.2 PCIE adapter, and RAID0 it directly from the adapter. I don't know if it is possible to RAID0 two m.2, one on the MB, and the other one in the adapter.

Sempteber is logic time, because Intel Skylake-X is launched before time. But that will not help much to Intel, maybe 2-3%. Intel's next platform will be killer. I only could say that, I think they search way to build something really special and dominate again as they done with i7-920 and i7-965 before 9 years. That was chaos, special when people success to OC i7-920 nicely. i7-950 is launched next year for almost double price but people reach his clock easy with i7-920. That was time. I think Intel is capable to repeat similar situation. They have money and knowledge and need to design new powerfull Core. Only Intel is changed, now think more about price. But to be honest price of Intel Processors compare to Intels Processors before is higher but not as price of NVIDIAs GeForce Graphic Processors. Their price for most powerfull segment is almost doubled from period of 6-7 years.

Yea dark is the best looking x299 board hands down, would be nice to see it released soon but I'm guessing they're waiting for some 18-core cpu samples to make sure it's capable.

There really is no reason to wait for the 18 core CPUs as they can just issue a BIOS update with new microcode when new CPUs are released. Not to mention it would really be a shame if the board didn't come out until October. My guess is they are doing more testing on these boards and want to make sure there aren't going to be any problems before they release them. Let's hope we see the boards by at least September, if not sooner.

Shame. Ek could have made a really slick looking mono block for this. Those new apogee heirloom cpu blocks might fit the color scheme really well tho.

Geez I hope not if you are talking about EVGA Dark, don't give them ideas. This board is stripped down with a few non OC essentials removed so less components, less soldering, etc.

I'm really hoping they stay with the $399 price point. More than that would be rough.

Thanks for your opinion and orientation Dave. I think there are two ways to make the RAID config. 1 - Via VROC PCIE x16 adapter (for a huge array of M.2 config via PCIE. Limiting to INTEL m.2 only for boot drive) / 2 - Via Chipset, as we always did before, but, with use of any m.2 for boot drive. But this is new, I don't know if the CPU and Chipset can mix this type of info, to create an array, one from the m.2 port on the board via chipset, and the other one on the adapter via CPU. Either way, for the moment I can only wait and see the results and test when it arrives to the customers and reviewers. Since these MB hardly will come to Brazil (at least with a fair price), I will need to import these, so, it will require a lot of study for me to see what will be better. Again, thanks very much Dave.

I think those days are over when they didn't agree on things and ek stopped making blocks for EVGA GPUs (unconfirmed info). Maybe things will change someday but I was asking around my contacts and I was going to produce some blocks at least for the VRM that fits on the chokes and fets but unfortunately it's not going to be a worth while investment in time and energy unless there is tons of people that would buy them.

EK makes blocks for most EVGA gpu's, but I don't think they make them for the motherboards.
