Anyone know a rough release date for this? just bought a stinger board but would rather go x299 if its not still 6mo out. Saw they put the x99 boards on sale so maybe soon?

For real. Can we get some kind of estimate at least? Especially for the Dark? I'm sure a lot of us would feel better knowing something. To wait with absolutely no time table and no communication really sucks. And how about posting the Dark manual? At least let me read about the board. Give us something..please.

I've never used anything but ASUS motherboards. Still have a ASUS X58 and a Core 2 Duo era ASUS board as well. They still work! Not sure if I'd want to jump ship to another company for motherboards, but I've heard good things about eVGA motherboards. Still though...I usually go with boards that have more USB ports, and that's usually the pricey ASUS boards. For my X99 I went with the ASUS X99-E WS and it's probably the greatest motherboard I've ever used. It has tons of USB 3 ports and is built with premium components that I couldn't find on any other board.

Hope they release the little Micro already! At least soon... I mean Kingpin got himself HWbot world records with this little beast weeks ago!... It must be around the corner. I'm gonna use it because of him actually. MSI annouced another mATX which looks kinda nice at first glimpse, but the VRM is crap. Half of the VRM/mosfet components is actually on the back of the board and can't be cooled on the MSI. Also I don't really need the rgb bling. If Kingpin can OC a 10 core to 5.7Ghz on this the Micro, it should serve me well. Just get it released in germany before the 7920X gets released please! Or just priority mail me one and I'll write a review from a community standpoint either way I'm okay with it :P

I prefer the look of the Dark board but I'd never buy a board with a fan on it.

What's the reason for EATX and MATX only?
There weren't any ATX boards for X99 as well as far as I know.

I'd like to get an EVGA board for my next build but I have a really nice loop setup in a mid tower and changing the case would be a bit of a hassle.

I hope the Micro comes out soon. It's a race between this and MSI's X299M Pro Carbon. The Micro looks nice but I've been waiting so long at this point that I'll just buy whichever comes first.

They're usually noisy, at least they used to be.
Building PC's through the 2000's really turned me off them.

If it was dead quiet I'd consider it.
But is it a chipset fan or for an M.2 drive and if so would there be an option in BIOS to turn it off if you're just using a 2.5 SATA SSD?

Yeah, that is a nice looking board. I just built my new x99 rig just over a year ago but I don't see the need to upgrade to x299. If I were to be in the market today, I think I'd go Threadripper even though EVGA doesn't make AMD boards. The Asus Zenith Extreme is a nice looking board as well but in the other hand, The Corsair One Pro looks great too. A compact beast would be a good change from the giant DG-86 I have now.

And btw., they are just having the wrong pictures in it - description and everything else is correct.

I'd really advice against this MSI board. It's VRMs are really awful.

Re: elbeasto - I hear you. I used to strongly be that way myself, but times have changed and nowadays you can easily (and cheaply) replace an on-board fan if it starts to get noisy or you can even replace it in the beginning with something even better. There are a ton of sizes and bearing choices out there (hydraulic, fluid dynamic, magnetic, hydro wave, etc.) So don't let what used to be a legitimate concern in the past, hold you back and limit your choice for a great board in the future.

I'm seeing pre-orders available on many sites for Apex/Extreme.  EVGA Dark coming out soon also?  Since I usually don't get responses for questions on these boards I'm guessing first quarter 2018?  Seriously how hard can it be to give some type of estimate...

I haven't heard a peep yet. All I know is that ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte have had their X299 boards out for almost two months now. Seriously EVGA? I love EVGA boards, but man I got tired of waiting. A few weeks ago I bought MSI's flagship X299 XPOWER board. It's one damn fine board! It's giving me a new opinion about MSI boards. It's advertised for extreme gaming, but also works well as a workstation board. I have Windows 10 running on a Samsung 960 Pro M.2. 1TB, and let's just say my digital world is super sweet right now. I'm still interested in the EVGA X299 Dark, but it will have to be a purchase at a later date now.

I went to newegg and picked up mine earlier today.  I was able to hit 5.0GHz @72c according to ROG OC panel but real bench was reporting that at some point I hit 88c but it must have been a spike because I didn't see it on the RB software.

I was hoping that EVGA Dark came out around the same time so I can test it before I install this Apex in my main rig with a custom loop for lower temps.  Would be nice if EVGA sends me an engineering sample right about now :). I'm still buying one for testing purposes.  I think I'll do a full review of EVGA Dark, Asus Apex and Extreme to compare all 3 for science.

What say you EVGA, do you mind a commoner testing out your product sooner designed by the King(+team) himself?

Also the Dimm Slots are farther apart and creat more distance from the socket. Probably to fit all the phases from the vrm.

I personally don't think that ... a more reasonable answer would be more space for ln2 pots.

Whaaaat is that? :|||

I'm really looking forward to build my next machine with EVGA flagship MB, but with the delays and lack of communication, Asus Rampage VI Extreme is looking more appealing... And i don't even want an Asus MB.

I would love if EVGA did 8 RAM slots, Dual Ethernet Ports (with 1x 10GbE port) and Watercooling Friendly Headers, if only...

Re: EVGA X299 Motherboards! 2017/08/27 20:11:15 (permalink)
I wanted to come back and share my experience with my Aorus X299 Gaming 7. I was complaining that EVGA had not yet released any X299 boards, and mentioned that I may go with the Gaming 7 instead of waiting, when a very nice mod basically said, "go for it and let us know your thoughts."

I have to say that I am not unhappy with my purchase of the Aorus Gaming 7. It is a great board, with tons of features, and stunning good looks. I would say the BIOS has most of the settings you would expect and need, but leaves a bit to be desired as far as layout. From what I can tell, it has plenty of clean power for overclocking. I've had no issues with VRM temps or VRM throttling.

This would be my suggestion- if you can wait on EVGA to release their boards, I say wait. If you NEED a system now, or just can't wait any longer to jump on the X299 bandwagon, this Gaming 7 is not a bad choice, and I think you would be happy.

Ultimately, I prefer EVGA products for everything. There is good reason why their products take longer to come to market. As much as I hate waiting on them to release something, it almost never disappoints.

Look at the FTW. The dark is meant for overclocking and benchmarking, and drops the things that do not help with overclocking and benchmarking. It has been said enough times that there is only 4 ram slots, because 8 just adds more stress to the memory controller and doesn't assist in benching.

Most of what you mention is already out there, just not on the board you are looking at currently.

Consider reading here: https://www.evga.com/arti...9-series-motherboards/ like you said, "if only" is right there in front of you.

They also show the rampage VI extreme available, which is not true. I would use caution when case king says they have something that hasn't officially released from the company.
