Everything I read indicates margins are horrible for AIB's, so I guess not a huge surprise. But nonetheless a huge bummer... I've almost exclusively owned EVGA cards over the years, although I've recently bought a handful of Founders since they were way cheaper (and I kinda moved on from EVGA when they killed their folding at home promotion -- was such a cool unique thing).

I've purchased:

-3dFX Voodoo 3 2000
-Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti500
-BFG GeForce4 Ti4200
2005 - 2010 ---------------------(college, on budget, poor)-----------------------
-EVGA 560ti 448
-EVGA 1070 FTW

Maybe I should buy from Nvidia directly next...

this was unexpected!

anyone knows why evga decided to leave nVIDIA and throw away about..80'ish% of their business?

it doesn't make sense.. at all! and they don't plan to expand to other products?

whoot?
( watching the nexus video about this)

Check out the Jayztwocents video for more perspective. It seems it was a long miserable relationship.

what is EVGA without VGA,
Good luck E ...
I have been considering skipping the 40 series , got a Kingpin 3090 in the closet and 3090 ti blocked and happy , guess I will make the undervolt permanent.
So sad, I was a super fan boi , not going to lie
engineering samples are built even though the actual decision goes back to April? found that confusing.
I don't know how a PSU, with niche Motherboards, keyboards and mice - Company survives this,
The part that got recognition (VGA),  is what sold the other parts.
Technology getting rare is never a good sign , there is not line to buy my old 3DFX Rendition card
I hope me buying a couple cards over 2 k helps keep the lights on and people employed for a while,
Wishing the Best for all the Employees

I have also been a long time EVGA user.  Even if this is the path they have to take, the family connection is going to be broken up

well just saw some of the video from  nexus and it's pretty obvious their relation was sour! really sour!
and the divorce just was only now publicly announced! ( nvidia echelon board already knew back in APRIL this year apparently)

now.. what will EVGA do?
this smells XFX drama all over again..

and look what happen to XFX ? - the great and mighty gpu manufacturers in their time!!-
they are gone.. irrelevant now!
BUT they actually sided with amd after the drama with nvidia! they somehow.. "survived"

EVGA doesn't even consider that move - to partner with another company! ( lets see...if partners or not)
EVGA is done for .. unfortunately ..

as for Nvidia WHO actually MAY BE the real villain here...it still has ASUS , MSI , GIGABYTE , ZOTAC , GALAX , INNO3D , PNY etc.. etc.. etc..

Well, Ill never use AMD gpu, I been with evga for over 10 years, this sucks.  Guess Ill be moving to MSI for my next upgrade

Be forewarned, MSI's support is horrendous. My motherboard issue put me out of a computer (that I only had running for a month) for 3 months. I had to RMA my motherboard twice, and it took over a month in between each. The first board I got back from them was physically damaged to the extent that it would have failed the RMA criteria if I sent it to them in that condition. The board was bowed, and the m.2 heat sink screw stand-offs were both stripped out to the extent that they couldn't be used. The latest RMA'd board doesn't have a functioning ARGB port. I'll never buy a single product from them ever again.

This is one way to kill a company. You never put principles above business when running a business.  Awful decision.

Standing by their principles and treating people like people is why I only bought EVGA GPUs personally. Everyone else puts profit ahead of their customers and principals if they even have any. That's why EVGA was the last card I'll buy. I'd rather just not worry about it after years of experience with other manufacturers. I always told customers that EVGA was the best especially when something goes wrong and it always was easy if ever there were a problem. Everyone else I've dealt with was a hassle or became one in the end.

XITYWAMPAS, I agree 100%.  If EVGA partners with AMD, I will be buying AMD cards.  I don't know how old many of the people are on this thread but I've always had a problem with NVIDIA.  They killed one of the best, most innovative companies that made gaming fun.  3DFX.  They promised to build upon the 3DFX technology but they bought the company, locked up the technology, and threw away the key.  I have bought more EVGA products along with video cards over the last 19 years than I will ever buy any other Brand Name product because of their customer service and quality products.  I think other AIBs may follow suit since the profit margin for NVIDIA has increased and AIBs have decreased over the last decade.

As someone who has purchased AMD cards in the past, those days are long behind me.  I love EVGA but I won't buy an inferior technology just to support the company.  I still don't know how they only 'broke even' with how much demand there's been in video cards for all these years, especially the last 2-3 years with how much cards were marked up as well and they literally sold everything they made.

they announce this a day after crypto mining dies, just tells you they were never for the gamers.

Not buying that one, not when they were the only GPU company I was aware of that developed a Que system to get 30xx cards into gamer's hands when there was such a huge shortage. Got my 3090 FTW3 Ultra that way relatively quickly.

I believe EVGA is doing what others should have done either before or together with EVGA -stood up against Nvidia.

I hope AMD proves to be more of a predictable and cooperative supplier than Nvidia - because I have no doubt in the end it'll result in a great AMD deal.

Re: EVGA Will no longer do business with NVIDIA 2022/09/16 17:28:19 (permalink)
well .. i saw the nexus video and the jayztwocents video!! a sad situation!!

and it explains alot!
this sour relation between evga and NVDIA has been dragging for a long LONG LONG time..

basically  nVIDIA's CEO thinks their aib partners don´t do much work and earn a lot of money with "his" nVIDIA cards..

Nvidia ceo seems to be a dictator kind of person... (it seems) and he doesn't allow evga or other PCB PARTNERS to go outside of the his strick ideals for nvidia GPU cards
( like more VRAM or more gpu chips on a single pcb board etc..etc..etc..)

apparently nVIDIA  forgets the R&D investment for the custom coolers and OC'ed stable versions..etc etc.. that the pcb partners invest and release in the market!
Nvidia CEO apparently JUST thinks that evga ( and others) just stick a random cooler on his cards with their name and logo and earn easy money at nvidia expense!

LIKE hello?? he must be insane because ITS LIKE the NVidIA 4000 gen doesn't GONNA DESPERATELY NEED  a decent coolers.. due to the massive TDP nvidia is engineering"

IT seems other AIB partners complain the same thing EVGA does... but for now they will stick with nVIDIA..

what will EVGA do? i do wonder...  EVGA CEO did make a personal honorable decision that for me is a fatal one!

evga better get a partner with intel or AMD.. or something else! because this scenario looks grim and really smells XFX all over again!

EVA can survive without making video cards.  They can concentrate their efforts on their motherboard, power supply and accessories business.  For everyone worried about warranties, I understand your concerns, but I've never hard a card fail that survived the first 90 days.  Not to mention a lifetime warranty is worthless when your card is in the closet after 3-4 years anyways.

I am so angry and upset over this love. It’s extremely selfish of Han to do this. I’ve been a loyal GPU customer since the very beginning. I’ve been buying their GPUs since 2000 and have owned every high end model they have ever made. I’m just sad now. The employees have always been amazing to work with and no other tech company has come close to the customer service that EVGA has provided all these years.

I agree. EVGA will be fine if they continue offering their top tier support with the products they will continue to make like PSUs and peripherals. These products are much higher margin than GPUs. I just hope they also decide to expand their motherboard offerings. If they can offer more boards at more price points they will have a better chance to succeed there as well.

They claim to have been selling most of their high end cards at a loss the last two generations.  Not to mention NVIDIA appears to be a real pain in the butt to work with.

It is early in the situation...
EVGA could link with AMD or build their own.
It is a shock

I really want to see EVGA make AMD graphics cards. I love EVGA but never liked NVidia.
