This is sad. I have bought 4 EVGA cards in the last 3 generations and have recommended them countless times. Their products were good and their service was awesome.

I am stunned.

I’d love to share your positivity, but if they’ve known since april that they are moving away from gpu sales and are going to try and bolster other lines the next largest revenue generator is PSU’s. Any reason they aren’t launching a next gen psu already? One that’s equipped with the new 16pin connector?

As for their motherboards, I love them but they are typically releasing 4~5 months after chipset launches and by this alone costing themselves sales.

EVGA built their brand on GPU’s and the best customer service. Without those GPU’s they’re going to be a tiny player in the market and will be hard pressed to grow a brand following.

This feels like some sort of honor suicide by the CEO. He should have just called up AMD as that would have burned Jensen personally and nvidia as a whole.

I remain saddened by this news for both the employees and the market. But in the end the ceo gets to take his ball and go home.

It is extremely short sided since people don't upgrade their PSUs as often as GPUs.  I mean, I have 10+ year old PSUs still in service and only buy a new one every 4 -5 years or so.

EVGA were selling GPU (especially 3090ti) at a lost of 100's of dollars. It could not sustain that going forward. The margins for the other cards were very small. If EVGA doe's not partner up with another company; such as Intel or AMD, within 3 months ,then it's over for this outstanding company, EVGA!

Say it ain't so!!!

I saw the Gamers Nexus video on youtube and did a double take.  EVGA has exclusively been my goto PSU and GPU for a while now.  What's weird is that I returned here to the forums yesterday, after a ~6 month hiatus, to see if enewt had spun up any threads for 4090 queueing scuttlebutt ... but saw no posts.  Now I am here a day later lamenting the news ... sad ... I've grown to trust EVGA as a brand.

I guess this means that, more than likely, ROG will eventually grab a larger share of my setup.  Too bad ... ROG was always overpriced for GPUs as compared to EVGA.

What does one do with their EVGA GPUs?  I imagine the price will plummet in the near term out of support fears but in the long run ... will they be collector's items?  I have a 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming in my rig and a 3080 Ti XC3 Gaming in my all-purpose server box.  Which one do I keep if/when I grab a 40-series card?

I anticipate a loss of the majority of PSU sales. The main reason people buy eVGA PSUs is to match eVGA graphics cards. No more graphics card sales means no more PSU sales.

For those who don't understand why this happened here is a graph, plus Nvidia lowered their 3090ti to 1099$ and said nothing to the AiB's about it. That's a **** move

they announce this a day after crypto mining dies, just tells you they were never for the gamers.

They notified nvidia back in April, this has nothing to do with the merge

Horrible news. I highly doubt they can loose 80% of there revenue stream and continue to function normally.  Basically the CEO wants to take a break from the company. If he is tired of running it let someone else step in and take control. Tons of people here have bought 5 and 10 year warranties because EVGA always stood behind their products. Someone needs to take control while their name is still great and cut a deal to work with AMD or Intel to make something really great.

It's all about brand recognition. People bought EVGA for quality and support. They still have a good amount of users who have 7-10 year warranties on their GPUs. Let's see if a class action lawsuit occurs if they break promises.

To join the chorus. Yeah pretty much this sucks. I was debating buying a 4090 I don't need even though I have a 3090. This will make it easier for me not to be tempted. Save some money. And wish EVGA gets back into cards/survives before the next series.

I do think there was probably a way for EVGA to continue making money with Nvidia. I'm sure they are a pain to work with and the margins got smaller with every generation, but after watching the GN video it does seem like Andrew has given up. He's old and tired and doesn't want to deal with Jen-Hsun anymore and I get that, but to not let someone else have the reigns and try and keep the relationship, and keep it profitable just seems short sighted and slightly ego driven. He'd rather just down the ship I guess. I really do hope EVGA can stay profitable and stay around forever but this decision certainly makes that harder IMO.

Guess CEO wants to shut the company down without saying he wants to shut the company down. If GPU sales make up 80% of your business, how much of the 20% of your other business was driven by people owning your GPU's and wanting to own like products? Without the GPU's I don't see people being drawn to the other products. Hopefully something gets worked out.

So true about the name recognition. GPUs do sell the other products. But I do think EVGA has built up a good reputation with PSUs. We will have to see if it's enough. Sucks to have your major product be a rebrand though.

i mean i can get where evga  is coming from.. like the post above here https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3575004
nvida is screwing them over and doesn't at all appreciate any work they are doing.

they are bleeding money because of nvidia, but also because they made business choices.
nividia were able get away with (Deleted for Foul Language) profit margins because of mining.. something which should never have been allowed. (mining)

but if you try the people who you are working with like(Deleted for Foul Language) .. they leave.

my issue is that.. this burden that evga has is now being placed upon us... the consumers.

sure we can buy other brands.. but they are remotely the same quality

i WILL be buying an EVGA 1300 watt psu when i build my new computer this winter
but.. now for my 4080 im not sure what brand i to get
all i care about is how "quiet" it is, and well now i guess that its not evga anymore i got to worry about quality now too

i was totally going to do hybrid 4080, but now idk

Given all the great work EVGA put into their 3090ti cards along with the custom powerlinks ... inb4 evga releases firmware updates for their 3090ti cards which allows them to outperform the first gen 4090s.

i agree

Andrew got tired of Nvidia behavior..

but this decision is without a doubt personal.
he is gonna sink EVGA eventually and he knows it.

AND YES: someone else from the board should take control of EVGA from now on and talk to nvidia or amd.. or intel(new in the gfx game)

ok sure that evga had no profit in the last 2 generations of GPU's regarding the  xx80's and xx90's models!
and
OK SURE that the profit margin for AIB partners already way under 10% is ludicrous.. if that graphic table posted before is right

but there are more AIB partners out there also tired of Nvidia! evga is not alone in this!

they should all talk, get together and they should reason with nvidia or something!
i wonder what are  ASUS and MSI thoughts on this.. they are on the same troublesome boat relating nvIDIA..

+1
With the b-stock prices right now I just checked them. It seems Andrew Han is trying to liquidate all stock asap. I do not see them fulfilling RMA's 3-10 years out. I do not even see them surviving for 3-5 years let alone 7-10 for RMA's. I know this is my last EVGA build and am bummed about it. All of you I have met on the forums over the years, made friends, enemies that we finally met in the middle, arguments its been a fun as hell ride the past decade in a half. I see the forums shutting down and the company going out with a whimper once Andrew Han has milked the last bit life blood left in it after this choice. Sad days ahead not just this.

This feels short sighted. I cannot wait to get some clarity from EVGA...whenever that might be....

No kidding, Nvidia's crime must be incredibly severe to end 20+ years of incredible cooperation and alienate a highly devoted userbase. Hopefully they give us fans a bit more information. Many thanks for your work with the queue btw, was a bright spot in my day to check the status and read your fantastic camel puns. Cheers everyone and here's to seeing a EVGA comeback in the future!

Re: EVGA Will no longer do business with NVIDIA 2022/09/16 21:50:16 (permalink)
First XFX, then BFG, there was certainly forewarning of this. I just didn't think NVIDIA would be that stupid. I don't like EVGA's choice, but I certainly understand it.

There's no alternatives to EVGA in the green market. Next closest vendor seems to be Zotac who offers a 3+2 year warranty to North American buyers, as long as they are the original direct purchaser and register promptly. Everyone else seems to be 2-3 years at best. I've heard nothing but bad things about ASUS, GB, and Zotac RMA support, so yeah... if someone offers a great warranty coverage with an Arc or Radeon it's going to be on my shortlist regardless of the performance disparity. Being best in performance means squat when NVIDIA sells a $1,500 (or higher) product with a paltry 2-3 year warranty.

Edited to correct that Zotac is 3 years in NA, 5 years in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. So with EVGA's departure nobody sells NVIDIA cards with more than a 3 year warranty in the US anymore.

Re: EVGA Will no longer do business with NVIDIA 2022/09/16 21:53:06 (permalink)
These are the saddest news I have ever heard.
EVGA was always one the best GPU and manufacturer.
I hope something will change in the feature.
