You have a new revision card right? What’s your preferred bios for it? I have had excellent results hitting 500w using the original card’s XOC 500w bios. I haven’t felt the need to slap the kingpin bios on it yet, bc I hit 500w no issue.

No, I don't. Still on an original revision card with power problems that are solved with the XC3 VBIOS. Got the REBAR version and a hybrid kit on it, and for games it clocks at 2100MHz with that setup so I'm going to keep it for now since it'd be a pain to put it back to stock and not have the appropriate replacement pads for the kit.

Getting a new 3090 FTW3 via step up today, have all the power issues been resolved? Need to decide between keeping my 3090 FE or this soon. How are the Tjunc temperatures on the latest batches? Thanks.

Nothing has been resolved, no official statement from EVGA. Sell the FTW3 and keep the FE.

The problem is not the BIOS but the PCB design. As an FTW3 owner (have an RMA on the way) I wish I could tell you the good news but there isn't many.

Looks like you missed a lot. Check post number 2 of this thread - I consolidated EVGA_Jacob's posts about their new RMA program for this issue.

So far the KP BIOS has been the best for me on the revision card. I am seeing over 520 watts in wow retail with just the power limit slider slid up to 20%. It might mess with fans though. I wouldn't know about that part I am under water.

I’m on a hybrid kit, with rad fans on a commander pro, so I’m sure it’d be fine for just shroud fan control. My card can only OC to +90 (even though it boosts to 2085, holds 2055 under load). Would I have to under lock it by 30 MHz on the kingpin bios? (1890 = 1920 -30)

I didn't under clock mine at all. Did some overclocking via the curve in afterburner. .

What’s the power distribution under full load for that 520 watts, pcie and 3 8 pins. Currently w/original XOC for full 500+ w I get 165-170 w first 2 8 pins, under 110w 3rd 8 pin and 67 pcie.

I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But so you know: I’ve been able to use the same stock putty/pads over and over on the hybrid kit. The air cooler, never, that putty/pads are done the moment it’s opened. I’ve taken this kit apart like 4-5 times now (repasting and rma’ing) somehow the putty/pads are still good to go. I’ve finally got 500w power draw after all these months, and a low pcie power. It seems unreal after the despair of the past few months hah.

It has nothing to do with the BIOS, nothing...the card has load balancing problems by design.
Enough folks already reported getting cards from RMA with the same issue and some reported EVGA changed the vrm controller on the fly....why? when? which serial mumbers?
Zero response from EVGA on the case, no info on PCB revisions or anything that could fix the issue (or actually admitting the issue) should say enough.

Bruh what are you talking about, I have a new revision card and switching from the 500w bios it came with to the original 500w bios sees 465 w power locked jump to 500w draw. 14,500 port Royal jumps to 14,750. I’m not having load balancing issues. I’m pulling 500w. I asked what his power distribution was, bc he’s successfully pulling 520w on a different bios. What are you smoking, and can I have some bc it must be strong.

If you flash the original XOC 500w bios onto a new revision card I guarantee you, you can bypass the PCB design issue bc I pull 165-170 watts from the first 2 8 pins, and around 110w from the 3rd. 67 w pcie...add it up its 500 w.

For the last time - It is not the freaking BIOS! It's a hardware issue hence I won't even unpack my RMA.
Truly, I'm gone, enough EVGA jokery for me.

So then, if doing nothing but switching bioses allow me to pull 500w, adds 300 port Royal points, clocks higher instead of being power locked at 465 w on the original 500w bios it came with, pray tell what it is then?

So you’ll speak confidently about this card that you haven’t tested that’s sitting in a box, and are going to tell me and others the problem isn’t fixed when I’m telling you: I have opened the box, the cards in my system and you CAN easily get 500w and low pcie power with one bios switch, but you wouldn’t know: you haven’t tried it. Also phroze was just up in here saying he easily pulls 520 watts on this card with the kingpin bios, you don’t know what you’re taking about IMO.

Edit: I’m talking about a new revision card from 3090OC@evga.com

I'am still on my original card (bought at release) we are talked about in the DMs :) Some in the EU got the same card back from the program as they send in. I can hit 14.8k in PR with the ReBar XOC BIOS (185 core/ 1250 memory). I can easily game with 140 on the core. And this is on air. So because there is a risk in the EU to get the same card back and RMA it again, I will keep mine ( even If I think sometimes about RMAing it :D ) But I don't think it is worth it. Max PCI-E was 83 watts (very, very rare). Average is 77-78 watts under full load. All 3 pins are mostly even +/- 10 to 15 Watts. I think if I tune the VC with afterburner I can maybe get a bit more out if it. I don't think I will win the lottery twice with a new card. I have a good Board and PSU.

You’ll be fine with that card, i ran cards at 81 + w (86 w ! Peak) through my z390 aorus master for months. If you might end up with another original card it’s definitely not worth it in the EU at this time. I hit the lottery with this new card for sure, it’s a beast 14,750 port Royal and 21,900 timespy gpu 11,332 timespy extreme gpu. that’s my gaming OC I’m sure I could squeeze out extra benchmark points but I just bench my highest gaming OC’s for a measure of “real-world” performance on the card. At first I was kinda bummed bc power draw was hard locked at 465 w and the card was still doing well at 14,500 but then I flashed the original XOC 500w bios from October on here, converted it to a hybrid and it’ll pull 160-170 w through 2 8 pins and 110 w through the 3rd, only pulling 67 w peak. It pulls 500w easily now, in game and benches. I am soon gonna try kingpin bios and see what can be done, although I wonder if the hybrid kit has adequate cooling 500w is pretty much the cooling limit of 240 rad.

You obviously didn't read post 2 of this thread where I saved EVGA's response to the power balancing problem - it's a special RMA program. Click the double left pointing arrows, look at post 2. Or don't and keep spouting falsehoods.

After starting X1 bios 94.02.42.80.15 was installed.
RBAR 500 watt bios - with power never exceeding 450
....
I installed the kingpin 530 rbar bios which was recommended in thread - and with this the card can finally draw up to 495 watt. .. yeah

PCIE power draw with the kingpin bios? Further was it air cooled when you scored 14903?

I tried in the meantime *every* bios from techpowerup with 500W for FTW3 and hybrid
Power can go beyond 450 ... but stays regularly around ~470w

Only with Kingpin Bios it max out around ~500w
Going beyond 500w seems impossible sigh :/

First results with air - the FTW3 have a very powerful, yet quite silent cooler.
Quite a shame to put it into the box - but I always cooled my cards with water.

With water the results are
http://www.3dmark.com/pr/1009130

One additional “problem”
I can barely overlock my memory
+150 MHz with the kinping bios is max, everything above gets unstable
On the other hand, core still works fine with +160 MHz

Edit:
No matter the bios, PCIe power draw never exceeded ~55-65 watt, power 1+2 maxed out, power 3 lower

Had to RMA my last 3090 Ultra Hybrid. Would no longer allow any BIOS to be flashed. Received new card. Took 3 days to receive into Canada. Flashed to Kingpin 520 BAR BIOS. Best scores yet.

I have two problems. I update my bios with evga precision x 1. I have a 3090 ultra hybird. My bios version is 94.02.42.c0.11.

It says, after updating bios:

-Csm support must be disabled before updating BIOS-

I have a second problem. This comes by default at values 44 and 40. The fan won't let me go below 30 percent speed.

So I installed Precision X1 and it asked (forced me to as I couldn't use the program without updating the MCU/Firmware it had suggested) me to update the firmware so I did, everything worked great until I rebooted today, and now my PC will not detect my extremely expensive paper weight. No sign of it in GPU-Z , Device Manager etc. If I try to install the drivers I get a no compatible devices found error and if i try to update (or roll back the firmware) i get a similar error saying cannot find any compatible devices. I literally just stepped up to this card and its lasted me all of a less than a month.

I will be going ASUS next time I am so done with EVGA!

I have tried both the VGA bios'es using the switch (despite having only flashed the OC bios). Of course EVGA support being based in Cali are closed now , so I'm stuck without my PC again probably for weeks!

Precision X1 is a POS compared to Afterburner: Profiles not saved on reboot, and **** does it say ReBar disabled when Nvidia system info clearly says it is enabled?

I have tried DDU , I have also tried reinstalling the drivers , which fails because there is no GPU visibly there in my system according to DDU, GPU-z or the driver itself. Card is also not detected when attempting to flash the stock BIOS to it.

this is not my first rodeo and I've been at this lark a long time.

I am refilling my loop tonight once I get out of work and will see if I can get the card to be seen, If not i will be draining it and RMA'ing the card.

Re: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 XOC BIOS BETA 2021/04/26 12:53:15 (permalink)
I have two problems. I update my bios with evga precision x 1. I have a 3090 ultra hybird. My bios version is 94.02.42.c0.11.

It says, after updating bios:

-Csm support must be disabled before updating BIOS-

I have a second problem. This comes by default at values 44 and 40. The fan won't let me go below 30 percent speed.

Okay so I don't want to rub anything in anyone face. However, I had FTW3 3090 Ultra and I had the score of 4050 in Heaven 4 even at 2220mhz clock speed and 550W with 1000W KP bios +200 to core clock.

Sold it, got Suprim X and scores went up from 4050 to 4450. KP 520W bios works perfectly (ON AIR!) and PCI-E power doesn't go past 50W, clock speed 2160Mhz and no water block yet.

It's literally just a quick benchmark run. Don't know max OC etc yet or anything more but it's already 10% ahead.

Imagine what water block will do.

The fact that PCI-E power is out of spec doesn't help on FTW3.

Getting rid of FTW3 was the best decision ever.

Interesting.  My 3090 FTW3 RMA card scored just a tick higher (4600) while only maxing out at 473w power draw on the KP520 bios.  Does that mean my card is not only faster but more efficient?

Best decision ever keeping my FTW3.

It's all subjective brother.  Plenty of other brands that GPU's fail to make the high score just the same as EVGA.

Did you OC And do you have a water block on? I would love to see the score if you don't mind posting a pic.

You were lucky I think and your card isn't messed up like others.

Just as I said that's all on air in hot room with lousy oc and just the 520W bios slapped, and when GPU approaches 70c clocks drop.

My FTW3 was so bad it's unreal.

When I owned my one, I haven't found a difference. Power usage same, cooling same. Sometimes it wasn't switching so you had to restart twice etc. Any BIOS will do to be fair. Adjust fan curve appropriately.
