Disable card in device manager, open the update.exe as admin, finish flash, re-enable card, reboot. In theory, this should work, otherwise user-error.

In this way the community is not going forward, people do not trust what others say, will be waiting for official support unanswered if they do not want public opinion, do not come here to ask, email support@evga.com, make as many questions you want.

Well, I finally called support about the problem with trying to update on a AMD platform. The guy e-mailed me a file with an BIOS update that needs to be used first before you can updatethis one. It's kinda like a prerequisite. But anyways, after running the BIOS update he sent me I was finally able to update to this current one. My question now is, is this something we are going to have to do every time for us AMD users?

Probably yes as long as bios update or they do an update that is compatible with AMD systems without the need to install a hotfix.

Asgar_55 Hi guys, I have a 1070 FTW (08G-P4-6276-KR) and I will update the bios, but I'm not sure the correct steps with cards with dual bios. I prefer to ask before. As I understand it is: - Download the primary and secondary setup.exe. - Close all the programs. - Execute the primary bios setup.exe and update - turn off the PC. - Change "Master" to "Slave" Bios - Turn on the PC - Execute the secondary bios setup.exe and update. - restart. - Done! is this correct? Thanks
I have the same card as you. I updated my gtx 1070 ftw bioses yesterday without any problems, all you have to do is download correct bios, you can see your card's number on bottom box, or on your card. After you have located your card's number all you have to do is download correct file or files, depends on how many bioses you have on your card and u'r good to go. What I did was, since my main bios is set on master (default ''00''), I closed evga's oc software (defaulted the overclock, first). then turned off all running programs (firefox, media players and etc) including windows defender, or in your case that might be some other anti virus protection, since they have a tendency to conflict with unknown BAT files or other types. Run the .exe file (executable, not the 64file which comes with bat instructions). After that my screen went black for 1 or 2 seconds, then the message comes back to press ''y'' to proceed, ''s'' to skip or ''a'' to abort the bios update, all you ahve to do is press ''y'' and nothing else, you will see multiple ''.'' dots go in line, similar to loading or progress bars, by then you dont have to do anything else, just wait till bat file closes after that is done, just reboot your computer, come back in delete the extracted files from zip. open gpu-z and whoolaa you can see u'r updated bios ''50.00.'' my case, after that if you have a dual bios card like mine, just delete teh main bios zip and 2 files you extracted from it, so they dont mess with your head when you try to update secondary (slave) bios, and do teh same exact thign you did on main, just switch the card's bios switch first before updating, that means turn pc off, open case, switch bios, and u'r ready to update second bios. In case you dont have micron memory on your card, check in gpu-z first under memory vendor, it will show micron or samsung, if you do have subvendor samsung you don't need to upgrade bios, in fact if you dont overclock your memory, you dont need this update at all, since the bios has updated the oc capability of micron's memory, in my case my memory oc was almost 9k gb/s I was happy with old oc as well, you wont see real life benifits from gaining extra 100+ mhz on memory any way, in case you still thinking update or not.

That is fine the BR and the KR cards are the same, the last two digits of the Part Number just indicate the warranty on the product with BR cards having 1 year of warranty and KR having 3. Both BR and KR cards use the same BIOS

Thanks a ton. Gotta do it carefully. Its not like flashing the bios on the motherboard right?

I have flashed my GTX 1070 FTW and the overclocking potential is still bad :(. I can only overlock my card with +80 mhz at core. When I tried to overclock the Memory, games(GTA 5, Planet Coaster, AC Unity) and 3DMark has crashed, even if I only at 10 mhz. Im still disappointed at the moment. Otherwise the card is brilliant. Its silent and looking very good.

After looking more deeply into this update, and doing some research I found following. It appears that Micron's memory chips dint run at rated 8gb/s speeds, they were somewhere between 7,5~7,8 or in rare cases even lower than that, and this update supposedly fixed that issue, besides overclocking, which wouldn't be the main issue, because I got micron memory as well and it was out of the box at 8004 mb/s or in other words 8gb+/s which is what is rated speed if we look spec sheets and box, and I was able to push it even further than that, my current memory oc is 8496 mb/s, you can see that while running afterburner or precision x in on screen display modes, how ever if you do see your memory is bellow 8gb/s or ~3480+something, remember double the rate (for those who are confused while looking at on screen displays), you should try the update, if you are like me and with micron memory. How ever if you have single bios card and you got this micron issue when u'r not getting your 8gb/s memory speed, and u'r not experienced or maybe a bit worried about updating gpu bios, and you dont much care about oc or your current memory speed doesn't affect you at any way, perhaps you shouldn't update the bios, because if b any chance you got electric outage or jump in your household you can brick your card just like that, it depends on you and how you feel. Some gpu manufacturers like gigabyte still hasnt released any bios updates for their cards, since they claim no1 of their users have claimed to have any issues with micron's memory (that means all of their users got rated mem speeds 8gb/s+), how ever other vendors like asus, palet etc, how ever got these micron issues and have relased bios updates for their cards, so its not only evga's who got these issues, its simply a memory manufacturer fault, since micron memory is considered to be a lower end if compared to samsung's memory, which maybe be a true, because most of micron's memory have been shipped to europe, and euro users have affected with these memory speeds, most of american and australian users got samsung memory and doesnt need an gpu bios update, also they are the ones who can push mem oc near close to 9gb/s have seen some even with 9.2 gb/s (rare cases though). I paid for my card 495 euros, which is pretty much, in my country, and I got micron memory, but i cant complain either I have my rated 8gb/s+ speeds.

Well my friend, core clocks is something you just have to deal with since they depend on silicon lottery, thats not something you can control or change, If I were you, I wouldn't spend my nerves and energy thinking about that, if you have core clock at load above 2000+ ur good, more than that, we are speaking of marginal gains from 2-4+fps which in real life you don't even notice, so don't bother with that bull crap, be happy that your card haven't catched flames yet like other unfortunate users, at least you can enjoy your games and card. By the way, atm edit your fan curve so that your card spins fans, because by default they only start to spin at 60 celsius which in current evga's cooler fiasco is a bit dangerous, no need to cook your card , before they come up with solution for current coolers, speaking of ''thermal pad mod'', I my self use 40% fan speed while my card is bellow 45 celsius, since Im waiting on thermal pads and from evga to be shipped, Im not willing to risk my card and cook it before that, how ever I do enjoy silent mode, but not until I'm 100% sure that I wont damage my pcb, so my recommendations to you is use 30-40% fan speed until your card hits 40 or 45 celsies by then ur most likely play games and shoudl use 70-75% speed at all times, to keep your card at 55-60+ celsius, just to be safe:p until all issues are dressed.

is there an issue with flashing the 1070 FTWs BIOS chips on an AMD platform? Saw one user having problems flashing on a 990FXA-UD7 (I have a UD3) Also, is there a reliable way to check and see if I have Samsung vs Micron memory?

Just wanted to confirm - this won't negatively affect cards with Samsung memory, correct? I had no plans to OC and didn't even know different brands of memory were used, but I discovered after flashing this I have Samsung, at least according to GPU-Z.

Alameer1s If your fans didnt stop even if the temperature is under 60C I asked the support about that this is the answer : Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. The only thing changed was the micron vRAM. No other changes were made. You must have the card set to the secondary BIOS, which doesn't allow for the 0db fan profile.
Try switching it over and see if the fans will stop spinning if the GPU is under 60C.
(I made a mistake by installing the secondary bios on primary, I fixed that an everything is ok now)
How can the primray bios version put back when you installed the secondary bios on the primrary switch in mistake?

Simple... #1 Load into windows on the actual secondary switch. #2 Move switch to primary. #3 Reflash primary with primary vbios.
