Many of you seem to be a bit confused about the box backgrounds. Both the 470 and 480 backgrounds are the same. The camera flash reflected more on the 470 than the 480 box when photographed. The boxes look to be designed with a glossy clear varnish plate to show those radial sander highlights.

Those pictures were not taken with a photo camera :)

Which means the boxes are different.

No, it means that they used a laser camera.

Or its just the digital render of a box that hasn't been physically printed yet and people are reading too much into this lol.

nice box to bad it will be in the bottom of my build box till i have to ship it back for upgrade or if for some reason i would have to Rma it.

i have stashed 1000.00 bucks away to buy the 480 card, or 2 if they are around the 500.00 zone. What a race it will be on the 26th to see who posts the invoice from what ever dealer they are getting the card from first. 

I will be trolling for cards early that day.

Oh really? A paperboard box worth a few cents makes ME want to spend a lot of money? Only if it was lined with 2 ounces of pure 24KT gold. AND had the GPu in it, all for around 699$

I love the look! It's simple, elegant, and futuristic in a classy tasteful way. I can only hope the cards look as awesome!

+1 -- there's really no need to be tacky. I specifically avoid purchasing hardware that has a distraction slapped on top.

curious, does the fact that these boxes have no mention of step-up imply that (at least immediately) they will not be eligible for the step up program and not carry a lifetime warranty?

No, it doesn't mean that, they're just renderings... which means out of artistic interest they've put as few non-existential details as possible. They're like this for *pretty* not for utility.
