Is the Evga DG86 or 87 case compatible with the 280 cooler? My Coolermaster HAF X is not .

Both cases specs say they support up to 8 x 140 or 120mm fans, and also both state full support for dual 420 or 360 radiators, so yup a 280 radiator is definitely supported by both cases.. and apparently more than just one 280 cooler. :)

There is a small gap between the case top fan and the EVGA radiator. the case was designed for 3 top fans (one is included)
I rotated the radiator so the water lines come down from the middle and not the far right side.
This places them above and a little to the right of the CPU

According to the man it will support a 280mm radiator. . . Check Jacob's replies in the case forum
I kind of doubt they would list them as supported if it required modification.

There is a EVGA DG-8x section with lots of pictures
I put the case built in temperature probe through a hole in the top and have it on top of the radiator so the case LCD display show air out temp.

Hi guys, I just bought the beautiful EVGA clc 120 and have a question, can I tuck away the fan cable that comes out the pump and just connect the fan to the motherboard? I'm replacing the fan with a noctua black fan. You guys think that the CPU cooler will work if it doesn't detect the fan connected to the pump? I Will definitely connect the pump to the Mobo, I don't care about the software Control for the fan as I like My Mobo bios taking care of this

There's no reason this shouldn't work (and I've never heard of any of these units not powering the pump without a fan detected). If you want to, the easy way to test for your own peace of mind would be to just plug the pump in to a fan header (assuming you've got another cooler cooling your CPU) and listen for the pump to spin which you can usually hear. As long as the pump is getting power and the radiator is getting sufficient airflow then everything will be able to do its job. Sounds like you already know what you're doing with the fan controllers so just be sure to monitor your temps while you're getting everything dialed in to ensure the radiator is getting enough air. I'm not familiar with Noctua's current offerings but be sure to get "static pressure" fans for the radiator (they'll have wider blades).

Use a micro USB cable to normal USB plug work just for testing with the EVGA cooling software ?
Saw in the documentations:
"A mini USB cable runs to a USB2.0 header on the board to provide RGB LED control via software."
This why get can view the pump RPM and temp information then disconnect later
I keep forgetting to take total CPU fan header/pump power data that is being used by the MB header
if you do that report back.

I spoke to EVGA customer support and was told I could connect a regular micro USB to a regular USB 2.0 (doesn't have to be a header) then change the RGB lighting/etc.. and save it, then unplug the micro usb and put it away. I haven't installed the clc 120mm yet since I haven't had time but hopefully EVGA support is right about the "save and unplug" feature, I don't want a dangling usb 2.0 cable, I don't care about monitoring pump speed and my Asus rampage v extreme already monitors fan and CPU temp externally via the rog control panel. I will report back, I'm crossing my fingers that the CPU cooler will work reliably without a permanent USB connected to it, I don't want it to turn into one of those scenarios where every few pc bootups it looses your RGB saves or weird thing's like that. if anyone else is thinking about doing the same stuff as me please let us know how reliable is the save and unplug stuff that EVGA is talking about, Thank you

Hi All,
I am new in the forum but I had a question about the 280mm CLC I just put into my new i7 7700K build. I have my computer completed and up/running, however when I power on, the CLC is running at max power. I installed the Flow Control Software thinking I would be able to go in and make changes, but the flow control software is telling me my device is a CLC 120mm, NOT the 280mm I actually have. The software has the pump and fans running at max rpm. I have tried to pulled the dials down to at the very least lower the speeds and sound coming from the fan, but it is not working.
I have not contacted EVGA support yet because it is early morning but I am hoping someone here can help me out.

Guys I haven't installed my EVGA 120mm yet, I normally do 1 single fan using a push configuration, if I add a second fan for push and pull what should I expect to see in Temp drop,. 5c?10c?20c? Also I'm waiting on a pair of noctua nf12 ippc 2000rpm fan in black, it is rated at 3.99 static pressure rating

jacob posted it showing 120 instead of 280 is a known bug and will be fixed with next release. from reading other post in this thread it seems the software is still pretty buggy, which happens with with the first versions of any software. welcome to the evga forums

I have to double click the auto twice to make the setting work and fan to follow the curve settings.
ie it is blue(on) then click to white then click back to blue.
The fan will then be at the fan curve speed and not the manual or full on speed.
max fan speed seems to make little or no CPU temp change.
My water temp is never more that 10 deg C higher than room air temp.
25.6 C room 30 C air temp above radiator -- water temp 36.1 C--- CPU temp 50 C

The Am4 Corsair Bracket fits perfekt its the same pump as the evga clc280 clc.

I think that the usb connection isn't working in ur case. Test another USB header on ur board. Otherweise take an USB mini cable of a photocamera or mobilephone etc... from the CLC to the I/OShield USB (this should also work for a test) U installed the newest version 2.0.1? In my case the fan speeds aren't correct reported if i connect to the two CLC fan headers directly. I think only Flow Control has the right speed information, but AIDA or other tools only show other speed values. Now i am using the header of my board, working fine for me. Fan Control is working over my ASUS ROG Hero VII Z97. The led synchronisation is not working. Pumpspeed is not variable, only fixed speed. CLC 120 will be shown in Flow Control, but i have the CLC 280. Who also has problems with the CLC? What do u think is the perfect speed for the pump? Does it matter? I already informed the support with my problems. I am exitedly if i am the only one.

Ace, I wound up calling EVGA yesterday about my issue. Same thing except I was able to see my firmware version. There unable to fix the problem so I am RMA'ing and getting a new one.

I did a total reinstall and now it's working fine. I dunno if I had a piece of software it didn't like or what. But it's working now. Update: I figured out what it was. I have a corsair ax860i power supply. The corsair link USB interface was causing problems. Once removed the evga flow control software works fine.

I use only the USB2 headers and ports.
I have a few times needed to reboot when one of the temp are missing - generally it was the CPU

Software BUG:
I have a dead area on my screen top left - If I right click there the flow control software errors out and then re loads.
The area is an invisible box.
to test this if you left click a folder and drag it over the area the folder changes to a circle with a slash through it
I keep the recycle bin in the top most left and wonder why the cooling software was re-setting when I right clicked to cleared the trash.

I should have also said this is using the new skin called (extra) not the default skin.
uninstalling and re-installing and using ONLY default skin will not have the bug I posted above.
The extra skin (which looks very good) put most of the sub-menu's on the main one
but it still gives the error access message we reported before.
Using 2.0.1

i have exact same thing. i swapped the header with my axi1200 to make sure its not my motherboards header. right now it only reads cpu temp and nothing else. edit: fixed the issue by removing the corsair link usb from power supply. also, the custome curve right now wont let us change the lowest and highest point, is there any plan to change that in future release? Edit#2 now that software is reading, my idle temp is 26c and my coolant temp is 29c, how is this possible? Do I have busted sensor? Fan speed is at 1000ish and pump at 2900

Look at it this way; the temp of the water loop is a real world average of true heat given off by the CPU and not just a quick sample of a CPU data point ( Which we have no idea how the cooling software gets that reading)
AND warm air from inside the case still gets added to the cooling unit via the tubes and warm air in the case going into the radiator.
Things to test;
1. run just the cooling loop ( some how) connect USB cable to another computer to monitor.
2. Use another test program like Aida64 to get a better CPU temp average
Seems to take longer than I expected to get water temp back to room temp after heavy use ie folding.
Just food for thought : the water pump is also water cooled :-) would that be an extra 5 watts of heat ?
