Do you have the fan In push or pull?? Usually fans are load in pull unless you add a half inch spacer in between the fan and rad.

Could try push/pull using the stock fan in push and the other fan in pull or try it the other way.

The fan I have it on push.
I do not have any place to put another fan. I dropped the idea having a regular P12 on it. After 2 hours of Origins, the card was running hot on 76 C.
There is no coil whine or pump buzz. However, the card is, overall, quite noisy - so it's not just the fan, somehow there has a noise like a small engine or so.
I am a silence freak, so this card is a no go for me.

I bought it from Romania, but the store does not accept refunds, since it was brought special for me from an overseas supplier.
I just hope that I can sell the stuff to a miner or something.

So hot I wonder if the pump is even working. DO you have the rad mounted so the water lines are at the bottom of the rad? May have trapped air at the pump.

but that noise is really really annoing...
especially in idle/browsing...

Is the noise coming from the card as in coil whine?

ebs2013, could you please tell me the fan type you purchased? are those TT?
the noise compared to the stock fan?
what is the difference between the situations with only one fan and push-pull? I don't think is more than 5-6C
what's the speed you need to have those magical 40C? :)

I need to change this crappy stock fan :)

the card is alrite after all - no coil whine, no pump buzzing etc

Few generations back I had only EVGA, but from 980 Ti they were not so good anymore (they were very hot compared to other models), so from 980 Ti including I had only MSI cards (Lightning or GamingX ), so I forgot what it was like to be a real bundle.
EVGA is the Stuff, and I’m happy to be back :D

With default settings and the standard fan, temperatures are quite decent: 36C idle, 48C in Unigine Superposition, 53C after 5h gaming in AC Origins.
In general the card is alrite: noi coil whine/coil noise and the pump is really silent.
The video card stays around 1999MHz more or less. From the OC point of view, I couldn’t run above 2050 MHz no matter what, as many of FTW3 hybrid users reported pretty much the same (who knows, maybe our cards are leftovers from Kingpin's binning P); however, but the vram goes over 12000MHz.
But obviously the big problem is the radiator fan, and I do not think it's running 100% all the time, as some say, I noticed that there is clearly a noise difference when the computer is in idle or gaming.
In the end of the day it is not a surprise, the fan is designed to cool a 120mm radiator, so the static pressure needs to be high, but frankly I do not feel very comfortable with its noise 😊

I replaced the fan with a Noctua F12 PWM, connected to the motherboard. I've been struggling to make a profile in bios (I have IX Apex ROG), unfortunately I cannot create a profile depending on the temperature of the video card and frankly I hate using Windows utilities for this.

With Noctua F12 PWM, in idle the fan stays up to 4-500 rpm (damn silent), and the temperature of the video card is 45C +/-, then in superposition it goes more than 63C (but that's because the processor is not so used in this benchmark, therefore the fan does not go to the maximum), but in AC Origins it stabilizes at 56C after several hours of play (1400 rpm +/-, there is some sound at that speed, but during gaming it does not bother me).

Re: EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid 2018/01/25 22:24:59 (permalink)
Id say crank the fan..  Don't forget to adjust the fan on the card as well that cools the VRAM (Power).

Id just set the rad fan to whatever the max is you can bare. So if that's 75% then set it.

Personally when I had my 1080 FTW hybrid I had a corsair SP120 HP fan on it and plugged it into a fan splitter other then the card and let it eat at 100% and I could not hear it over my other fans. Card never seen 40C on load and that was with 2 in SLI.

Obviously the colder it runs the better it will clock. So if you can control the temps better at idle you stand a better hot of keeping it colder on load. Temps at idle should be in the 20-30c i'm betting. And on load it should stick to under 50c most likely 45Cish.

The fan on the card.. control that with evgas precision x oc. Get that pumping at 40c and up.. so again in the fan curve in PXOC have it stay at like 30% at idle temps.. but when she hits 40c and up as it will on load set it again to the max you can bare.

She what she boosts to after that with the power/temp sliders maxed and voltage maxed as well.

Also theres a bios switch on the card to the left of the cards power connections. Use the slave/LN2 position as it will give you more power.

EDIT: Btw.. i've got the same card coming but I get to wait till Tuesday! hehe. :/  For the 2nd Rig/Sons.

I would love to have this model card in my first pc build. Yet coming from Mac, the switch has become a pain in the behind as for all the weird stuff going on about graphics cards in terms of availability and pricing.

I'm assuming you have altered the fan curve for the shroud fan?

You might be hearing the sound increase from the shroud fan in games.

You have similar specs to my rig =)

(and maybe a tweet from Jacob Freeman at EVGA)

Wish I would have got in on that! Now seems like it will be impossible to get two of those haha

Noobie question, Im trying to learn more about the card and overclocking it, I used xoc to over clock it a bit, max voltage, max power and temp, set gpu offset to +97 left mem offset alone has im not sure where to put it at, Im stable at 2088mhz but cant seem to get her past that, do i need to mess with the slave bios or should i leave that alone?

I am have Phantek shift case.  I don't think I can drop a card in any taller than ~111mm.  The FTW cards (even hybrid) are all 128mm tall.  What is up with the added height?

Hi, Hard to see from pic but did you cut the rear of case to get rad through?????       I'm looking at doing the same thing as I don't have much room in my case and not really worried about aesthetics.

Thanks

keep an eye on the evga bundles. they had the ftw hybrids bundled with a mobo for not much more than the card itself.
those are gone for now, but evga may be getting more FTW3 Hybrids in very soon. keep refreshing the product page and make sure to check the box for "In stock"
keep refreshing and keep looking at the bundles links.

buy the bundle, sell the mobo if you have no need for it.
the ftw3 hybrid is an absolute beast of a card

another alternative is to get a standard 3 fan FTW3 and then purchase the FTW3 Hybrid conversion kit that evga sells.
Elite members get a nice discount from msrp. $149 vs $179 if I recall correctly.

This worked very well for me:

It's a guide for setting radiator fan speeds, connected to motherboard fan headers, based on GPU temperature. Just like you wanted.

I tried this, but SpeedFan would not read the fans with my motherboard (Gigabyte Z270). I posted an alternative here:

I used this cable, which is thin enough to be routed between the hoses like the original fan cable. It's a bit long so I coiled it around one of the hoses.

Just plug your fan into card using 4Pin PWM to 3Pin Fan Adapter, it will use voltage to control your PWM fan, so it will be variable speed based on GPU temperature.

So far mine is great but it cannot go over 116% on the OC Bios.

I read about this card and never had anything water cooled before. Does it require any maintenance other than the occasion al dusting?
