I looked for a while to see if anyone had done something like this, but didn't come up with anything. I had replaced the stock radiator fan with two NZXT AER's, plugged into my GB motherboard. The fan controller software did not offer an option to create a curve based on GPU temperature, though. It wasn't a problem, but this was nagging at me because I wanted to control those fans based on GPU temp.
On the teardown video of the FTW3, I noticed that in the hybrid, the FAN1 plug was not being used at all. The stock fan is plugged into and run off the same plug as the pump. I decided to try and plug in a 4 pin mini-gpu to 4 pin PWM fan header, split that out, and then run the fans directly off the GPU.
And it worked! For the most part. I can't get a true 0% (not a big deal), probably because of how the AER is made, but I am able to control the fans from the Precision software.
It's a bit of a hack job. I could get an extender long enough to go from the GPU header to run between the hoses like the original fan does.

Quick question, does anyone know what the capacitor marked with the red arrow do, and if it's really needed to be attached to the PCB? I'm asking for a friend.
