What cable did you buy? I ordered this one recently: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=115-003F-00027Got that one from the display port site as certified, instead of relaying on manufacturer' claims http://www.displayport.org/products-database/ there are only a handful of cables that are approved according to their site I don't have the cable yet, but my current cable seems to be causing problems with detection when resuming from sleep. Hopefully this will help with that.

Looks like I am having exact same problem. Just bought a new rig yesterday, and my display port stops working when starting windows 7. I also upgraded all drivers on the FTW GTX 970 thinking it would fix it, but it did not. My old regular monitor works fine on the dvi port. Could also be something with my new samsung 4k monitor, the new 28 inch one. Running all this on high end psu, and an asus x99 deluxe mobo. It has to be some sort of driver not getting alng with a samsung 4k. Will have to take card back I guess and buy the asus oc card.

EVGA admitted that there is an hardware flaw while connecting maxwell cards on Display Port 1.1 monitor. After I asked it they offered me the refund of my cards since they don't have working cards at the moment. this is their answer: Hello, so far I did get the feedback that this issue is releated to the screens, some screens do have issues with the latest DP 1.2 standards. Thats why I have not faced the same issue during my testing. We did get back to the place of purchase, Drako IT, to refund you the cards. Please get back to them by tomorrow to arrange this. Please be aware that you will face this issue probably also with other actually cards. Regards, Very nice to see that they test cards in display 1.2 mode only. I belive it, surely! They are selling defective products and they know about the flaws, congratulations to nvidia and to evga!

The 344.48 drivers actually fixed my display port problem as it was a driver problem on my side.

There is a quick fix for this issue as I posted in my thread and it may annoy some of you. 1. shutdown and Unplug the display port cable. 2. Plug in an hdmi or dvi cable. 3. Boot into windows. 4. You should get to your desktop and once there plug the display port cable in. Wait a few seconds for the screen to flash. Then unplug the dvi or hdmi cable. 5. It should switch over to the display port it may take a few seconds. Of course if you shut down or restart you will need to do this again. Of course Asus swift users are sol. This has worked 100% of the time for me. The bug is caused by the Nvidia driver failing to initialize the display port at start up and resulting in a black screen. Of course plugging in the hdmi cable at that time does not work because the display driver then crashes. Hope this helps your techs Manuel to get a fi and to know what to look for. If you are experiencing black screens while gaming and are running sli it's caused by the voltage bug in the driver . It's best to use a single Gpu until it's fixed.

Do what I've recommended above. Shutdown, unplug the display port cable, plug in an hdmi cable, turn the system back on, wait for windows to load. Once windows is loaded, plug the display port in, wait a few seconds the screen will flash indicating the display port has been initialized. Unplug the hdmi cable, Windows will then make the display port the primary monitor and it will work until your restart or shutdown and then you will need to do this all over again. This is a driver issue with the 970/980 cards, using an 295x2 and 290x works fine. This is the only work around that I've found until NVIDIA can release a driver that fixes this issue along with the SLI voltage problem, and poor SLI scaling as compared to AMD.

in my case the problem starts in bios so it isn't a driver problem.

I have several Asus monitors that run Display port as well as EVGA 680, 780 FTW, and the new 980 SC. I have been having issues both of my computer since the last two rounds of October drivers. It is random and tied to the drivers not the cards. I have been running the same monitors for 2 to 3 years and not had this issue unit GeForce Experience pushed the last two sets of drivers then all the cards started having issues.

I have this issue but with HDMI unfortunately, plugging in an Oculus Rift. In windows at least its treated as just a dumb monitor and sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. Right now it won;t see it at all with one GTX980 plugged in, though it was working earlier with two in SLI. That said a couple of days ago, the opposite was true. I tried to do the dispdiag routine but no file is generated, I tried 4 times. I guess this is the cost of being an early adopter huh?

I'm having the same problem. Rampage V Extreme, dual EVGA 980's, intel 5960x, 64 gb of memory, dual Samsung UD590 4k monitors. I have the latest bios, and NVidia drivers. It takes 3+ boot ups to load windows. I reinstalled windows 8.1 all the Asus drivers and no luck.

I hope it's not card issues. see above for rig info I did forget the CPU. If anyone else has any other luck please let me know Intel I-7 5960x

I am running 2 evga 980 classifieds and using display port with monitor acer xb270h 1080p 144hz gsync. I am running 347.09 drivers. When I restart cpu my monitor does not recognize, just black screen, I turn off monitor and do a force shut down and then turn monitor back on and that seems to fix it. Sometimes requires 2 times on forced shutdown...can anyone explain what's going on? Thought this was fixed in 344 drivers? My sig is updated below for my cpu specs. Thanks for the help!

I have the problem with DP when I need to turn off the monitor while the computer is on and when I turn it back on it says no signal and I have to reboot the computer to get the monitor show the desktop again. I made sure to purchase the cables that were on the VESA approved site and still having issues. This is ridiculous.

Anyone having issues should open a support ticket for their card and ask about an updated bios. Let support know what monitor you are using. There may be a bios update to help here. I got one a couple days ago and it solved all my issues with a u28d590d 4K monitor using displayport.

This solution came up on a different post for: Blank screen after boot into Windowshttp://forums.evga.com/Cant-load-Windows-using-780-Ti-Superclocked-GPUs-in-SLI-m2296222.aspx#2296821 schmorblatz "if I hit CTL-ALT-DEL, the task menu pops up from nowhere" I had exactly the same problem today, after installing some software... Just Ctrl+Alt+Del working. Suspecting a blocking process, I searched through the list, and found an installation process. I killed this process, and desktop came back. Then I searched for this file in the registry : it was listed here : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce I deleted the key : problem solved. In my case, the problem was related to an install program, needing a system restart and an internet access, and I use Windows Firewall in advanced mode : everything (in and out) is blocked, if not explicitly allowed to connect to the web. This install program went in an infinite loop, waiting for an Internet access. Your problem could be related to a blocking process...
