What games do you guys recommend to try out on 3080 that look really impressive? Had a gtx 970 for past 6 years and was also console gaming at the same time, but i have been buying some games on sale past couple weeks while waiting for 3080, got metro exodus, doom eternal, death stranding, horizon zero dawn, control.

Mafia Definitive Edition is another beautiful game (and the puddle reflections will make you think RTX, but they aren't!). It's a remaster of the original, so it's definitely more of a story driven game. I've enjoyed all of the Mafia series, so I'm a bit biased. I hear Borderlands 3 is GPU hog, but I'm waiting on a big discount for that one. Battlefield V also uses RTX, but I'm not a huge FPS multi-player fan so I've not tried it. Watch Dogs Legions and Cyberpunk 2077 both are coming out fairly soon. Both use RTX, and Cyberpunk is highly anticipated.

yeah im excited for those 2 but i was thinking wdl was coming oct 19th but its 29th so got a bit of wait for that and cp2077. Have you played control with ray tracing? If you did what do you think about those reflections? I dont think i can play it without those after seeing them but they are a huge performance hit and im still not sure how i feel about dlss after seeing comparison videos of it to native 4k rendering

I forgot about Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey. Also Mass Effect Andromeda. All have been out for a while, but all great games with great graphics. I haven't gotten deep into Far Cry 5 yet, or Far Cry New Dawn, but they look good as well. Same for Rage 2 (but beware the Vsync vehicle upgrade game freeze bug).

control is really good, i played it on ps4pro and xbox1x and picked it up on pc the day it was out on steam, if you like stuff about secret govt organizations like dharma from lost then you will really like it

Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Yeah the characters are annoying and unlikable. And the story stinks. But it looks great in RTX 4k with everything cranked to max and you can also try out DLSS 2.0 which is a rare option in games right now. The shooting/gameplay is definitely fun as well.

I think RDR2 maxed out is possibly the best looking game that's ever been made. A close 2nd is the Two Colonels DLC.

No I mean Colonels. I am talking graphics. Colonels is drop dead gorgeous to look at. I thought Sam's story looked similar to the regular campaign which I found to sometimes be foggy looking with dull color.

Maybe you didn't stop and really look at it? The lighting is amazing. And there is so much graphical detail. Those tunnels come alive when you fire off that flame thrower. And the RTX features are subtle but really beautiful. I tried to post one of my screenshots but it wont let me.

RDR2 on max settings runs about 47 fps on my 3090 - that is hands down the best looking game out there. Such great natural environments. Tomb raider is pretty darn good looking and maxed out is around 100fps. Battlefield V looks decent as far as environments and does 100 fps but characters are poor. Doom Eternal to me is the next best as far as buttery smooth graphics and really crisp models and textures, super sharp and no visible jaggies.
On opposite spectrum- Control looks like trash, not sure what I am doing wrong or what others are thinking - but it has washed out colors, there is no sharpness, like vasaline is on the lens the whole time, textures are super-low quality and fuzzy, there’s this post-processing effect that makes things look ****ties - I just don’t get it- probably worst graphics of any game out in the past 5 years.

47 fps at 4k? I tested a 3090 for about a week with RDR2 at 3440 x 1440 with a 9700k and I was getting 85-100 depending on the scene. (my monitor maxes out at 100 hz) Gigabyte OC edition 3090

i really wish reviewers would say the settings they used, i already have rdr2 but yet to play it but ive seen reviews for 3080 that got 80+ fps at what they claimed was 4k at max settings but clearly it wasnt at max settings then

Wait you ar not even talking 4K - please tell me you realize you are not comparing apples to apples. You are pushing 1440P which is 4.9M pixels, and I'm talking 4K which pushes 8.3M pixels.. that's 66% more pixels I'm pushing... that's no comparison bud.

I would recommend Death Stranding and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. They are only best for 3080. Their graphics are awesome and super realistic. And there are a lot of interesting and useful hacks that I discovered there.

In case anyone didn't hear, Metro Exodus is getting an enhanced edition with DLSS 2.0 and better raytracing. Might be good to wait on playing until that comes out. Great looking game regardless, my only grip is that HDR doesn't work properly if DLSS is enabled (currently). Haven't played RDR2 yet, but I have to agree on Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It's the best looking game I've played so far. Doom Eternal runs amazing, but it has a very stylized look that is not super impressive, but still really good (and it's an amazing game).

Gears expansion Hivebusters looked just crazy really pushed my 3090 to the limit at 4K
And the game was kinda good also 💪🏻💪🏻
