We have been working to ramp up production on the new heatsink which was a new process ( doing an all black heatsink ). This is a reality of trying new and different design implementations. Availability is expecting to be in early June.

Re: Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q 2014/06/09 12:48:14 (permalink)
I want to like,...but this is slightly worrying - "

What type of panel does the ROG SWIFT use?

The SWIFT features a newly developed high quality and ultra high performance native 8bit TN panel. This considerably improves on the overall quality of the panel especially when compared to majority of TN monitors based on 6 bit or 8 bit panels featuring frc & dithering.  """

...and in case someone asks why ? -
Summary of LCD Panel Technology
  • S-IPS/H-IPS/Super PLS panels are generally considered the best all around panel type, but they are more expensive and very few are made. High end, expensive.
  • S-PVA/MVA/VA panels offer better color reproduction and viewing angles than TN panels, have slightly worse response times than TN or IPS, offer the best contrast ratios, may suffer from color shifting or input lag and have higher availability than IPS and Super PLS panels. Mid range, fair price.
  • TN panels are very cheap and have the fastest response times, but suffer from inferior color reproduction, contrast ratios and viewing angles. The majority of LCD monitors produced use TN panels. Low end, inexpensive.

Look forward to more in-depth reviews and info on this.....

I so much hate it....not enough performance, bad game and drivers optimization...damn when is Nvidia going to move on? Let's hope that GTA 5 will be optimized in the end of the year so we can play it on that monitor on 3D...

Yah I saw that in the youtube feed. =( man I was really hoping with Acer's 4k 28" 60hz G-sync monitor release the Swift/Asus would lower the price.

I'm searching everyday for pre-order sites. Tweet'd to Paul at Newegg asking about a possible pre-order on Newegg. Waiting to hear back.

Based on the fact that there is no other 1440p 120Hz monitor on the market (oc'd korean panels aside) and the constant clamoring from enthusiasts waiting with baited breath for Asus to get this to market (the ocn discussion thread is currently at 365 pages, and nobody's ever even seen the actual monitor yet) there is little chance anything short of a congressional mandate is going to bring down the price on the PG278Q.

Honestly, I think the first ones to grab them at release will be lucky to get in before the price goes even higher due to excess demand (see also: R290X)

Hmm, Q3 is a pretty big time frame.  Was hoping for something more specific...  I see all the "G-sync monitor Mfgr's" show the same thing...available worldwide Q3.
