I can only imagine the backorder will be months, with EVGA having to ship so many units to so many retailers. Could be wrong though of coarse.

The few hundred people who got their preorders in on the 18th from Adorama are in better shape than other etailers, who were taking possibly thousands of backorders over the course of half a day or more.
The Adorama backorder rush lasted roughly 2-3 hours and an estimated 300 or so orders were provided to the public.
My gut tells me before the 3rd or 4th week of October. Jacob via Twitter seems very confident in the shipment of stock to US etailers the past few days.

I say they will ship this week. Just me trying my best to stay optimistic. Lol But seriously though. We already know they only took orders for an exact amount of cards that they themselves have said they know are coming. How could you already know the exact amount you're allocated if they're still weeks out? Makes no sense to me. But what do I know lol.

Jacob says no new cards on EVGA website this week most likely. But it sounds to me like distributors will have more this week.
Our cards will be at Adorama this week boys. I feel good about it.

The backorders are simply a Plan B. I don’t have much time throughout my days to sit in front of computer and hit F5 every minute or so. I’m a fairly patient dude so I am content knowing I have a backorder at a reputable website who took a few hundred preorders only.
I do hope the backorders are fulfilled within the end of October. But I’m certain by then the cards will be more numerous and it will be ‘easier’ compared to now.
Plus I don’t mind waiting because I need a waterblock for the 3080 FTW3 as well.

I said I'd cancel my pre-order by mid-October (3080 FTW3 Ultra) and might even sooner. Sit it out and wait for a 3080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid or HC with more cores and a higher power limit. Initially was planning to just test it out then sell it off, but the hype train is is free fall. Getting a 3080 FTW3, upgrading my case to fit 240mm hybrid rad or custom, upgrading cpu AIO or going custom loop, installing hybrid kit or waterblock......could spend $400-$800, plus the nearly $900 card............to get what, 15%, maybe 20% gains over my 2080 Ti Hybrid that already maxes out my 4K 60Hz most of the time? Seems like quite the rathole to go down at this point. Granted I could just run it on air but that would be no fun.

The 2070S FTW3 is a great card, make sure you crank up the power limit. You'll probably get your step up card some time in Feb or March. WARNING
Anyone currently considering buying a lower end card to get in the step up que needs to fully read and understand the terms:

- When I stepped up to a 2080 Ti in mid-2019 it took me about a month to complete the process and have a 2080 Ti in hand. This was well after the launch in Sept '18. It took months for some of the people who signed up in '18.
- I did it because I wasn't getting enough out of the 2080 I had bought for 4K gaming, 2080 Ti's were generally available at the time from many sources.
- You reserve your step-up model at Step 1, so any step-ups started now get the FTW3 card
- Supposedly Step-Up cards are from *available inventory* and are normally reference cards. If vendors are demanding cards and cards are constantly selling out, there will not be cards made available, or maybe they will make just a few available at a time. Step-ups are last priority for who gets cards.
- If reference cards are in lower demand / higher availability, eventually they will be the Step-Up option, this could change any day.
- People have been discussing doing step-up on various other forums for the last month or so. The list is a mile long now and anyone serious about it signed up right when it became live.
- The program is to allow people to upgrade who need more performance, not to "pre-order" them.
- There is extremely high demand for 3080 step-ups, far more than 2080 Ti's two years ago.
- You definitely will be able to buy a card outright in the next month or two, faster than using step-up.
- The only way I would step up right now is if I HAD TO ABSOLUTELY get a gpu for my machine RIGHT NOW and was OK with waiting several months, paying full MSRP, and the downtime to step up. Granted, this does let you spread out the cash outlay.
- IMHO, anyone who orders a lower card TODAY and starts a step-up when they get it, will not get a step-up 3080 in hand until some time in 2021. ^my post from another thread.

Same here. The fact that evga is not selling any cards on their site tells me that 1. There will be hundreds if not thousands going to etailers and retail this week 2. Evga will have a large amount of units for sale sometime early next week when they fix their checkout issues. I certainly hope it is option 1 for us patient backorder recipients. If we don’t get our allocation at Adorama, then at least we have a fighting chance next week. Jacob will give us the drop on Twitter for sure as a week of not selling units would require a fairly substantial announcement to make ends meet for their customers.
