That tweet is a total BS Newegg was one of the sites that I kept refreshing from 6AM to 7:15AM , the only card that was available to order was the MSI Ventus I have a photo to prove it to

Yeah, the site never once showed available. Sometimes it didn't say "out of order" but it didn't have an option to purchase. I think I actually got it on video.

I got nailed by the PS5 pre-order mess and then a few short hours later I was able to get screwed by the 3080 launch as well. I can't wait until the same thing happens for the SX. I'm excited.

Don't know. Someone did post a chat with Newegg.ca and apparently in Canada Newegg only had 90 units per model in all of Canada. And 100 for another AIB. If we estimate based on that, assuming that the chat log was legit, there was probably no more than 15,000-20,000 RTX 3080 cards for sale from retailers *for all of Canada!* That is an insanely low allocation and it would seem there simply was not a lot available for anyone, anywhere. USA probably had more, but how much more? Even let's say only 100k units for all of USA is a tiny amount for the high demand.

I sided with Moore's Law is Dead on youtube, and didn't even join the bustle this morning. I have to wait for when these things get restocked, even if they are going to be worse quality than the ones on launch. However, there is going to be a 3080 with 20GB of VRAM that will be going for 1000 when it comes out sometime over the next month. Maybe that will be the one to go for. If it really does come out, I would feel sorry for the people buying the 3090 for 1600-1700 that has only 4GB more of VRAM, compared to the 1000 for a new 3080 with 20 GB of VRAM. This whole launch is just a giant F you to the cutomer in my opinion... I'm really leaning towards AMD now. The whole point of this launch is to get more money out of the cards and inflate prices for when they decide to release more stock. That was the only point of this launch. They were not trying to sell these things to everybody, they were trying to cultivate a frenzy and they succeeded. TL;DR Wait Until October for when the 20 GB and 16GB cards come out, NVidia is purposefully releasing low numbers of stock to artificially inflate the price via AIB manufacturers over the coming month and a half to increase margins. This is artificial scarcity, and stocks will magically reappear around AMD's launch.

You don't know if new cards are going to come out with 20GB or 16GB and if you choose to wait for something better (in general) you'll be stuck in a loop of just waiting or "I should have waited" as new things are coming out at all times.

What's crazy is people here were warning about it and even I didn't understand what they were going on about. I remember reading "What are you going to do about the bots?" threads here a few days ago but now I can't find them. Basically NV and EVGA did nothing and had they allowed pre-orders it's my understanding that this would not have been possible.
