All seem high to me.. you need to crank those fans.  After 50C id be doing 100% since the card is working hard and the cooler the better sustained boost clock.  Those even 75% be better then what that's running now. Tweak the fan curve of ea GPU,Mem and power.

yeah i gotcha, this seems normal for being default at least, before it was hitting 84C after a few minutes.

Here it is in my system

Whats that legato gaming card next to the GPU?  Can you move that to the slot above the GPU?  Kinda close to the GPU fan.

Anyways.. I got like 53-54C max on the gpu during benchmarks like firestrike 4k ultra and timespy. Same if not lower in gaming. That's with an aggressive fan curve starting at 40% idle and cranked to 80% at 45C and 100% 50c and after.  Room temps of 72f.

The mem and power were in the upper 40-50c.

You need to use the slave bios. Then crank the power/temp slider and max out the voltage slider and see how she boosts in benches or games. :)

I got about the same maxed out fans with full power target, and it ran fine on superposition benchmark

~70C is the sweet-spot for gaming on air to keep the noise down while eliminating excessive clock reduction by Nvidia Boost 3.0 seen at higher temps.

Great to see you finally got a working card!

For sure. Even though I had to replace the thermal paste, it's going great so far

Great to hear things are sorted out for you. Waiting for my second 1080 Ti FTW3 ... I hope I won't run into similar issues . Sending the card back for RMA is hell for me. I'm not located in the US.

And if you set your card to slave bios and increased the voltage to maximum like AHowes said, it will keep the card's clock at 1930's - 1940's if you have the fan profile aggressive or at 100% .. it will make a significant difference in benchmarks , like super position.

I tried that yesterday and it ran pretty stable!  I have never played with the voltage and stuff before though.  https://www.3dmark.com/spy/2985740

You can't hurt it. The card has a 1.093v limit and setting it to 100% just allows the card to use it if needed. But it won't use it if one does not also max the power limit. Remove all power before swaping the bios. Slave bios will use higher power limit. Adjust the fan curves for all 3 first to keep her cool and open her up!

yep! thats what i did, set it at 127% power with a +15 offset for both just to see how stable it is

I got this today

RMA Received Damaged:
Notes: Your EVGA Graphics Card was received in with white paint on shroud. EVGA's warranty does not extend to cover this type of damage. We do however offer the option for you to pay for a replacement in order to support and allow you to complete return for this RMA.

Yeah thats a bit absurd because I immediately replaced it after.

Edit:
Luckily I uploaded an image the first week of December to them about it so it looks like its getting solved.

Edit2:manager told me that I had to still pay for the shroud..

So your saying the card you had was an rma'ed card that already had the white paint on the shroud.. and this is the card you sent them back and now there blamming you for it and making you pay for a new shroud??

If so I hope you didn't agree to pay for it.

so the manager told me that I would have to pay the fee within 7 days or i might be charged the full amount for the shroud.  The reason is because they would never send out a card like this, but yet sent me 2 defective cards.

I have no choice but to pay that amount.

Zaruchen did you paint the shroud in any way shape or form at all?

I'm just trying to clarify because none of your other post seem to be 100% definitive as to whether or not you painted it.

If you truly did not paint it, then I wouldn't pay either. Do they have your credit card info?

As for the manager saying that they wouldn't have shipped the card out to you like that, well in this post in the warranty section: https://forums.evga.com/PSU-RMA-rejected-because-of-a-minor-scratch-m2742985.aspx
A user took a picture of a badly damaged AIO which it seems (if that post and picture is legitimate) EVGA's RMA department let pass through.

So with that said, mistakes do happen and no one is perfect, but you shouldn't be paying for the RMA departments mistake (if they actually did send it to you with paint on it).

If you did paint it though, then yeah, pay them.

I have no reason to paint the card, they clarified that it was a scuff that made the black paint go off . I was in the middle of 2 RMAs so I did not touch it other than to put it and take it out the system.

THe manager said that there is no way they would send a card out with any physical damage like that and said that theres no other choice. If i did not want to pay they would charge me anyways after a few days. Jesus, I had to go through 3 RMAs to get a working card, I logged everything just to prove that I tested it thoroughly and now I get this from them.

Here is the image they sent me, keep in mind i sent them an image back within 2 days because I noticed it after taking it out of the system.

Over the top ridiculous! How could you of done thst and why?? Someone please explain what someone did to the card to cause this??

How could someone scuff up the shroud where this mark is by handling it or inserting or removing it?? It's not like it's in an area where someone would ha for the card.. like where you plug in the power connections.

To me it looks like this cooler was in a box of many coolers in the warehouse and that's how it got scuffed up.. a worker pulled the cooler out and slapped it on a card and put it in the brown box and you got it.

Also I'm sure this was the brown boxed card that you was told was new as well.. not.

Criminal to say you did this and you need to pay.. it's clearly there over site by letting this threw there rma department.

Pretty much done with evga after the 117% limit to there ftw3 and kingpin custom cards and this and other stories I've read about there customer support.

I'll take my chances elsewhere next time.

After everything you just went through with your rma'SSS... They should be bending over backwards for you, and you even notified them of the paint damage, wow...I mean normally if someone damages their cards finish they don't then rat themselves out by contacting the manufacturer to tell them about it, so it seems obvious to me at least that you must have received it like that.

Please update us and let us know if they actually go through with charging you, because if so I'm with AHowes in possibly going elsewhere with my future purchases, because what you're going through isn't right.

Especially after seeing what this poor guy just went through too https://forums.evga.com/PSU-RMA-rejected-because-of-a-minor-scratch-m2742985.aspx

Re: System hangs for 2 seconds at startup 2018/01/06 06:53:04 (permalink)
The only reason that I chose EVGA was was because of the superior customer/warranty service that everyone claims existed. It saddens me to see that they are pulling these stunts. This is the same level of crap that other brands pull to mitigate RMA/warranty losses. I was just about ready to start the process to build a 7980xe/Kingpin system but between the Intel security/performance hit issue, the FTW 3 power issues, and now this RMA situation has put a stop to that. It is disappointing to see EVGA drop down to their competitors level of tactics to bilk their customer base out of additional money or the performance level that the promised in the first place. I just turned down a potential client yesterday and pointed him to this thread, the FTW3 power issue thread and some of the related Intel articles to show them why. They still want the system built because when I do put together a build for someone, I usually agree to handle maintenance and hardware issues for them. Right now, the extra money this system would bring in is not worth the headache that the Intel/EVGA issues would bring along with it.

One of the reasons I recommend EVGA to other people is while a person usually pays a little more for their product, that person is buying piece of mind. They are buying EVGA's customer service even more so than the physical hardware. This post, the FTW3 power post, and the psu scratch post are really diminishing EVGAs high selling points. How can I recommend EVGA customer service when these issues exist. I'm not implying that I am some kind of professional system builder, I do it for extra money for a very few select people who know that I will do what I can to make them happy with the money they spent. Right now I cannot confidently tell people that EVGA warranty/customer service warrants the increased price. Like AHowes and Stackermodder777, depending on how EVGA handles these situations, it might be time to jump ship and look at another brand for future purchases. To put it bluntly, EVGA just went from a "go to supplier" to one of the many "take your chances with this manufacturer" list. That means, they went from guaranteed money to a chance at money.

Hopefully, EVGA will correct these issues. I will keep following to see how this plays out, but for now I am trying to convince the people that I deal with to wait it out and I am suspending my own 7980xe build.

This almost looks like the Plastic Cover that you have to remove on a New Card Melted on the Shroud.
Over time it turned this Color. It also could be stuck on material when the Shroud was removed and lied on another surface.
Then it could be Paint and only having to "pay the fee" to replace is not a big deal, what was the Fee?
If you look close at the upper right out side of the Red Box you see a little as well.

It also could be a lot of information has not found it's way to the Thread.

Or even the plastic film was laid over the shroud and that edge was still wet at the factory and it pulled the paint off removing the film?

Nope
No where in this Thread have I see the OP post that all three of the Cards tested on a Different Monitor?
Seem maybe no real fresh cool air is reaching the Card if the front of the case is being blocked.
Maybe not as the front has then three fans.

plenty of fresh air is coming front front the half inch spacing from the glass as well as the sidepanels they have a gap between the glass and the case itself, plenty of air can get through there as well.

Next time I will remember to stream all my testing just to provide more proof

All the cards I've gotten have had great temps in this case, including the one I have now. All I can say is I've taken care of each card I have gotten, even the one I initially sent in is flawless.

I called in a day or so after I got the card and spoke to a representative as well as uploaded a picture of it to them and they said it was fine. A few weeks later since I kept the card ebcause the other RMA was worse. I called them again just to make sure it was fine and they said it was. After the holidays when they were able to finally check the card, they sent me pictures of the same scuffing I posted on my support tickets. I talked to 2 people who talked to the manager and the manager said I had to pay it anyways and that was that. I asked of there was anyone else I can talk to and the representative said no one else. So Basically I am forced to pay that amount because it will automatically charge me after 7 days after they showed me the pictures of the damage.

"Wouldn't send it out like that" That's rediculous man. My first Kingpin that I received from Scan had chipped paint, too! Not even that severe, but still I let Scan swap the card immediately. I knew from someone else reporting that EVGA isn't RMAing a card with chipped paint. And mine came fresh and sealed from a factory just like that. A 1100€ card! That's 1323$ in the US. QA at it's best and then blaming the customer. I would refuse and tell them you have proof that you received the card just like that.

Wow. I would have been mad if my kingpin card came like that. Glad mine was perfect.

It is called a returned Card and then resold as New Card when I really is a used Card...Newegg and Amazon do this.
Mostly by 3rd Party Sellers.
Never heard of Scan before, what are they and are they an Authorized Seller?

Sounds like a factory paint defect! Possably just like the original posters card!

Maybe chips on the assembly line or the shroud surface wasn't totally clean when painted and the paint came off when removing the plastic coating.
