Well, All I know is I would NEVER wish anyone to lose their license.

I would. There are a lot of terrible drivers that are a fatal car accident just waiting to happen. My Aunt was ultimately killed and my Uncle forever disabled by someone with a terrible driving record and a history (7) car accidents.

Okay, That's different though. I've been driving for 6 years and this is my first accident, I know there's people that go their whole lives without an accident, But like I'm a very defensive driver, I just didn't anticipate it with this one, Because I hadn't owned it for too long (2 weeks?) and didn't know how it'd react.

Six years is not that long. I had a number of accidents when I was younger. Totaled 7 cars in various circumstances. Some my fault, some not. One day things will make sense. I have not had an accident in 25 years. I also had a number of speeding tickets. It is amazing that when I stopped speeding, I stopped having accidents. Coincidence? I think not.

It will work out, just slow down and be patient, in this situation and behind the wheel.

Don't blame the car. Give yourself more room to anticipate how the car will handle the situation in the future, especially when you have just purchased the car.

I guarantee you that if I was speeding, It would have been worse than this.

It happens, What's done is done. I was too close, Couldn't stop in time due to an issue that is not believable (Except for kram, He probably believes me a bit now that he heard them mention that issue on Motor Trend)

But it's cool, That's the reason I post these. I like to be involved in back and forths. =P

I certainly am not blaming you or did I say I did not believe you. Things happen quickly. Just realize that and give yourself more room. No blame, just reflection and analysis on what can benefit you in the future. Gotta take the positive and move on. I read that article also in Motor Trend. That is a known issue with that year and model. But being in many situations like that, I can say that things happen very quickly even at 35 mph.

Also! I proved it today.. when two cars where at a red light and I stopped a car and 1/2 @ 45. No tire Lock btw.. So I didn't skid.. AND! Didn't leave any mess on the nice white salted roads.  Need to get a dashcam just to prove my point.

I can tell you tho.. I break in under that sense, not using stock tires.. nor stock breaks tho they are disc breaks x4.

Exactly, even at 40 mph. If you could, you would have major trauma to your chest from the seatbelt or would be a projectile through the windshield. The force and energy necessary to stop you is extreme at that speed for that distance.

I can tell you tho.. I break in under that sense, not using stock tires.. nor stock breaks tho they are disc breaks x4.

First of all, they're called "brakes", not "breaks".

Second, Nearly every car in existence today has disc brakes on all 4 corners, so you bringing up the fact that "you stop quicker than xxx car because you have disc brakes" does not make any sense at all. Your stopping power is a function of coefficient of friction, reaction time, vehicle weight, tires, pad size and compound, disc size and compound, and to a lesser extent caliper design.

Lastly, unless you have a stretch LGT, you're not braking at 1.5 car lengths at 45. That is physically impossible, and would assume that you are able to out-brake an F1 car.

I can believe that many cars can do 45-0 in 1.5 car lengths, if you measure in railroad car lengths.

I don't go by km/h. <.< My car will accelerate 0-60 in 5.3 seconds.. <.<  Get's a hell of a jump on say a Mustang under 5.0 with half the engine capacity.. and Horse Power thanks to AWD & a hefty turbo.

I got a speeding ticket doing of 62 in a 45... I seen the cop I was pushing 95 in a 45 mph zone,  by the time he clocked me I was @ 62.

Got it knocked down to running a red light, defensive driving and a $250 fine.

Cop was hiding off in the woods, and I was on a straight away down a hill.

I hate to tell you this but your subaru isn't doing 0-60 in 5.3 stock either. And no its not a hell of a jump on any new car. Anything in the less 5 years with decent power will pull you (myself included). You are truly oblivious to life if you believe you can stop as fast as you think you can stop. My guess is from 60-0 you're in the 120ft range, and from 40 somewhere in the 70ft range. Don't kid yourself about how fast you believe you can stop, you're gonna kill someone thinking you have more stopping power than you actually do.

Well a Subaru definitely pulled beside me and tried to be an ass on the road and show off for his girlfriend... I let him beat me off the line get two car lengths ahead (not much I know) then launched... I caught up to him in about 6 seconds (slow I know) and passed him... He flipped me the bird and almost rear ended me lolZ... Anyways either his car sucked or I'm a better driver than he...

You know Rush most of those people that have not had an accident their whole lives usually tend to live in low populated traffic areas. And since you live in LA which is the most populated city in America its a high probability for a lot to get in some kind of accident.

I have drive well over 300K miles: Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, LA, San Dirego and many more.  I have never rear-ended anybody.  You may say pure Luck, I do not think so.

Following distance, speed and looking several cars ahead is in your control.  What other drivers do is not in your control.  Basic defensive driving - have an out and anticipate.

Rush you have just had an expensive learning experience.

Count your blessings that nobody got hurt; apply what you have learned and drive a little more aware that other drivers do stupid things.

If CA is like my home state; take defensive driving and earn points credits towards any future ticket. (seems like you need them)   You will save on your insurance after completing defensive driving and may even learn how to better protect yourself from the squires on the road.  (my tag for some of the oblivious or crazy drivers I see; darting about.)

Definition of insanity:  Do the same thing over and over and expect different results.

They didn't cover me, I swear if she would've called me back like she told me, The car would have been repaired by now.

She said they would cover the other car, I told her she's dumb if she thought I was going to file a claim on an $1,000 repair.

I would still contact a lawyer to see what can be done. Insurance companies always try to screw people over.

Sorry bro.  Good luck on what you do next.  Legal means or just fixing it.  Sucks.

Hey Rush how long was the period from when you took posession of the car until the accident?

Edit: Another thing I was thinking for them denying your coverage is if you have a history of using the car for illegal activities like racing or driving at dangerous speeds on the street. I know someone that is an investigator for an insurance company and she told me she looks at everything including social media. I say this because I believe you have a video on your You Tube channel showing you go from a standstill on the edge of the highway and you accelerated to over 120Mph weaving in and out of traffic in your new car. That would be a sure fire way to lose coverage if they ever did see that.

Why get an attorney needing a $2500 retainer for a $1000 repair (According to his est)

Punchy
I can believe that many cars can do 45-0 in 1.5 car lengths, if you measure in railroad car lengths.

BWAHahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!

*wipes tears from eyes*

I was thinking as I read his post... This is why they invented drag racing... Talk is meaningless, hammer down and prove it in an equal arena... Game over for 800lbs. internet ego!

Not to mention that I have yet to see a store bought tire that can handle the grip needed to make that even possible. Let's forget what the suspension would have to be built to handle, and still be drive-able for daily driving!

The $1000 repair est was for the vehicle he rear ended. The damage on his car i bet will be over $4,000 with his uncle help. It shouldn't cost $2500 to ask a lawyer advice on if he think Rush has a chance to win.
