I will just hijack my own post and toss the completed picture here in the front of the post.
Here is the fruits of well over a months worth of work:

This is just one of four for a complete 4 way SLI system.  There will be more more and better pictures taken, but at least you can see what is probably the worlds largest GPU waterblock.  It tips the scales at somewhere around 6 lbs which is more then enough mass to turn it into an LN2 pot.

*update* 20 March
CAD design of the block:

Pay the colors no mind, this will be a SOLID block of copper.

Perhaps you would like to subscribe to follow along and watch the progress?

Some specs on the block:
It will start off life as a 10lbs block of copper...
It has 26.38 square inches of surface area on the bottom of the datum plane of the water channel
That calculates to roughly 13.19 cubic inches of liquid in that chamber, or roughly 0.2 liters of water (for the metric folks) or about 0.8 cups of water!  Almost a full cup of liquid in there.

Its coming...

UPDATE: 5 April:
quick prototype:

UPDATE: 10 April

UPDATE: 30 APRIL
PROTOTYPE COMPLETED!!

All sealed up:

Like?
Still have the holes to drill and thread at the top of the block.

Holes done:

UPDATE 8 MAY:
First of 4 monster copper blocks:

Update June 28:

Almost 30 lbs of motherboard crushing copper.

That is going to be the deal breaker then. Needs to be compatible with it.

I would need to see a picture of the card, as long as the hole spacing is similar, or close enough where I can modify easy enough.

There will always be something better out there.  As it stands the 580 is still being sold right?  The nice thing about making blocks like these is I can make them whenever.

Lets say you want to make a waterblock for an older card.  It won't take me much of any trouble to gear up the machine and make a new one at any time in the future when no one else makes them....

*Cough cough* This thread is going off-topic. Please don't come here talking about 680's.

This is for Nate's 580 block. If you don't care about it, or don't need one, then don't post.

If you wanna talk about the speculated 680, then that's why we have a news section.

Eh, no worries.  If the 680 has the same circuit board then its cake to adapt it.

Then he can make me a 2nd block and I can buy that =p

Just wondering, do the waterblocks  hurt the motherboard by the weight? I've never done a graphics card under water and I was always wondering if the weight of the card / copper or whatever would bend the mobo.

This particular installation will be taking that into consideration. A dense foam will be under the motherboard to prevent too much sagging. The card wont bend, it will have PLENTY of renforcement from the block. As long as the foam under the motherboard is similar to the standoff height there wont be an issue. The board will be horizontal, but i could design something for a vertical installation.
