Well I got my hands on a X58 board and CPU and here's what I got. Realtemp does not seem to show speed that has been adjusted with eleet. Booted with 222 Bclock then upped it to 224 Should say 4.694Ghz I will run again.

I was trying to hit 4.6Ghz stable but I don't know whether or not the chip just wouldn't do it or I wasn't giving it enough vcore.. Either way, 4.5Ghz for 24/7 operation is enough for me :)

I remember seeing his name in a x79 thread. Since he switched to the X79 chipset he hasn't kept up with the good ole X58 thread.

Well, to make a long story short... Originally years ago I bought a Asus x58 i7 motherboard on i7 launch day in 2008, used it for years, recently sold it and bought an ivy bridge system. I was very unhappy and traded locally for someone with an x58 system to go back to x58 i7 fun times. What I ended up with was a EVGA X58 CLASSIFIED 3-WAY SLI system, model E760, and came with a Bloomfield i7-950 D0, and a set of Mushkin DDR3-1066 Blackline Ridgeback ram. It also came already with some Cooler Master stand-up heatpipe cooler thing that supports 2 x 120mm fans, and I was given a free Antec 1200 chassis with the trade. First day spent nearly 8-9 hours assembling everything, taking all my parts from my ivy bridge (and original i7) out of my Antec 300 chassis and migrating them to the new (much larger) Antec 1200. Second day was general usage at stock.. third day I started overclocking, yesterday was day #4, and so far I have it stable @ 4.168ghz, and this Mushkin ram has really shocked me and running solidly stable at 2086mhz with 11-11-11-1T @ 1.905v. My point of posting here is I read the first post in this thread and see several people with Bloomfield processors running at 1.4## volts and load temps in the mid-90's C (I'm assuming those are C?). I'm currently at 1.38v and my load temps are at 84C - 85C, so while I do want to overclock to 4.2+, I also do intend to use this as a daily gamer machine for at least the next couple years so.... long-term, is 1.4## volts and mid-90's C going to fry my i7 in less than 5 years? I'm only hoping to get about 5 years out of it, x79 parts should be cheap by then. Has anyone here used a Bloomfield D0 @ 4.2ghz or more, 1.4v or more, and mid-90's C load temps daily for more than 2 years to say it won't kill it?

Of course all chips react differently, but in my opinion, if you back down on your ram speed some, you may not need Vcore voltage that high to achieve a 4.2 OC. That will then reduce your temps quite a bit. If you look at my 4.3 OC submission, you'll see I have a 950 DO chip and didn't need even close to 1.4v. But again, some will need more voltage then others. I personally would never run my rig with Vcore over 1.375v (Vdroop off) and/ or, core temps over 75C for more than a short benchmark or LinX stability run. But that's just my view. PS. Welcome to the EVGA forums...

Welcome to the EVGA forums... I've been fiddling with mine and no matter what I do it just will not run stable with BCLK above 174. I tried vcore around 1.47v, I tried ram speed down at 1200mhz, I tried VTT voltage up, I tried all the other voltages in bios... nothing, so seems on this chip I'm pretty much restricted to 174mhz BCLK (and with this processor that means 4165mhz cpu speed). So... may as well just leave it there and forget about 4200, sadly, and enjoy 2084mhz ram with it. Very good performance/speed anyway.

1.905v for ram?????? from what i have read you should NEVER go over 1.65v for ram (of course toloerance to say 1.66 i woudl say is ok but 1.9v + )
