I have an issue with my video card where the second head defaults to a very low resolution very much like safe mode.  See attached screen shot.  If I right click the desktop and select "screen resolution" the resolution for both monitors is 1920 x 1080.  Clicking on "Detect" always corrects the issue.   Occasionally the second monitor will revert back to the low resolution after some undetermined time period.
My video card is :
EVGA GeForce GTX570 HD 2560MB GDDR5 SLI Ready Graphics Card (025-P3-1579-AR)
Both monitors are ASUS VS247  24"
This computer is only used for post production video editing with Adobe suite.  Windows 7 Pro 64, i7  with 32 GB Ram
I keep the driver up to date.
This is very annoying.   Does anyone know what is going on?
Thanks.
Bubba

Did you experience this with older drivers?

Yes, it has done this since I installed the card.

Have you tried doing a clean installation of video drivers? Like so...

HOW TO: Perform a clean installation of video drivers.
    1. Download & save 332.21 driver to your desktop. (Latest recommended driver is 332.21)
    2. Double click on 332.21-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql.exe located on your desktop & run the extractor.
    3. Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options but graphics driver & physx system software, if you are using audio over HDMI please select the HD Audio driver, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point select the 3D Vision driver also, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.

Have you tried using different monitor cables?

I followed your steps.  It rebooted and the display is fine.  That happens some times on a reboot.  I'll watch it for a few days and see what happens.  Thanks for your help.

Well, that didn't work.  The computer was running and all of a sudden the second monitor reverted back to low res.

Does the low resolution stay on the second monitor when swapping ports & cables with the first monitor?

I swapped the cables on the video card and the low resolution swapped monitors.

Ok so you swapped cables right? Did the low res go to the new port or stay on the same? Like Sajin said it is probably the cable

Let be sure what I said is what you understood.  I unplugged both cables from the video card.  I crossed them and plugged them back in.  I did not replace any cables.  So in other words I unplugged the cable from port 1 and plugged it into port 2 and like wise unplugged the cable from port 2 and plugged it into port 1.  The low resolution went from monitor two to monitor one.  That says to me it is the video port/card.  Is this covered under the warranty?

Ok please take one end of cable and pass it to other monitor but do not change ports and try it out
