I just changed my bios, if I have the good number in gpu z after restart its all good ?

I had closed all applications, doesnt matter if afterburner put my own curve fan at the restart ?

And also, 60% fan its the same rpm with the new bios than the old one ?

chizowI could have returned my 1070 SC to Best Buy or Advanced RMA'd it for a new unit, but I'll go ahead and do the thermal pad and BIOS mod myself to help them cut their losses.

Lol. First, you buy a product from Best Buy. Why, to make sure one of the worst retailers in terms of pricing doesn't lose business? And now you are willing to fix the mistake of a manufacturer by performing a mod and flashing BIOS yourself so "they can cut their losses"???

Amazing.

No genius, the point was to help EVGA cut their losses by performing the updates myself instead of RMA'ing to them for a new card and having them pay shipping 2 ways and eating a loss on an Open Box/RMA card.  As  for buying from Best Buy, their price was similar, or better than competing retailers at $418 and I get 6% cash back along with 45 days no questions asked return policy and I used $170 worth of rewards to make it a $250 purchase.  Keep paying full price at Amazon and Newegg though and think you're getting a good deal! LOL.

What idiots use Amazon or Newegg?

Hello, new to the forum.

I've had an issue with updating my 1070 ftw acx 3.0's BIOS. I downloaded only the primary BIOS for I do not use the secondary. When I run the Update.exe, it opens a prompt, but for only within seconds. It does not give me the option to press "Y" and when it finished I restarted my PC anyway. When I run GPU-Z, it shows it did not update and shows I not have a "Subvendor" which I've read could be a problem. I ordered the thermal pads to be safe. My PC runs pretty cool thanks to my case's design and 6 case fans. Should I be fine without the update until the pads arrive?

Do you have an AMD motherboard? If so, have you read the note regarding AMD motherboards in the first post?

Usually the lack of subvendor ID is a result of an AMD motherboard compatibility issue.

Q. I have an AMD chipset motherboard, and the flash is not completing. What do I do?
A. Please contact support@evga.com, this will require a special update.

Sorry about that. Found the forum through google and didn't see the first post, yes it is an AMD motherboard. I think I saw a Reddit post about the gtx 1060 and something to do with Subvendor.

DSP1
I think he probably meant the customs workers and I misunderstood.
That would significantly delay any airfreight into the country being delivered.

Indeed DSP1,

Brazilian Customs Auditors are at Strike here (allowing only live cargo to go through).
Not only that, but all imports, and exports are freezed because of this.

Not to say, that our Postal Offices are pretty ****ty when talking about transportation time from Customs to the costumer residence (sometimes customs release the cargo, and  takes around 2 weeks for then to deliver it).

So for now, we just need to wait, e use the BIOS update as fix.

The guys who came up with the thermal pads, please tell me what they thick? What you need to buy? 0.5 mm , 1mm , 1.5 mm or 2mm

Been waiting for thermal pads for a month now. I don't care if they still have to build the EU warehouse or whatever. 450eur for a card which is now a month old (yea i got it the same day as the "thermal problem" was published) and nothing. How many months do i have to wait for my thermal pads?

So some 3rd party testing is showing its not a thermal issue but faulty capacitors that are failing causing the issues with the vrm.

Maybe that will help.  Spot how many of them are EVGA.

Oh yeah, not many.  Capacitors fail on motherboards, on GPU's, in calculators, in refrigerators, in cars, in air conditioners.  Nothing to do with heat or any other rumor on the internet, they just do.  It happens.  This whole thing was blown out of proportion.

Yeah, for sure! I stayed away since I had to work the whole Black Friday poop-storm. Constant ignorance and fear-mongering=Crap being flung around everywhere like in the monkey cage at the Honolulu Zoo......  except they aim for the eyes and if they do it, it's completely legal.....
