new0ne 1)EVGA is doing something - right? So what do u expect? Someone that comes to your home, bring a cake and brand new card with installed pads, better cooler and and and? They give you the solutions, we have already video on youtube, we have pictures and the warranty is not lost if you break something. 2)So please tell me now: How much better could they do now? You need 30 minutes time (if you are not an expert and take care) to do all this? Remove card, follow video, drink a coffee, wait for the pad and bios update and everything is fine? 3)And you have warranty - so WHAT? I REALLY cant understand what you all have to complain about. I dont understand your problem now. And please - they wont turn your fan with +50% and I am sure this new fan-curve will be 1-2 db louder. And? 4)Please tell me what you get from other? Like your washmachine, car, TV, notebook, bike, receiver, router, gaming console... how do u think will they all save the issue? My friend are you work for EVG? They do the oversight and now they must listen complains! None of the aboves you said tell me something, if you are from EVGA product manager, engineer etc. then come with the sector you are dealing and listens the complains. Scarlet-Tech The micron bios fix should be addressed with the new Bios as well. The new Bios would not revert the memory back.
Also, it would be good to see if it corrects your issues while we wait for the new Bios options, so that you can see if something is wrong. If so, then you can RMA and have everything fixed at once.
I will be flashing the bios, installing the new thermal pads, and all of that. I am not doing it specifically because I think there is an issue, but if I sell the card, I don't want to have to tell someone else to do it if they want it done.
For the advanced RMA, make sure your card is registered and the advanced rma option is purchased, and it will save you lots of time.
So you told to someone as a advice the above in boldHow the ..... Evga sold us these cards?Something else, I hope the support team have in their minds that there are cards with SAMSUNG vram and don't mess up with bios and wait again for the correct bios.

Card with the "fix" are not in store, certainly not in production yet. The 1080 Classified part number 08G-P4-6386 is also on the list.

I have been running my 1080 FTW for months without any issues. Just play your games and if it dies you are still under the 3 year warranty. If you are worried set your fan to aggressive preset in precision.

wils07 Why does the thermal pad guide not mention the use of a antistatic matting to prevent damage from ESD shock?
Why should it? If you don't know what you are doing then just send it back.

Maybe because it's the electronic handling 101, first on the list. Static discharges is always a hazard.

I'd like someone to confirm, but everything i read states: if you don't purchase advanced RMA within 30 days of registration the option is unavailable forever Seems crazy it's an optional upgrade, almost like it's assumed it will happen!
Why does it seems crazy? You are notified when you register the card, you have an option to add additional warranty. It's similar to pretty much every other warranty out there. Why do people struggle so much?

Reading all these posts makes me sick. I have purchased EVGA products since 2009, issues can arise and I have never once had a bad experience with their support. Give them a chance and be patient, if your card dies before then then RMA. Why is this so difficult to understand? I am guess most of the people here have never bought a new car before, this happens, warranty covers it. Just relax already.

Not everyone knows it, and EVGA should assume that and specify it, this is basic common sens for a company, since they are asking total strangers to open the cards, some are under age, some are blinds, some have no hands...should i continue?. I'm not trying to turn anything, the Part number you posted is on the list, isn't it? your sentence make it pass as an exception model, the capture shows it's not. Btw no worries, as soon as my card get a PROPER handling, i'll get out of there.

*Reposting* I just wanted to add my experience for the record and for whomever it may help ease their minds. I have an EVGA GTX 1070 SC which I've used since 9/27. According to the serial number the card was shipped 6/21. I've ran this card with +100 on the core, +500 on the memory, and 112% on the power limit at a constant 80-85°C (when gaming) for the past month or so. I live in a hot humid place and I have a small cramped case which explains my horrid temps. Also I'm the second owner of the card, as I bought it off of someone else who probably used it as much as myself. ALSO, I ran my CPU stupidly hot for some time as I let the voltage on Auto when I OCed and temps were craaaazy inside my case for like 2 weeks until I finally undervolted the CPU. As of today (knocks on wood) I have had zero black screens, zero graphics driver crashes, zero throttling, and of course no catastrophic failures. Nevertheless, as of today, I have returned my GPU OC settings to default and I've ordered the thermal pad kit just to be safe.

EVGA is working on the bios. I would expect evga to make a micron bios and a Samsung bios separate. When I say "if I sell the card" I am talking about after I finish using my card. My card stays extremely cool on the back, the vrm, and the core. It has abolsutely no issues because I use the secondary bios that runs the fan at 50% automatically from the factory, which provides plenty of airflow to properly cool the card and vrm.

What you may not know is high temps wear your components, meaning the life time of your product, it'll not always fail as a critical/catastrophic failures. The GPU chips have some fail safe if the temps are too high cutting/throttling, VRM and VRAM have none on this cards (For the ram you'll get artifacts at first, then they'll die or de-solder, usually the VRM will pop in flames and burn the PCB or worst)

EVGA may make the 100% mark a little bit higher. Some of my old cards had fans rated to 4400 rpm, but the fan was set to max at 3500. They may make the fan run a little higher. Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see to get an official answer.

Sorry but that really sound like to me, you tried to justified the answer of the support saying that his product was not affected. But ok if it wasn't your intention, i stand corrected for this one. At the end of the day the support did wrong, since his 1070 sc IS on the list (most of them are).

Knowing the thickness of the thermal tape EVGA is planning to ship would be awesome. Some of us wouldn't sourcing the materials ourselves as we understand it may take EVGA a long time to ship them.

dyceskynes Which means you should know that all ready. Should they tell you how to use a screwdriver too?
Not everyone knows it, and EVGA should assume that and specify it, this is basic common sens for a company, since they are asking total strangers to open the cards, some are under age, some are blinds, some have no hands...should i continue?.
The Thermal pads are not a required fix, they can do the bios or just return the card. They are not asking anyone to open the cards, people can request the parts if they are comfortable with it. If they are not comfortable, as you are not or not able, then don't request it.

fotingo Knowing the thickness of the thermal tape EVGA is planning to ship would be awesome. Some of us wouldn't sourcing the materials ourselves as we understand it may take EVGA a long time to ship them.
The kit includes: - "Narrow" thermal pad for inductors: ~1.8mm x ~27mm x ~109mm
- "Wide" thermal pad for rear-side of PCB: ~2mm x ~56mm x ~109mm
- Thermal compound. Ours was 5W/mK, but the kits will vary based on supply.

+1 I wrote this before and it's not difficult from EVGA to told us exactly the thickness of thermal pads!- As I read a previous post (don't remember the page) about the thickness from a mod of forum told is 1mm. - On gamernexus.net write that the kit include:
- "Narrow" thermal pad for inductors: ~1.8mm x ~27mm x ~109mm
- "Wide" thermal pad for rear-side of PCB: ~2mm x ~56mm x ~109mm
- Thermal compound. Ours was 5W/mK, but the kits will vary based on supply.
το another point of the page write: -That kit is provided free to affected EVGA customers, but you could also buy your own thermal pads (~$7) of comparable size if EVGA cannot fulfill a request. When open the link the pads thinkness is 1.5mm So do we know the exactly thickness of the pads, is 1mm or 1.5mm or 2mm?

I don't think you can readily purchase 1.8mm thermal pads so it's most likely 1.5mm for the inductors/chokes and 2mm for the backplate.
