seaberttheseal Hello All- I received my card on Wednesday this week. Just a note to everyone so you don't experience the pain that I did. This card requires 3 separate PCI connectors to your power supply - as you probably know (not cable 1 that splits to 2 + one, but 3 separate cables). I thought I had everything, the problem was the spare cable from another power supply was different. You need to check the 8 pins to ensure that they will fit your power supply - I have a Corsair and I brought another home from work and it happened to not fit - so double check this before you get your card!
Are you sure? I've heard that daisychaining + 1 standalone works from several sources. Is that not the case?
same i heard that daisychaining was perfectly fine

Ya, daisychaining is fine as long as you have two cables. That being said, OP was lucky that the other PCI-E cable didn’t fit the power supply. It’s definitely not a good idea to mix power supply cables, even if they’re from the same brand (given their different models). I’ve seen many stories of people frying their systems this way

lol when I was building my first gaming PC, I had the wrong wire for a power supply and I connected my power supply to my mechanical hard drive, few moments later smoke was coming out of the hard drive, thats when I learned that there are different wires for different models even if they are from the same company, a stupid rookie mistake.

R.Wolfcastle UPS ground shipping double boxed and insured for $800 from PA to CA cost $93. I was looking to do 2 day but it was around $190. I'm a patient man so...guess I'll be waiting on ground shipping.
How?? I shipped out of PA as well, was told by the UPS rep that in order to insure my package, I had to go 2 day shipping, which would've been around what you said, $190. I was told I couldn't add additional insurance on a ground shipment! I also double boxed, and went for a fragile shipment which was an extra bit of money, so all together without insurance I paid $70. Really hoping it makes it there fine and I didn't just throw $800 out the window... Kind of regretting not just doing the $190 but at the same time that's a lot of dough...

Received email with tracking notification for my step up card. Scheduled to get here Monday. Bit bummed because I paid for next day shipping, and it just happened to be shipped on a Friday. Excited though!

Seeing some crazy prices for UPS and FedEx. I overnighted from NY for $70 (USPS). Shipped it yesterday, they received it today and they shipped out out in the afternoon. Unfortunately, when I signed up the site was so buggy I was only able to get though with ground shipping. I’ll still be waiting a bit.

I was told by UPS I had to do ground. I am only 6-7 hrs north of Brea, so ground shipping plus $800 insurance was only $33 for me. They told me Monday either way.

My PSU has 3 6+2 pin connectors. Kind of new to this, so I just want to make sure that those are good to use. No daisy chains. But 6+2 are the 8 pin connectors we want to use, right?
I also order some custom sleeves from ensourced. I had to list my PSU model, so assuming everything should be good. Is that a bad risk to take?

So Jacob on Twitter replied to a post asking about step up stuff, and like normal we are supposed to get a shipment this upcoming week. But according to one of the replies he made, this next shipment is supposed to be bigger than the one from this week. So here's to hoping we move even farther along!

Y’all think if I queue up for the 3080 I’ll be looking at an eta of maybe January or February? I’m queued up for a 3070 right now but if I’m gonna be waiting more than a month for a 3070 might as well queue up for a 3080. Thinking of the 3080 as an investment that will last me longer than the 3070 since it’s on par with a two year old 2080ti.

I also agree. It may be sooner, but that all depends on how many more come in stock each week. Considering we just made it past the first hour of step ups this week, it could be a considerable amount of time

If I were you, I would get in the notify queue for both. If you get a chance to purchase a 3070, do it, then you can use the step up from that card to the 3080. You get to use the 3070 while you wait for your spot to come open for the 3080 step up.

I figure that most people signed up almost immediately. Sure we only got through an hour, but that's when a bulk of the signups were happening. I imagine after the first day is done, they'll start to move quickly relative to what it's been so far.

I only signed up on 9/29, had to wait for my evga 2080 super ftw3 to arrive, which I am using BTW. Great card. I am under no illusions I will get my step up before April. However, I am likely going to see a notify for a 3090 FTW3 before then and see a chance at a 6900 XT sometime in December. Even if I get one of those, I have parts for a second rig accumulating so I really could use a decent GPU like a 3080 FTW3 in that second rig. Considering how difficult parts are becoming to obtain... especially GPUs.. the step up program will pay off.. just not anytime soon.

I definitely think it is moving faster than people think it is. Assuming the people who registered their time in this thread roughly represents the general public, there were 205 orders before I registered on September 24th. 60/205 orders have been processed in about 6 weeks. Even if the pace didn't pick up, that would put me getting a card about 12 weeks but I expect it to pick up drastically.

I apologize if this is a dumb question... but my carrier says my package was delivered this morning but it still shows "Pending" on EVGA's my product details. I am assuming this is normal and it is just waiting to be processed but can anyone shed some light on if that is indeed normal? I just want to make sure it wasn't delivered to the wrong location somehow. Edit. Just changed to received right after I posted this... thank you!

Not sure, I have the receipt and it has the insurance for $800. That's odd, not sure what I would have done if they couldn't insure it, I wasn't about to shell out just under $200 to ship my card. In other news, I built a new rig in September and turns out my PSU EVGA SuperNova 850 GA has nothing but issues with 3000 series cards. So I just got done talking to Microcenter and they are willing to let me exchange it for another PSU. I love Microcenter!

EVGA probably focused on all the retail cards today since all 3 versions were pushed out. Step-Ups will probably be tomorrow or Wednesday.
