I snagged a 3090FE from Scan the other day so I'm not as antsy about when my place arrives now.

Got my step 2 today as well, but as I am in the UK I have no idea what to expect costs wise.

If you do not mind posting the costs for taxes it would be interesting to know.

Also still awaiting approval. Looked back in this topic and for some people the step from 2 —> 3 took 1 month.. so the long wait is not over yet!

Has Germany not entered another lockdown, this could severely influence wait times again.

Nah, we’re still allowed to work and groceries stores are opened as well.
So even if the step-up is still processed at the europe-hq in Munich, the „lockdown“ shouldn’t slow down the process.
Even the logistic companies are still working normal or even have to deal with more deliveries since people tend to order more stuff online.
Nevertheless I’m still hoping for some more movement, as I got my step 1 mail at 19/09/2020 22:06 (DE)

I registered on the 19th September at 21:26 and have heard diddly squat and still sat at Pending with regards to queue position.

Wondering how the tax is even gonna work? This is essentially an RMA, not like we're buying a new card from scratch.

Well, for those of us swapping something that is of the same monetary value if not higher. My RMA covers the cost of a 3080, so I only expect to be paying shipping.

So in my head tax would work on shipping cost plus whatever additional cost you might have to "pay up" the cost of a 3080 if you entered step-up with a graphics card worth less.

If everyone is getting hit with the same import tax on the RRP of a 3080 as if buying it new, that will be pretty shoddy. Cause that will likely be a few hundred £.

I hope EVGA UK has properly prepared for this and that might explain the queue grinding to a halt for them to do so. It'll be a bit of a scandal if everyone just gets treated as if they're outright buying an £800+ card from the EVGA store as new.

On Amazon I had to return some watercooling parts I didn't need to use and for whatever reason while they were ordered from Amazon UK the returns label wanted to go to an Amazon warehouse in Slovakia. The parcel has now been stuck in an UPS warehouse in Slovakia waiting customs clearance from the Amazon warehouse for like 4 weeks. Thankfully Amazon CS just advance refunded the £50 and apologised. I wouldn't be surprised if the package ends up being returned to me in like 2 months or something. Thanks Brexit.

I've seen some posts from people wanting to even step up from a "lower end" EVGA 3080 to the 3080 FTW3. Can't imagine them being too happy if they get hit with an import tax bill for hundreds of £ just for trying to step up to a better OC'd card/custom PCB.

This is exactly what will happen. The RMA form is full of people getting stung for import duties and taxes on a replacement card. Full retail price declared for customs on the packaging.

Also be very careful sending your card to Germany from the UK, if it attracts any customs EVGA will refuse delivery. The RMA forum is full of complaints about this also, and no-one seems to know how to get around it.

Thankfully I live in Northern Ireland and was able to change my address to my sisters who lives in Southern Ireland fro the step up, whenever that may happen. At the current rate we'll all probably be back in the EU before evga get their finger out.

Ooft, what a mess. Thankfully my position in the queue was entered in like November, so I cross my fingers everyone getting bodied first causes EVGA to fix this before my time is here.

There should not be a declaration of full value if someone is doing an RMA that covers the cost of the card or a portion of the cost. We've already paid our tax on the initial purchase of whatever card we bought for new. We aren't purchasing ANOTHER card to have two cards. This is essentially a swap, with the potential for SOME financial follow up to cover a step up.

Tax being paid on that financial gap if it exists, fine, understandable. Tax being paid on money we haven't even spent is a scandal.

Not so great for me as I am not far away from the top of the list.

Surely, EVGA would just need to have us affix some sort of barcode/label we can put on our parcel to get this passed quickly through customs.

It's not like having to deal with a border is a new thing and blaming it on 'Brexit' is just an excuse, we all receive goods from all over the world without any of the crap we are seeing on the forums.

"It's not like having to deal with a border is a new thing and blaming it on 'Brexit' is just an excuse, we all receive goods from all over the world without any of the crap we are seeing on the forums."
- this is simply not true.
I live in Ireland and use to order from Scan, AWD, Overclockers etc - NONE of those companies are currently shipping outside of the UK due to the fiasco of duties caused by Brexit. So its working both ways in and out of the UK and Europe at the moment.
It seems to me that companies just don't know how to deal with the situation that has arisen.
Nearly 4 months on and this is what Scan.co.uk are stating --
Non UK shipments
We are still working with couriers to complete our integration for NON UK shipping services. Unfortunately, this is taking longer than originally expected but we are hopeful that we can resume shipments in the coming weeks and will provide further updates as progress is made. We thank you for your continued patience.

So its not just EVGA...

Yeah it's definitely not just EVGA. I posted above about how Amazon UK have even bungled up a return for me and that was with prepaid UPS labels, a declaration form and a thundering value of... £50.

EVGA would be better off partnering with a UK retailer for their step up program for logistical purposes to avoid any customs issues.
