I don't have the best cpu and ram either or 16x16. I am guessing 5960x is > 6700k right?

For gaming the 6700k has a slight advantage in single threaded apps.

I was thinking in getting two TitanXp, but I would have problems with the thermals, stock cooler is ridiculous for that card at all... so keep going on the 1080GTX and wait for Volta in 2017:

Here's mine. Heaven on Ultra quality, including 8xAA, at 1440p resolution. I don't normally run this resolution on my 4K monitor, but I was curious how mine would compare to you guys' 1080 and Titan XP SLI setups and modern cpus. I'd say my 6-year old X58 Xeon system did pretty well for itself, beating out wirerogue's i7 6700 system. In fairness, though his score and average, and max framerates were lower, his min fps was significantly better than me. Oops, he had tesselation on, I didn't. Gonna have to retest, dangit!

Ok, I reran it with tesselation set to Extreme, and I still barely squeaked past wirerogue.

Oh burn! You may have me for good on this, because I'm not sure if I'll be able to improve much on the OCs on the cpu and gpu that I already had running my previous score. I'll try though, but you probably have me.

Nice, I see your OC is at 2075....I had my FE's at 2075 for the score in the OP, but unfortunately since going SLI, I have had to back it down to 2050 to get it to run the 3DMARK stuff.

I was thinking in getting two TitanXp, but I would have problems with the thermals, stock cooler is ridiculous for that card at all... so keep going on the 1080GTX and wait for Volta in 2017:

Nice one! What are your cards clocked at?

Dude, I played around quite a bit this evening and haven't actually quite matched my previous high, must less squeak out a few more points to beat you. I'm not sure why, since I think I'm seeing higher gpu clock and at least as high of memory clock. It's got to be something subtle, like not having closed down an application running in the background. I also crashed my machine several times trying to push my gpu a little harder.

I think it's interesting how close our scores are. I've got my EK-water-cooled 1080 running faster than your 1080, but you've got a modern cpu and my Xeon (a Westmere generation cpu running on an X58 mobo) is over 6 years old. I doubt I can push my cpu much more than it's already going, so the question is whether I can push the gpu just that little bit more. I've criticized people who did this in the past, but I can see the entertainment value. At this point I just want to see if I can do it. I'll have to master the Precision X OC interface and learn how to tweak the voltages and whatnot. With water cooling, my cpu temps during this benchmark are about 49 and sometimes 50 C, so I've got all the temperature headroom I need. I'm still under the power limit, at current settings seeing usually 107-116% of the power target. On my last run I had the gpu running 2152 Mhz most of the time, sometimes dropping to 2139 Mhz, and the memory clock was at 5481 MHz. My gpu at 2152 Mhz was using 1.081V most of the time, sometimes dropping to 1.075 V for some reason. I had nudged up the voltage slider in the main screen a little.

I really hate the Precision X OC interface. It's like they're trying to turn it into a game widget rather than a real computer program. Especially on the slider where you're supposed to be able to set a voltage for each clock speed bump, it really, really sucks. They should allow a full-screen program with real granularity and the ability to type these things in manually rather than trying to guess clicking at a very coarse-grained graph.

I'll try again later tonight, if only in the name of science, as this is teaching me more about gpu overclocking and the factors involved.

    Thanks.

Both are clocked at 2025MHz Core / 11GHz Memory (5508MHzx2), max temp at this bench was 68ºC on the top card, fans at 100%.

Afterburner at +185 Core / +500 Mem (FE cards).

    Cheers
