Thanks for taking time to answer !
As I was out for work... I didn' had time to test but as soon as possible I will test all your suggestions.

My KB is the K60.
I DL the rigth mouse driver.

On the other hand, don't you think that the big jump in FPS like between 170 & 70 could make me feel that my screen skip frame or something like that ?
Because on 60 hz with such high FPS is kind of useless and can spoil the uniformity of the screen?
That's probably why by caping FPS it felt smooth to me

By the way, BF3 on my display is @59.94 hz on windows 8 (W7 was 60hz..weird), nevermind it must be rounded up.
But for now I can play wit no vsync and high setting (no OA and MSAA) with few tearing and without the skipping frame feeling.
As soon as I put setting to ultra and no vsync it's not smooth at all and I can play on ULTRA and VSYNC with no problem.

I think all my drivers are up to date, I did a windows 8 clean install butt I shoul probably roll back to seven.

I seem to have a stable overclock at 850mhz for my 580's, but now the gpu usage won't stay at 90+ while playing bf3. Any idea what's wrong?

CPU overhead, dont worry about it at at all...
GPU usage numbers are meaningless. Whats important is -real- in game performance (as tested) and not gpu use percentages.

In that case, there doesn't seem to be an increase in performance increasing the mhz from 772 to 850. I checked my frame rate with fraps, and looking at the densest areas in the 64 players maps, my frame rate goes down into the 50's, sometimes even in the 40's.

Yes, I run my GTX 580's at STOCK
There is no real performance gain to be had with my config and BF3 by overclocking my videocard.
So I dont

Now with other games, its sometimes totally different and any overclocks really pay off...
But for me and my config, its worthless with BF3

It can, as the ratio is expanded the FOV increases and thus more to render.

Hey maniacv, really trying find some concrete information on what the following commands do in PROF_SAVE_profile:-
GstAudio.AudioQuality 4
GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 20

AudioQuality have tried 0,1,2,3,4 and they all sound excatly the same
Soundsystemsize have tried from 0 to 100 in increments of 5 and also 20, 51 and 71 and again they all sound the same. Yep I did tottaly shutdown BF3 + Origin whilst changing settings and resyced local data to the cloud when asked. My Xonar panel lokos like this:-

Im using a pair of quality stereo headphones and im getting positional data ingame through them, thats where GstAudio.SoundSystemSize confuses me as even when its value is 0 or 100 or removed completely from the profile file it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference!

Do NOT make adjustments in the config file
Choose HEADPHONES in the in-game sound panel and use "enhanced" stereo mode, and your DONE in the in game panel.

I am not familiar with the Xonar settings panel...
*as I use a X-Fi set to Headphones and CMSS enabled over a 3.5mm jack. Works perfectly

What headphones are you using and do they connect with a 3.5mm jack or are they USB?
Standard headphones use 2.0 stereo

With respect, I really don't want to get into a discussion about headphones (but they are 3.5mm jack straight into soundcard) as thats not what im asking, also telling me not to make changes in config files when its the first thing one does in just about any PC game (custom cfg's) is not helpful either sorry, and kind of implying that I don't know what i'm doing. I just want detailed info on what the CVAR's do, nothing else, if you don't know thats fine.

Re:Ultimate Battlefield 3 Guide 2013/05/17 09:16:22 (permalink)
With respect, headphones are 2.0 devices so thats the setting to use in the in-game panel.

As I stated "Choose HEADPHONES in the in-game sound panel and use "enhanced" stereo mode, and your DONE in the in game panel." (this will set the -correct- values in the config file)
There is no other value to use in the BF3 game engine for a connected 2.0 stereo headphone device. There are only (8) values that can be set -period- , by incorrectly setting meaningless values into the config file the sound engine will default...
This is the problem you are reporting
You use the in-game settings panel, NOT the config file.

It your sound cards panel where you would make changes to enhance positional audio, NOT the in-game settings, as they are NOT supported there.

The BF engine is well over 10 years old and is NOT config file based as you appear to assume...
Frostbite does NOT take kindly to incorrect values like lower based engines and I suggest you stay out of the .cfg file is you want best performance... it aint the Unreal or Source engine my friend

Since you appear to "need" the correct settings for best headphone performance in game (they are posted below)
*you use your sound cards audio settings panel to enhance the soundstage for positional audio, it cannot be done in the engine.

GstAudio.AudioQuality 1
GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 20
GstAudio.StereoMode 1
GstAudio.Volume 1.000000
GstAudio.YourSoundSystem 4

The above posted values are for a high end sound card and high quality headphones

May i  mention some of these values being toyed with can and sometimes trigger anti cheat cvar checks that may result in a ban or kick depending on the severity of the violation.Having used the sonar and creative software with bf3 he is correct, you only need or should change sound with the provided sound card software and set to headphones so your card is doing the work and its being sent to your ears as you want it .
TBH i found war tapes to be my favorite .(but im weird anyways so :) )

this error ive seen alot of with the last 3 drivers, its very random when it happens also.I at this time would write this off as a drive issue and maybe roll back to a pre 320 driver WHQL .I had the same error today after playing 2 hours with not a hitch.

Re:Ultimate Battlefield 3 Guide 2013/05/30 15:53:34 (permalink)
314.22 or 314.07 would be the ones to try
*remember to use ONLY -Custom- Mode for the install
-->ALL Nvidia components unchecked except for Graphics Driver and PhysX.
Be -sure- to put a check box in "Perform a Clean Install"

Note: this error can be caused by "other" issues, and also be caused by Precision/RTSS.
If you have Precision installed, please shut it DOWN completely and UNINSTALL it.
*during the uninstall a box will pop up asking to save Profiles and data.
you -must- answer -NO- to this question
After the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer once (do NOT skip this reboot)

You should now check for the "latest" version of Precision (currently 4.0.2) and install it

Remember: BEFORE installing any Nvidia drivers -always- completely shutdown Precision and reboot once. Then -check- in the task manager that no "precison.exe" or "RTSS.exe" is showing in the Processes Tab.
*If either of those -are- showing, then your Precision install is -CORRUPTED-

-->but having it on another drive is -NOT- the cause of the problem you are having.

The EVGA Customer Service Team replied the following:
Best RegardsAnswered By Florian M (05/31/2013 4:50:58 AM): Hello Joaquim,
This is usually sufficient before installing your new drivers. If you run into problems or conflicts you may want to go a step further and wipe out any and all old or leftover driver files associated with your graphics card(s). To do this follow the instructions, step by step, below:
1. Download the PREVIOUS drivers to your desktop (http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/), along with your driver removal program such as driver fusion or CCleaner.
2. Reboot your computer into safe mode, by pressing F8 on initial boot, select Safe Mode from the menu. Once Safe Mode is loaded remove the drivers using the same procedure outlined above. If it asks you to reboot the computer after removing the drivers say yes and reboot back into Safe Mode.
3. Now run your driver removal program, if prompted be sure to only select graphics drivers (ATI and Nvidia) but DO NOT check chipset, audio, lan, or any other drivers. After the program completes its processes reboot back into safe mode once again.
4. Now install the drivers downloaded from EVGA or Nvidia. Once it finishes installing reboot into windows normally .
Now you have a fresh and clean installation of the most current driver set.
Regards,
tonimakinen

Anyone can confirm if it'll conflict BF3 if you enabled FXAA via NV control panel instead of relying on FXAA files to help sharpen the graphics? I always follow your NV control panel recommendations and they always work great ever since. I wonder if there is a difference if i enabled FXAA via control panel?

As for tuning vibrance in monitor settings i could never get around that part. I seriously need a new monitor i hate the slight ghosting..

BF3 does -NOT- support that setting in the NVCP

Each game is different...
But most often in todays games the developer uses "custom" versions of AA modes or AO, like in BF3...
As such the NVCP setting will NOT work -or- enabling it might cause issues

This was a setting needed (at BF3 release) before the Nvidia driver was later patched with a proper game profile.
*It is no longer needed, as the Nvidia driver will now set that value to (2) automaticly when the settings is left at default of "use the 3D Application setting"

Hey Maniac,

I was hoping you would be willing to help me with an error message / crash I’ve recently been getting in BF3.  I believe someone has posted here before.  It forces me to CTRL ALT DEL and close via task manager.  I will try to list all of my config/options/etc. below.

Error message:  Direct X function “GetDeviceRemovedReason” failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: Device hung due to badly formed commands.. GPU: “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570”, Driver: 32018

Video Card:  EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX 570
Graphics Driver:  314.22 WHQL (I have tried the newer 320.18 too, no luck)
Memory:  G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Timing 9-9-9-24
Monitor:  ViewSonic VX2268WM 22-Inch running at 120HZ  1680x1050 resolution
Keyboard:  Logitech G15
Mouse:  Logitech G500
CPU:  Intel i5-2500k @ 3.3GHz (stock)
Mobo:  MSI P67A-GD65
HDD:  1 TB Western Digital
Mic: Logitech USB desktop microphone

Attached are my ingame video settings.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the EVGA forums

First off, shut down and and uninstall Precision (dont worry, you can put it back in later we just need to clear it"
*you MUST answer NO during the Precision uninstall when it asks to save profiles and data

Looking at your settings I have some suggestions to improve quality and gameplay...
Please try the -exact- settings posted below (for testing) starting with CUSTOM and dont skip any

*remember after making the above changes -save them- and then QUIT the game, close Battlelog, close Origin and then right click on the Origin Icon and EXIT....

This will properly sync your settings and allow the shaders to correctly rebuild the next time you launch the game

Clearing Precision settings (the OSD your using) and making the settings changes (for testing) should fix you right up
*-AFTER- testing, go ahead and reinstall Precision
