Even if you schedule a step up on day 89 of your 90 days and it takes them two months to fufill it, you'll still get it.

EDIT:

As for the price, it doesn't matter if they're selling them for 299 for some reason, all the step up process cares about is what you paid at the time, that's on your invoice.

Ya that sounds good, I am curious however how bad the queue is for people who have a good incling when the 1080Ti step up will come live, and get their application in within first hour or even first half day.

Anyone have experiences?

One question, So can we step up to a custom cooler card or do we have to take only the FE ?

Custom cooler maybe, but generally only if it is a reference pcb. If you look at what is offered for the 1080, you can guess that the 1080ti will be similar. So most likely we will get 2 or 3 choices:
  1. Founders Edition
  2. Evga reference pcb with blower style cooler (if they make one)
  3. Evga reference pcb with acx or icx cooler
Now nothing is set in stone until they release the cards and we get to actually see what is on the step-up list, but the ones above will be the likely options.

I am hoping one of those cards easily facilitates the Hybrid cooler after market upgrade. Was really regretting that with my 980 Ti step up. got an ACX 2.0 cooler, only to later find out the Hybrid cooler upgrade only really works on with reference blower coolers. If they don't, it'll probably just be time for me to make the plunge into custom liquid cooling. Been putting it off too long now any ways. AiO's make it so easy though XD

Gonna be hard giving up my Hybrid FTW 1080 for a blower =\

In past experiences, how does the step up actually work?

For example. If you have a 1080 SC, is the only card you're allowed to step up to is the 1080ti SC or could you step up to any of the Ti cards and just pay the difference (IE. step up to a FTW for more money or doing a downgrade to a reference clock because that might be available sooner)

From I have been reading is that you are limited to the reference card aka founders card. If Im wrong please let me know.

That is correct. They have included the SC on the 1080, but that is still a reference PCB. Not sure which they will choose this time.

You can NOT get special cards, like the FTW, Hybrid, Classified or K|ngp|n.

Question from a step-up novice regarding this.  I fully understand not being able to step up to FTW, Classified, etc, but can you step up from FTW, Classified, etc?  I just recently got a Classified and haven't installed it yet once I saw the announcement pending for the TI and want to be sure before I throw it in.

Yes, as long as the card is ourchased from an authorized retailer and you have a receipt showing the card was brand new, not second hand, you can step up from any older card, like the classifed, to a reference pcb card that is newer.

Well I'm pretty bummed, my step up program ends on the 9th. Do you guys think EVGA will honor my step up after 90 days?

Gotta play the waiting game, and then if EVGA, by some miracle, announces the step up on like, the 10th, or 11th, give them a call, they might...A week or more? Probably not.

In the past, the 90 day window hasnt been able to be stretched. Hopefully you find out more soon, but I would say to be aware of that at least.

Hopefully they will release it in the step up program before the 9th. If they don't I'm still really happy with my 1080 hybrid. But it would be nice if I was able to upgrade. Thanks for the info Scarlet-Tech.

Can I initiate a Step-Up before the GTX 1080 Ti comes out? I still have about 45 days or so on my GTX 1080 Classified, but just wondering. The button to initiate a Step-up is there on 'My Products" page.

There is nothing for you to step up to other than reference version of the 1080, which would simply be a side grade.

Yiu have to wait for the 1080ti to be added to the list before anything can be done for the step up with it.

What if they only out the FE or the reference first and not custom cooler ?

So basically if you want the custom cooler like ACX you have to wait a bit more ?

You answered your own question :-)

If they cant release the acx right away because mvidia puts the founders edition first, then everyone that wants the acx has to wait for it.

Besides doing what some people are doing idk if you do the iCX upgrade if your eligible, if the MSRP today wouldn't be effected or not or if MSRP is when you sign up for the iCX upgrade?

Here's hopes people wait a bit and choose not to get the FE edition then xD because I just want first Reference PCB avaliable doesn't matter to me since I'm waterblocking it anyway.

I'm just gonna wait till the latest possible moment (84 days, now) to see if they put up different versions.

I won't do a "day one" step-up when the Ti goes on the list, as they may put the founders edition up first, and then put an ACX/iCX version up later

Doesnt it depend on what type of card you already have and what they allow you to step up too. Currently I have the 1080 Sc2 icx but I can only go to the 1080ti founders and not a 1080ti Sc2?

It doesnt matter what card you own, the list is set with reference pcb's. They have added the SC in the past, but currently there has not been an ICX card added to the list. There should be more information in the near future.

In your experience, do they add all the eligible step up card on day one or do they slowly trickle in models through the coming months.
