I heard that the official GTX 1080 price is dropping. So is the step up cost the difference between the 1080 Ti price and the price you paid for the 1080 ($679 for me e.g.) or the new dropped price?

Doesnt it also state in stepup program you can only step up a card once? So if you stepup to ICX your not eligible to then step that card up to 1080ti?

that's the risk EVGA takes when offering this option.

I think they realize that they take a hit on this program most of the time

Hopefully brand loyalty means something then xD, and we do infact see the 1080Ti in the step up

The iCX upgrade and the price drop does make it basically a straight across trade, so its a concern.  Email I recieved from EVGA did state that They do not know IF or When the 1080Ti will be avaliab le on step up,  Equivilent to Soon.tm, but just with the added "Could maybe not be a thing".

I was on team red for past like 6-7 years, but just got a 1080 for new Ryzen build bought that in Early Feb, obviously going to upgrade to 1080Ti just need to know when I can because I now have a waterblock in the box for both cards.  Just really hope that FE or a Stock PCB edition is available.

People in Page 2 were mentioning because its a Titan Variant we might not get it?  idk there's already custom versions shown for Asus etc.

Idk 980Ti was basically a Titan X if I recall, and that was avaliable right??

(I actually have the 1080 Step up loaded and refreshable right now, and 1080 FE just was added to it? It wasn't there earlier today)

Is there going to be a 1080 ti SC version?  I'd like to step my 1080 SC to that, seeing as there was a 980ti SC.  I am a bit confused from what is being said about stepping up to reference cards.

There's no product lineup announced yet. You can't put the cart before the horse. Once the lineup is announced we can expect step up information shortly thereafter. All we have now is a generic filer page on the 1080Ti.

exactly...they're not going to announce a step up before they even announce their cards, so OF COURSE they wont tell you if it's a thing yet.

But they've never skipped a generation AFAIK, so once they unveil their cards, they'll offer the step up

In terms of the step up, does the card have to be in stock in order to step up to or can you step up whenever to get yourself in the queue?

You enter a queue, as long as all terms are met, and oncd stock comes in and you are finished with the queue, you pay, then send the old card back and get the new card.

i paid $626.99 for my 1080 FTW. still awaiting approval for my ICX upgrade. only reason im doing this ICX upgrade is to get the Ti. If evga does not honor the value of my ICX card at the $626.99, then ill probably just cancel the icx upgrade. ill pay the 100 bucks for the icx and the $73 difference to get the Ti.

as for people doubting that it will even be in step up, stop. it will. only cards they dont put in step up are special cards like titan's and or hydro blocked versions of cards. and being that nvidia stopped the $100 reference (founders) price difference. than im pretty darn sure that it'll be a part of it.

Hypothetically speaking, lets say they do announce a line up for 1080 ti.  I'm in queue for the icx step up, if they announce on the 10th that they have a line up coming out of 1080ti, should I drop my queue or proceed with it? (incase they don't announce a step up right away) will they announce right away a step up plan?  Will they have a SC/FTW/etc versions right away for us to step up and queue?

Modern psu's are modular, so there arent any extra cables lying around, just the ones you need. The ti has a 6 pin and an 8 pin, not just an 8 pin, and gpu boost 3.0 puts almost all cards at the exact same clocks, so you dont have to overclock anyway, and dont have to pay extra for the pre-overclocked cards. This has been true since the 900 series cards.

The Ti also removes the dvi port, meaning the card can possibly be turned into a true 1 slot card like the 980ti Kingpin was, which would possibly free up another mounting bracket at the back of the case if you were to use watercooling and an aftermarket i/o bracket (if one is made, which I would think there will be on).

This isnt to bash you or your post, it is to help you if you decide to do the step up. Remember, some games dont utilize sli. Single card is still the better option.

Well if it's bashing then I didn't noticed. :P Seriously tho there is something called return on investment. When factory OC card cost as much as reference it's a no-brainer to pick custom model - and I don't play with VGA OC ever. Also I didn't paid for PSU to store all VGA cables away. Especially if you go with custom cables. That's expensive addition and getting 4+ 8/6 pin cables and using only 1 that's total waste of $.

I totally don't care about SLI right now. Have to first build this thing. I will consider going SLI only if ME: Andromeda supports it in some way. That's the only thing which matters to me. Of course I have first to verify that SLI will work in 1st and last slot with all these I/O cables sticking out of MB. For now I have to cut part of the frame to accommodate horizontal USB 3.0 connector plug... Who thought of that, who... EVGA? Then do some painting of internals. Loooong way to go at this stage.

But new 850W P2 & 1080 FTW working like a dream. Just finished testing both. :thumbs up: And fan on PSu is soooo quiet - compared to 1200W model which sounds like Battle of Kursk.

Hi,

I can confirm that we do not have any information to offer at this time.

The ICX Upgrade cards will be honored at the original M.S.R.P. listed on EVGA.com at the time of their release and we are working on options for the GTX 1080 Classified customers which will be announced once available.

Thank you everyone for your patience.

Hi tke899,

I am unable to give time frames or estimates at this time. I can however assure you that EVGA has never waited 90 days from a products release date to make it available on the Step-up program, if it qualified for Step-up.

Thank you for your patience.

Re: Step up program 1080ti 2017/03/03 19:35:23 (permalink)
Hi Chris,

I was wondering if you could help me on a question. I've been dreading it but thought it would be best to get an honest answer.

I bought my gtx 1080 brand new from a private seller that had stepped up from a 980 (declined my request for the original invoice). I registered it to my account immediately and when the whole fire situation arose, evga advanced rma'd a new gtx 1080 with the pads and bios installed out the factory. They automatically registered the card to my account before they sent it out. I recently got approved and paid the 99.99 to do the icx upgrade mainly so I can step up to the ti. As I was reading the step up FAQ to control my excitement, my heart dropped when it said you have to upload an invoice and that the step up program is only applicable to the original owner. I assumed if I paid the 99.99, at that point I would be the original owner of the card that would be involved for the step up.

TL DR. I'm not the original owner of the 1080 but I was approved and did the icx upgrade. Will I be eligible to do the step up to ti? Praying for good news.

Hi,

I can confirm that EVGA will be offering the GTX 1080 Ti for Step-up, but we do not have any additional information to offer at this time.

Thanks for letting us know that at least. Being in Canada that extra little bit can make a big difference. And while I am positive that you either don't know or can't comment about it yet, it would be great to be able to get some sort of a streamlined process for us that are in the ICX upgrade queue only to be able to step-up. As it is I already paid a ton for my 2 FTWs (basically $900 each) and to do the ICX upgrade it will be about $350 (both cards together) with shipping. So if there is a way to only have to ship once, acx straight to 1080ti, instead of acx to icx to ti, it would be extremely appreciated. Shipping to the US hurts us here in Canada. And lets face it, it would be cheaper for you guys as well.

Well whatever gets sorted out, know that I appreciate even the chance to be able to step-up to the ti. You guys certainly didn't need to run that upgrade program at all. It is things like this why I have been buying your cards for many years. Hell I even get only evga cards for our work machines. Keep up the good work.

edit: @johnharring  That ICX upgrade program basically gives you a brand new card and a new 90 day step-up window. So yes at this point you would be eligible for the step-up to the ti once it becomes available (as long as it is within 90 days)

Just to clarify. the ICX cards were released before the 28th? so that would put the honored MSRP price of before the price drop the 1080 got on the 28th?
for example, the 08G-P4-6686 (ftw ICX) step up honored price will be $679.99 USD and NOT the current price $589.99 that is being shown on evga's store page?

i wish that they would offer a thing for people in Queue for the ICX upgrade an option to just step up without having them shipping out the ICX card out. ya know?  i don't mind waiting longer, i would rather do it in one transaction rather then having to send out my current card to them. then ship  out the ICX replacement back. waste of time and shipping cost imo.
