In your experience, do they add all the eligible step up card on day one or do they slowly trickle in models through the coming months.

In the past, it has been relatively close to release date. Each launch is different of course.

My FTW2 which I ordered before the Ti announcement is scheduled to arrive today.  I have submitted an RMA to Newegg to return it now I'm debating on keeping it and using it and just getting in the queue for the FE 1080Ti.  I know its ultimately my decision I'm just afraid that I paid $679 for a card and won't be able to get in on a step up.  Just need a little advice.  Should I keep it and use it till I can step up which is ultimately what I would rather do than have to deal with spamming F5 on friday trying to get one elsewhere as I really would like to stay with EVGA.

Just looking for someone to talk me off the ledge because I'm seriously losing sleep over this!

If you can live without a GPU until May, why not just return it, use that money and spend a bit more for the FTW3 that comes out in May?  The FTW3 won't be in a step up I believe.  (Heavily influenced by what Scarlet_Tech posts).

Honestly I would rather not wait a rumored 3 more months for a new card.  The only reason I was even going to return it is because I paid full price for it.  Finding out now that the step up will use my invoice price of $679 towards a stepup I would be perfectly fine with a FE 1080Ti.  I know it's been confirmed that the 1080Ti will be on the setup list at some point however am I taking a risk keeping the card knowing full well I paid only $20 less than a Ti will cost come friday?

Up to you at this point.  If I were you, I'd just pay the difference no problem between your FTW2 and the TI.  I believe there will be different versions of the TI in the step up, also, wait last minute on your 90 days to see EVGA adds any different variances of the 1080ti.  We know the FE will be there (nothing wrong with FE) and I believe maybe a gaming, and hopefully a SC one (using a 1080 SC myself).

Meaning you think it's a pretty safe bet just using the FTW2 until the 1080ti is put in the stepup list?  The only gamble it seems I would be taking is that the Ti won't be added to the list before my 90 days is up.

Hey scar, slightly off topic

but are the FE versions typically compatible with the aftermarket hybrid cooler, or only the EVGA blower style?

The 1080 had a kit for the founders card as well, but the shroud had to be replaced with the hybrid shroud so that the hoses could pass through without modifying the stock shroud.

No that's fine. Mostly i was concerned about the screw holes and the blower fan.  Main reason I couldn't put a hybrid cooler on my ACX 2.0 980 Ti was because it didn't have the blower fan. So if the FE comes available first, I'll probably shoot for that one. Then patiently wait for the Hybrid cooler upgrade kit lel.

Thanks for the input. I think I will just bite the bullet and wait for the step up to get added and enjoy the 1080 until then. Looking forward to the ti but the 1080 will get a workout till then.

how long is the longest you have seen them take? I currently have 36 days left on my step up. So i am hoping that is enough time for them to add acx coolers, or at least have the option for FE step up.

Hopefully the lack of iCX cards in stepup is due to them being in short supply due to all the upgrades. I expect the 1080Ti won't have the same stock issues. Luckily I have almost 85 days to stepup since my iCX upgrade just shipped Friday.

Anyone remember how long it was from FE release of 1080 to ACX versions came out? Also, I assume most will hold out ffom stepping up to FE version in hopes for ACX?

Hey Scarlet, or anybody who can verify whether I'm in the right spot at the moment! My card was purchased on 1/12. I went ahead and registered my 1080 GTX FTW and then uploaded my invoice picture. I also purchased the $30 extended warranty.

Back up to speed:  I went into Member > My Products > Details

Saw the following: "Start a new Step-Up. Days Left 37"

I'm assuming at this point I'm in a good position to start the step-up when I see the 1080 TI or even the 1080 TI FTW!! is added. What's the best way to keep track on this? I'm new to this website! Thank you all for your help!

Just keep checking www.evga.com/support/stepup and watch for the list to be updated to show the Ti. Scroll down until you find the list, as it is the best place to see what is available.

Welcome to the site also. :-D

Have until 24th to step up to a Founder's, then I'll be adding the EK block. I got a 1080 Hybrid at the end of Dec and have loved it compared to all-air, so I'm even more excited to go full water.

Sorry if this has been asked and I missed it...

Is it possible to stepup from a 1070 ACX to the 1070 iCX and then stepup again to a 1080Ti?  In other words can you step up form a 1070 to a 1080Ti?

In the past, you have not been able to step up from a step up card. If the iCX Cooler thing is a special promo, i don't know.

Based on other conversations in the thread, it seems as thought it will be possible.

I do know it's possible to step up from an ACX to iCX and then the Ti.  I guess what I am really asking is if I can step up from a 1070 to a 1080Ti.

It states that it opens a brand new 90 day window for step up. If it opens the window, that means you can step up.

The icx upgrade program is not a step up, it is a different upgrade. They have never done this in the past. Basically, once yku complete the icx upgrade, they made it so yku can get to the 1080ti.
