I think it is Sad that EVGA can Provide such Great Support and Programs (Upgrade & Step-Ups) for it's customers that some customers can come back with "Well it's not Enough, I want Free Graphics Cards."
This is how this Thread is now playing out (IMHO)

This just seems odd. Everyone got the iCX upgrade offer but classified owners. So they got to reset their 90 day stepup window. Seems to me that the classified owners ought to get something similar. Especially for early buyers who bought in before 120 days ago. It's really a message for recent 1080 classified owners in this context.

I think the point to note is the customers who are unhappy are the ones who have not been offered the same arrangments as all other customers. Nearly all 1070 owners and 1080 owners have now been presented with a choice and in the case of 1080 classified owners its also presented as reward for patience due to the longer wait for clarity here. The offer to upgrade or step up was one made by Evga not demanded by owners. Some 1080 classified owners have been waiting patiently with the same reasonable expectations given Evga's announcment as every other owner of a 10 series card, with no suggestion and every reason to believe they would be included and offered the same choice as any other owner.

So far and somewhat unexpectedly thats not occured, with no further information and considerable confusion as to wither the reason they were told to stay tuned, have patience is now going to happen.

I don't think the issue is one of entitlement more a case of not been given the same choice as everyone else. At the moment no options are on the table in contrast to all other owners of 10 series cards.

I think whats unfortunate is that Evga can provide an exptional level of support and programs for its customers but in this case has not been able to do so in a balanced way across the board for all 1080 customers (so far).

I am sure Evga is far from happy with this situation and would not present the same picture you paint to concerned owners, and will work do what it can within the constraints of the resources it has to hand.

I think I understand their grievances and its justifiable.  The folks who forked the most for their flagship GPU get thrown under the bus.  That doesn't make sense to me either.  Something should be done for all Classified owners if everyone else got the red carpet treatment.

I dont think its case of a grievance or that evga has thrown people under a bus. Some concern and confusion i am sure will be resolved.

No offence EVGA, but this could be the greatest marketing fail i've ever seen. You emphasize sympathy to Classified owners for not having the option of an iCX card, then give them the option to step up to another NON ICX card...

Oh, sorry you can't get iCX... here let us upgrade you to another card without iCX... If they want ICX, they don't want a FE... I am just blow away by this lol...

Am I alone here people? Why even mention iCX in the post? Unfreaking believable in my opinion.

So you would rather have $900 in a classified ICX instead of paying the $30-$40 to step up to a 1080ti FE and then just sell it? You can buy an ICX variant in the 1080ti as soon as it comes out. My guess is you will have no problem selling the 1080ti for $800. The classified didn't have all the same issues the other cards had so EVGA really has no incentive to make an ICX variant. When you spent money on the classified to begin with you didn't complain about it not being good enough. Step up is a courtesy thing. They could be like the other GPU manufacturers and just say you are out of luck and you have to pay for a new card.

I'm sorry but this post makes you seem like a child.

Childish or not. Do you agree it would have made more sense for 1080 classified users having the ability to step up to a 1080 ti SC2? They specifically mentioned the iCX that they wanted. So why give them the option for another non ICX card? Give them the 1080 ti SC2 which includes ICX...

No offence, but it’s not the same and it’s not been a child.

If I had spent less in a 1080FTW, I can get access to the 1080Ti, by just upgrading from the ACX to the iCx, and then I have the time reset to do the step-up if I want to (obvious everyone will do it).

With the Classified I don’t have neither option. I bought my card 15 of September, so I'm out of any upgrade, or any step-up.
And yes, I and some more people would probably pay the same $100 plus P&P just to step-up to the 1080Ti.

It is pretty childish when facts are that the Classified owners did Not go through the same Temperature problems, or at least not at all in the same amount as the SC and the FTW owners as i believe the Classifieds were built on a different PCB? Don't matter right now as Fact is Classy owner did Not have the same difficulties as the FTW and SC owners, that is a Fact, yet Classifieds cry foul when you have gotten' a perfect Gpu??

That is very hypocritical for anyone to say that they are being like a victim, like these people are saying.

It's not that, why even include the 1080 Classified in the program page with the stay tuned indication, then only come out and say by the way we have no icx option for you but give you and extra 30-days of step-up which only works for Classified owner's that are still in step-up period and recent buyer's if it was not affected with overheating issues.

Why make it seem like there was going to be an ICX version of 1080 Classified, should of just left it out of the program from the get go and I would of been okay with that.

But if 1080 Classified ICX is being worked on, it should have been evga saying that an upgrade program for it would be offered at a later date and ended at that till release of the ICX version.

Where have they publicly announced that there will note be a 1080 Classified ICX?

EVGA did not say they were making an ICX variant of the Classified.  Fact is, the Classified did not have the thermal issues the FTW and SC had plain and simple.  The only gripe I can see is the fact that EVGA said "Stay Tuned" on the upgrade to the ICX page for the other cards.  It was stated in such a way that was in itself misleading.  I will give you all that.  However, to say what they have offered (in this case extending step up for those still within the window) is a gracious thing.  With that, and I have mentioned this a few times in my previous posts (and so has EVGA Tech Chris B), pick up the phone or open an email and talk to them.  Now, for those who are complaining about spending the same $750 I spent in August or January to have the card price dropped in March to something to the tune of $175+ less, that's just nonsense.   New technology was released.  This is how the world works.  You don't hear the same gripes when Samsung or Apple release new phones every 10-12 months.   That would be the same as me saying when I bought my Corvette in August for X percentage off to find out Chevrolet had a better promotion in September that made the same car $4,500 less and I go back to the dealer and say I bought this car on August 31st and now on September 1st the car is cheaper, I want that rebate.  Doesn't work like that.  This just doesn't apply to the Classified but to the other cards in the lineup as well.

These are just my opinions, especially since its things I hear daily in the engineering world and with my clients.  I don't mean to offend anyone.

Yes, it was under the "TBA" category, iirc.  I misspoke the first time in this thread thinking people were being needy and greedy but I was wrong and they had the justifiable right to be outraged.  (Deleted by Mod for Personal Attacks)  If you understood the whole situation, you'd also agree and be adamant as well.

I'm pretty sure every classified owner understands the situation completely. I don't agree with people thinking EVGA should reset step up date. I also don't think the ICX should have reset your 90 day step up. EVGA also never said there was an ICX card coming for the classy. It just said stay tuned. That neither confirms nor denies they are making an ICX classified card. I'm not sure why people want to pay $100 to just put out another $75 to get a 1080ti. Then complaining that they would be getting a 1080ti FE instead of an ICX....

Also you have no room to be telling people to shut up. This is a public forum where everyone is allowed to voice their opinion freely. Just because you agree with it doesn't make you anymore right than anyone else.

EVGA did not say they were making an ICX variant of the Classified.  Fact is, the Classified did not have the thermal issues the FTW and SC had plain and simple.

"I can assure you that there is no overheating/VRM issue. The tests that were performed are not considered to reflect a real world usage environment. We performed similar tests at a higher temperature using more accurate equipment and found much different results.

Even if you owned an FTW the thermal pad modification is not necessary but just an added bonus we are offering because we would like our customers to be as happy with our products and services as possible. If you would like to install the thermal pads you can feel free to request them."

How about we wait patiently? Right now you could not buy the card (1080 Ti, or 1080 ICX Classified) even if you could afford it.

How about we wait patiently? Right now you could not buy the card (1080 Ti, or 1080 ICX Classified) even if you could afford it.

Yep. This sure is a disappointing launch....made even more so with the apparent entire launch going to step-ups and scalpers.

Okay kids...

Thank you for ordering from Newegg.com.

Search New Egg for combo deals. There was a few left with EVGA power supplies.

Hmm, well let's see if I can try and pick up on what the classified owners are feeling and why, let me know if this example corralates to what you are all feeling in this story:

Bob, Joe, and Bill are working at a company called AGVE, and the company needs 3 people to work overtime, and these three offer to do that.
Bob works 10 hours overtime, Joe works 20 hours overtime, and Bill works 30 hours overtime, and get paid time and a half, as normal.
the next day, the CEO comes in and thanks them all for their hard works, and gives  Bob and Joe a bonus of $100, while Bill gets a collectable Pen which is out of ink and cannot be refilled.

How does Bill feel?
My guess is like an owner of a 1080 classified.

I'll connect the people in a bit more detail:
Bob who worked 10 hours overtime, bought a 1080 ACX SC, he spent a little bit more (worked 10 hours overtime) and got a better card (got paid 10 hours of overtime)
Joe who worked 20 hours overtime, bought a 1080 ACX FTW, he spent more than Bob (worked 20 hours overtime) and got an even better card (got paid 20 hours of overtime)
Bill who worked 30 hours overtime, bought a 1080 Classified, he spent more than Bob or Joe (worked 30 hours overtime) and got the best card (got paid 30 hours of overtime)
all of these things make sense and seem fair to me.

The the CEO offers bonuses to 2 of the employees who didn't work as long, and then a useless item to the employee who worked the longest. (the ink ran out, aka the 120 step-up date was up)
Granted the CEO was not at all required to offer any of them any bonuses for any reason, But Bill still feels like they got slighted because they worked more, something that seems counter-intuitive.

I just re-started my Step-up again (which I cancelled after I saw this "Special Message'). Very confusing to have a "special" message for Classified owners if there is no difference and I could have just kept my original step-up started on March 10th. A lot of conflicting messages, specially when they are reiterating that we won't be able to step-up to anything else but the FE. To tell you the truth, I don't care about the stock cooler vs iCX.... I just love having EVGA branding on the top of the card and wish the stock cooler did so too.

Wait.. you didn't read anythimg, and immediately cancelled the step up? Why would that ever make sense?

Wait, I don't think you understand. What do you mean I did not read anything? I read this:

"Dear EVGA GTX 1080 Classified owners:

Thank you for being a EVGA GTX 1080 Classified owner!  EVGA understands that you have been waiting for a ICX option and we are sorry this has not become available, but in order to support our classified owners we are offering a special 120 Day Step-up option, from the original purchase date, so that you may Step-up to the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti if you choose to.

If you do own a EVGA GTX 1080 Classified graphics card and wish to Step-up, then please contact our Support at 1-888-881-3842 Option 1 or by email at Support@evga.com with the registered serial number so that we can work with you to enable this option and enter you into the queue.

Once again thank you for your patience and for being an EVGA Customer."

So tell me why I would not be confused. This message showed up 5 mins after I had submitted my Step-Up on March 10th. Tell me, what difference does it make if I have a Classified or not then if there is no need to wait for anything else but the FE? Why even mention that EVGA understands Classified owners might be "waiting for an iCX option and we are sorry is not available...." but "we are offering a special 120 day Step-up option"?

Really, you are telling me that I don't make sense for cancelling after reading that? I find that insulting. Doesn't that sound, to anyone on their right mind, like there will be a special upgrade path for people with a Classified card to an iCX option so we will extended in case you want to wait for that? If not, what was the point of mentioning any of that whole iCX stuff? Of course, as time passed and dozens of others asked clarification (I guess I am not the only stupid one), I began to realize that there is not really anything special about being a Classified owner and getting 40 more days to decide about the FE unless you had a few days left on your step-up and benefit from having a few more days to find a computer and proceed with Step-Up.

Chris could just have said "Classified owners, we will offer to extend your Step-Up to 120 days from day of purchase so that you have extra time to decide if you want to step-up to the FE card". Not the whole thing about iCX option, etc, etc.

Again, I am not complaining.... I always am and will be an EVGA fan (never own a different brand) because they are the best in costumer service and I think it is awesome that I have even the option to step-up to a 1080 Ti from a card I bought nearly a month and a half ago. But don't tell me that the message wasn't confusing.
