I bought the last year model because of the higher power limit for one. Having a cooler hybrid card was. Ice while I waited for the copper block to release.
This year seems to be another year where temps matter most for overclocking. So that bigger triple rad hybrid cooler will help more then the orher hybrid models with just a double fan rad.
Plus they higher power limit makes the difference in allowing higher clocks with that colder temp.

The Kingpin is supposed to be out in October but no mention of waterblocks yet.
There will be both a HYBRID and HC version of the KPE.
Are they being released at the same time?

I'll be skipping KPE this gen, no plans on playing with XOC benching so no point.
Also I guess I'm the only one that kinda wishes they'd ditch the OLED screen and price it cheaper.

Just speculation I'd imagine. Looking at pricing of the FTW3 Ultra over Base MSRP and previous generations KPE cards over other models prices. I too could easily see the 3090 KPE go for no less than $2200-2400

I also thought it would be around 2200$ before tax and shipping. 2500$ seems like a big jump over both the FE and ftw3 ultra but I won’t be surprised if it is true (just hoping it isn’t)

what is different for your VR set up??? i use my main rig for both, i was thinking about building a new one just for VR, but then i thought about just buying the new occulus quest, my home office really doesnt have the room for VR. Right now i have a EVGA RTX 3090 xc3 ultra, which i was just going to use for the VR and wait for the KP to come out and get that for my reg computer. Or do i just get the quest for me and daughter to play and get a new VR for my main computer..

At the time of the launch of the 3080/3090 it was said that the 3090 kingpin was supposed to be launched at the end of October. It’s still not known if plans were delayed or not and if not then yes at the end of October.

So it is late October any update on the KP cards? I would love to get a KP with a Hydrocopper. Since I have a custom loop, I would had to buy a fan based 3090 just to pull it off and throw it in the trash. Not that any real person will be able to buy a 3090 for months.

I'm ok if it releases in late November or early December. If I can't get a 3090 HydroCopper then this would be my next step up. It will just be easier to have demand go down with AMD GPU launches and NVidia 3070 Launches to drive down demand so we can get the cards we want. Although, I blame NVidia for not going 7 Nanometer TSMC and instead of going with Samsung for 8 Nanometer Fab.

The kingpin will usually have its own specific water block. Whether it be hydro copper, bykski or another manufacturer it's usually kingpin specific.
