I have the same issue. Seems to crash whenever I'm watching twitch/youtube, and never when I'm playing video games.

Edit: I'm using RTX 3090 FTW3

Any updates on if you still get crashes using those old drivers?

I'm getting crashes on my 3090 FTW Ultra from both old and new drivers(457.51). Sometimes it will just blank out both monitors and go to no signal for a few seconds, and eventually come back. However, once or twice a day it will blank out both monitors and then randomly restart my PC. 1080ti never did this. Oof.

I had the same issue, card would black screen at the desktop when browsing the web or watching videos with the display driver not responding. Screen would go black for about 3 seconds and recover. Sometimes it would require a reboot. I did everything I could down to a Windows reinstall on a spare drive, new PSU, display cables, everything. EVGA support recommended to RMA my card after trouble shooting for a couple weeks as they said it wasn't normal. I got the replacement and it did the same thing within minutes of watching Twitch. Definitely think its driver issue now (I hope anyway). I fixed mine though by setting the power management to maximum power. 5 days now with zero black screens. No debug mode I just changed the global power settings. Sucks that the card is just sitting there drawing power for nothing but it stops the driver from crashing. Really hope this gets addressed quick.

I'm on a replacement card (had to RMA the first) and this is happening on the new one.

Interestingly enough, judging by serial numbers, the replacement card is likely from the same batch as the faulty first card (there was only ~50 digits difference in the serial numbers).

I'm wondering if all of us having these issues, and our replacements for those who have already RMA'd are all from the same batch.

Just to add to the information-pile... I was having random black screen flashes since I updated my computer last month... From a 3rd Generation i5 to a 10th Gen i9, new everything including monitor, but for my old GF-760 video card... Everything was fine before the upgrade and only started getting the flashes after upgrading.

A few days ago I was in the nvidia control panel and switched to "Prefer maximum performance" which is where I normally had it but forgot to switch back after upgrading the system.

No black-flash screens since.

Just add here. Both cards dead 3090ftw3 ultra. This is pure cancer. Im running 2080ti now. Just had second 3090ftw3 to do same.

Edit: My mistake i returned same card into system. Second one is running fine. But still so frustrating. I lost entire day into this
Edit2: Both cards working there is a bug with game R6 in operator screen that cause black screen (only on that screen fans stop spinning and coil whine is insane)(my gpus crashed cos of overheat). I already posted here and on new post.

Get CRU. CRU comes with a display settings reset exe. It helped, is quick, and doesn't require a restart. And I feel like I've had this problem with evga cards and displayport on second monitors. I am convinced it is a power issue overall; it doesn't happen with one screen, but with 2/3 + vr, it happens.

No crashes since I set power management to adaptive, and disabled pciE link state in system power management profile. Idles at a reasonable temp and wattage, although the default setting of "optimal power" was better.

However this is still an acceptable mitigation if the system continues to be stable.  I would really like it if EVGA figures out the root cause at some point and explains what is happening.

Nope, i have a single 4K60 display on it, and it does happen. Only thing helped for me was also setting prefer max performance in the driver, so that the card does not downclock in idle.
Not sure about 457.51 tough, i am still on prefer max performance now.

Same thing happening to me, this is extremely frustrating, has EVGA acknowledged this yet?? Info on my case:

3080 FTW3 Ultra
Latest Nvidia drivers (457.51)
2 monitors, both go black
Always happens when I'm browsing (Firefox), I think I've always been watching a video?

Also I've had this card since early October and this didn't start happening till about a month ago, so I'm thinking a driver issue. The only other thing I can think of is I recently discovered the EVGA Precision X1 software and installed it, as soon as it launched it told me my card needed a BIOS/firmware update and after accepting the card's fans got extremely loud and the RGB on the card started flashing red while it was updating I guess? I remember it making me nervous but apparently it updated fine, is this normal?

BIOS version: 94.02.26.80.70
Firmware: 2.1.1.4

The PX1 software... i mean, it could be. I am using it too.
What speaks against this theory, that i see a lot of other complaints of the same issue, but other brand cards. For example reddit, or nvidia forums. I dont think they all use PX1.

Anyone here has R6 Siege installed. If you have 3090 ftw3 ultra please can you go to operator list and check if your fans spin and do you hear coil whine and feel heat ramping up. It only happens on this game and only operator list everything else is fine. This thing caused black screen on my 3090s. I left pc for 10-15 minutes running on operator list and GPU overheated (both of them with NVLink). Fix was discharge electricity from both cards and running perfect again. Tested on second system too with strees tests. I will try to test it on 2080ti but i need to download game. Btw when this happend i didnt have any red lights poping just black screen and fan 100%.

Mine too but can you see if your fans spin.
Im also using pref max preformance nvidia settings.
Game work fine every other tab in game (shop, playing, putting attachemnts etc...) only operator list screen cause that.
Only this game other games run fine and fans spin.
Also im not using custom fan curve only OC bios to have aggro fans

I can confirm the latest patch didn't fix this issue. EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra here. So upsetting knowing such an expensive card is having this problem. Still no statement from EVGA?

Can also confirm that problems persist with the latest drivers. Setting max performance solves the problem but then the card is in 60 degrees in idle..Did not have this problem with gtx 1080 . Ramdom black screen at the desktop when browsing the web. Had the same problem with rtx 3070 msi gaming x trio and now with 3080 ftw 3 ultra.

I tried everything i follow each event in events viewer.
The problem occurred every hour or less.
I accepted the issue at least it happens just 1 or twice every hour.
Btw in the event viewer i dont get nvidia driver fail just random fails.

The problem is, that you are mixing up the black screen in games issue, with the black screen tdr-s while browsing on idle. The two things are not the same.
Instability under load in games could very much indicate a faulty card, but anyone who has idle TDR issues in browsers, wich also results in black screen, has it completely stable in games, and this is a driver fault.

mine just died as well 20 mins ago (3090 ftw3 ultra).  First, it was losing signal to the monitor / tv and nothing would recover it except for a restart. This happened 8-10 times over the last week or two. Tonight, i attempted to restart and have no signal, fan movement, or rgb.  just one single red led near the power connectors ( was using 3 individual cables for power just to note).

tried a different PCI slot- no luck.  checked all plugs- no luck.  just stuck in an old 1080ti ftw3 hybrid and works just fine.  just sent a service ticket.

for reference: classified k z-379 motherboard, 8700k, evga 1000w power supply, and card was not overclocked. always ran the bios switch in the normal position.

Still having this problem with my 3090 FTW3 ultra on latest nvidia drivers. No overclocks, fresh format install of windows.
0-4 times a day, when on desktop or browsing (it also happens with battle.net launcher), computer locks up for a brief moment, then black screen for 3-15 seconds, fans spin up on card momentarily, then back to desktop with event viewer entry saying the nvidia driver stopped responding and recovered.

Going through the motions with EVGA support at the moment. Wondering if i should take it back to the place i bought it from for RMA.. It would be a while before i get a new one and cyberpunk is out in 3 days :O
I think i might just try the workaround with the power level.. see if any drivers fix it down the line.

I had the same problem with my RTX 3080 on the previous NVIDIA driver where the GPU would crash and restart my pc only during idle, surfing the web, or watching a youtube videos. After update to the newly released driver using clean uninstall driver using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)(also disable internet before the DDU process is very crucial I did this same process without disabling my internet the crashing problem persist)(windows tend to automatically install older NVIDIA drivers that you don't want when your computer restart after DDU uninstall process), it seems to fix the problem so far no crash for a couple of days. You should download the latest NVIDIA driver to a folder first Since the NVIDIA team address this issue and seem to attempt to fix it with this new Driver.
First, you should disable your internet then enter Safe Mode and use DDU to uninstall the driver once your computer restart makes sure the internet still disable then install the NVIDIA driver that you downloaded after installation finish then you can enable your internet again. Hopefully, this will fix your crash problem good luck! Also, there was a fix by switching from optimal power in NVIDIA control panel to maximum performance but after what I did above seems like the crash gone even on optimal power.

Just for info chaps - I have a Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity and I am having the same issue after moving from a 2080.

Safemode removal of drivers has resolved the issue for me. Clean install of windows will sort also.

Just wanted to chime in as I am having the same issues with the 3090 XC3 Ultra, I set my TDR delay to 8 seconds as per EVGA tech support advice, and still experienced crashed. I am now testing it at a 10 second delay, but I'm not expecting anything much better. Also anyone more informed on this forum want to let me know what the risks of setting an extra long TDR delay (from 2 seconds to 10 seconds) can be?

Just a question, since new 460 drivers doesnt seem to fix it either.

Can anyone else in addition confirm, that removing the driver with ddu in safe mode, disabling internet, so that windows cant update to some **** drivers, then clean installing the new driver SOLVES the issue, WITHOUT the need for prefer max performance setting in the driver, AND also enabled Hardware Acceleration in the browser? So no more black screens after days?

I am just seeking for confirmation, because i never had to do any of the above things in the last years, simple driver updates via GFE always worked... so i very much doubt, that the issue is really lieing there, but i keep seeing similar posts...
