rangerscott Im still on the fence ordering one.
If you haven’t ordered. Don’t. 4000 around the corner.
What kind of advice is this? "4000 around the corner." Meaning what? That you're magically going to get a 4000 series card that's going to beat the kingpin on day one? Then that your rig is upgraded enough to support it? Then that you will also magically get a water cooler for that card on day one? Many people don't switch out GPUs with every new generation. Some people want to build a loop and let it run for several years or generations. If that's rangerscott's case then it might be worthwhile to look into this block if he already has a KP.
Chill out.
Sick response man. Really got me there! I was certainly put in my place /s 🙄

two updates. 1. Optimus contacted me and wants the block back so they can examine it and offered a refund. (I am leaning towards the ceracote baking/warping theory on the thin full cover backplate) 2. EVGA customer support is sending me a complete set of fresh OEM precut thermal pads for the original hydrocopper block and backplate for just a small service fee! once again, EVGA has never once let me down. I feel like I got caught cheating on the wife by pulling the EVGA HC block off for a younger sexier model and got caught and she still forgave me! HAHAHAHHA. Thanks for real EVGA. also, Optimus working to immediately make it right counts for me. Hopefully my experience will improve the product for others going forward.

I used the full backplate thermal pad from Optimus with the stock EVGA backplate and it appears to be working well. Optimus wasn't going to be able to reuse the pad, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I took a more careful approach for disassembly, so mine was more or less intact. My Optimus KP block did leak, so I was very intentionally and slowly disassembling to see where the water may have gotten. I can see how yours may be more ball shaped at this point. Then there's probably no saving that one.

this is a hobby that i don't worry too much about the money. i use my gaming PC 365 days a year. golf clubs, boats, motorcycles, whatnot doesn't get close so the PC hobby is cheap if you really biol it down. the optimus block is beautiful and i bet if you get a flat one it is epic on the kingpin.

howdyho1 I have to figure out which tester to buy. I'm leaning towards the Bitspower digital leak detector - anybody have any experience with that?
I have the alphacool and EK leak testers. Both seems to work fairly well, but the EK pump is a littler more user friendly. Haven't seen the Bits digital one, but I'd probably just stick with analog, no need to get too fancy.

The two small red squares that’s circled in blue are not die mounting points. They’re just there to mount the acrylic to the backplate. The two screws above the two red squares that’s circled in blue is the correct die mounting points.

They were notified of this error (when they redid the installation manual) at Overckock.net forum and they did not fix it. Just shows their lack of CS.

Slowly getting there. Space is limited.
I started out planning my Kingpin build in a O11XL case which I had been using with a custom loop and a Optmus water blocked 3090 FTW3. I give you credit for trying to get all that performance into the mini case. For mines it was a bit too tight for what I wanted once I got the Kingpin in there and how it came out appearance wise. I looked for another option for what I wanted my PC to come out like and decided on a rebuild entirely. I didn't like how close the gpu block ports were to the CPU and how much it covered up the Mobo. In the end, I decided on a full change going from the 5950 to the 12900k with DDR5 ram. I'm still working on this as time permits, but I've recently actually started working on my own pc after being delayed for a variety of reason which included builds for other people. This current build is based in a Phanteks Enthroo Pro 2 case. The case is pretty large and is designed around having multiple mobo's in the case. I tried to max out the space for rads and it currently has two slim 360mm rads, one medium thickness 360mm rad, and one medium thickness 480mm rad. The cooling capacity of this setup should be much more than I could use but I figured I'd use the space. The planning for this build took a bit of time since there are not too many builds with a full custom loop that I've seen that I liked. Seen a bunch of dual mobo builds, but finding ones with custom loops with max capacity cooling have been hard to come by. The picture of my build is pretty much almost complete except I'm planning to change out the Optimus CPU block with the new EK Velocity 2 block due to flow rate restriction concerns and then I need to do the gpu. In the picture I am pressure testing what I have connect so far which are all the rads, temp sensors, pump/res combo, along with all the fittings and hardline tubes. The system with what is connected to the loop passed the pressure test. Now I'm just waiting on the new CPU block to come in and then take out the Optimus cpu block and replace it with the new EK Velocity 2. I am still trying to decide what to do with the Kingpin to be honest. I'm not sold yet on it not leaking causing other issues. My build actually should have 64gb of DDR5 6000 ram, but for loading and initial runs I plan on only using the 32gb that is shown. Once I get the the OS and other things installed I will then work to add the additional 32gb of DDR5 ram. There has been some info posted about 64gb of DDR5 ram posted, but I think it should be fine once I get into bios and make a few adjustments to the settings and voltages. But the gpu is driving me nuts. I had to RMA my kingpin after I got it in the loop. It ran for a couple of hours after the loop was connect and then took a dump. Took apart the gpu and had to send it back to EVGA which covered the replacement. I still lack confidence in the seal of the block but Optimus did send me replacement plates which were black for my use. I moved over all the parts from my silver finished block to the new black ones and they are currently sitting in the box. My Kingpin is also sitting in the brown rma box from EVGA waiting on testing. Have the current users of the Kingpin Optimus blocks been able to maintain a seal with the blocks for the kingpin? My original nickel plated Optimus 3090 block is solid and the Optimus 3080 FTW3 block conversion I did for my son's white build which was also cerakoted has been solid so far after 3 months.

Hello Everyone, I have made some updates to the tracking spreadsheet. It looks like the shipping lead times are starting to go down, which is a good sign. I am assuming a 1st of the month order date and delivery date just to simplify things. Also, if you see your name on the list: 1. Let me know if you want it removed, I got some of them from this thread. 2. If you can provide me your order date and order number, I can add them to the list. Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19qtHSW4lDVWK-skwolVmUHvsrdrfuQQ_ZJN5YtkG9xw/edit?usp=sharing Thanks, J
