For one. The second I applied torque to the GPU die screws the teal ones at the bottom pop out. 2 you have to apply torque to get the back and front blocks to align to install the serial block.

I know its a bish.. on my ek blocks I had to totally loosen the rear block screws just to get the port block to line up with both cards.

A video showed thst you may want to loosen the backside bottom screws for it to line up.. naw all on mine haha

Of course... Actually the instructions to a T use vague and subjective terms light lightly and firmly. I used a precision inch pound torque drive so I could be exact on attempt 2 and 3. Same result. The teal screws are too short once you start to seat the main block on the GPU die.

Let's see how they handle my return request.

I'm really curious to see how your customer service experience goes here.

I was really considering an Optimus gpu block for my current build I am working on, and have been watching them closely over the last 6 months and it seems like they don't have very many people working over there.

Not much from them in terms of product updates. They seem to have delays and inventory issues.   On top of what you are saying, I will likely hold off and just go with an EK block.

EK has an actual torque spec and sells a driver set right to that spec.  whats so hard about that?  My rifle scopes have a spec.  my jetski sparkplugs have a spec, if torque is a factor provide an actual spec.  "Firmly" don't cut it chief.  6 hours and $600 later I am trying to jest get back to where I started with the HC block and spent more money on new thermal pads/putty.   At least I will have a clean HC block with geiled pads now so there is that upside.

if nothing else, perhaps ill save someone from the pain, or maybe optimus has a solution.  It sill can't mount in the 16x slot no matter what, and you can't get to the PCIe latch even if the block mounted ok.  Mine came out of the box with a gouge in the worst possible spot as well.

ASUS Z690 Extreme made a button off the side of the mb to unlock the pcie slot for situations like this when u can't get to the lock normally.

i have torn this block down three times and cannot get it to line up and seal even if I surrendered it to the bottom 8x slot or bought a new case with a riser.  There was a tiny gouge from the outlet right out of the box and I assumed it would seal but it really just wont.  Failed the airleak test in 5 minutes.
'''
Going to email Optimus and ask to return this.  what a terrible product.  To be fair, on the kingpin block page it states "EVGA motherboards dark/kingpin with large coolers not tested"......  but why?

It should say not compatible without a riser cable or something.  I am kicking myself for busting off that z690 pcie lock and removing my HC waterblock.  Even worse, I had a spare HC block I sold when the Optimus shipped.....   Seems I am on a roll here.

How were you able to game and experienced flickering, when it failed the air leak test in 5 minutes (assuming because of the gouge)? I’m confused…

I got it assembled and installed on round one. Just did my standard power supply jumper leak test for a few hours and started gaming. When I pulled it out for round two I could see moisture past the serial port gasket, tore it down and broke out the air leak tester for rebuild 2 and 3.

I saw the gouge but it was tiny. I normally don't use the air leak tester unless there is a problem. I should have obviously.

One issue is the heat pads deformed on round one and it's really a one shot deal. Especially the full cover backplate one.

Wow. I went back through this thread and saw a note from someone that got a warped backplate. Ran down to the bench and mine is unbelievably warped. I can lay it flat and teeder.toder it. No wonder I was hitting these tolerance and clearance issues.

I'm just glad my gaming and stress runs showed issues so I broke it down before a sleeper leak built up a drop right at the top of my vertically mounted kingpin. This $600 problem could have been worse in a day.

What kind of advice is this? "4000 around the corner." Meaning what? That you're magically going to get a 4000 series card that's going to beat the kingpin on day one? Then that your rig is upgraded enough to support it? Then that you will also magically get a water cooler for that card on day one? Many people don't switch out GPUs with every new generation. Some people want to build a loop and let it run for several years or generations. If that's rangerscott's case then it might be worthwhile to look into this block if he already has a KP.

can you have inlet and outlet both on the same side like the new EKWB block coming out (ekwb is not for kingpin)?

can anyone vouch for the satin nickel cerakote on the v2 block?  have a heatkiller which is working great but I like the signature v2 a lot.  the cerakote is making me hesitate.

Not sure it matters since the entire CPU block is a single piece of solid brass, and the cold plate is raw copper. It looks like the cerakote on the V2 might only be on the outside so it shouldn't really impact anything, it appears to be more just aesthetic than anything else. I have the original nickel-coated V2 block with copper cold plate - seems they aren't offering the nickel finish now though, but it's a good CPU block.. heavy too, lol.

Meh, won't fit the KP Ti, and for the 4000 series, rather have the 5090.

I hear they will skip the upper end 4000's and go straight to the 5090.

I'm in the que for the KP Ti, will be interesting to see how it'll stand up against a 5090. Q4 take my money!
