Oh man, they're getting close. I think there's probably only one batch in before ours Jsunn. Maybe we're even in the next one. I might even not have to go through the rigmarole of changing my address with them for shipping.

Sucks they didn't work out - plenty of potential, but no cigar.

Keep seeing more and more people with refunds being processed. Anyone here has their block working out? I have the block but not confident in the seal. Wont know until it's assembled so this is one of the reasons I'm dragging my feet on my new build.

Block working fine here. Not a single issue and mine was the first block out the door.

the first thing I would check out of the box is the flatness of the backpate. the tolerance for getting the blocks perfectly aligned to facilitate the connection of the serial block is tight. I could not apply any torque to my screws without another screw popping out. I never checked my backplate until I was fed up and reread this entire thread. Saw comments about warped backplate and checked mine. His was warped convex, mine was concave, but same issue. I do agree with the thought that ceracote heat baking could have lead to the warping. Ive had it do odd things on guns so why not. other than that, It wouldn't fit into the top 16x slot on any of the 5 modern motherboards I own because of VRM heatsinks, but seems that most people are using offset risers because of the massive weight anyway so probably a non issue. I should add two awesome customer service notes again. 1. Optimus support was great and absolutely no hassle. They wanted it back so they could see what went wrong. 2. EVGA was amazing and sent me a complete thermal pad rebuild kit for my HC block for a couple of bucks. Personally I always expect problems on the bleeding edge. If companies work with me on these problems I have no issue.

Good experience so far for me. Took my time and followed the instructions carefully. My backplate was almost perfectly straight, it have an ever-so-slight concave shape but very minimal and almost not noticeable. No PCB flex after install. I don't have a pressure tester but I ran the loop for a few hours with the jumper and no leaks. It was a little tough expelling all the air out of the block but I rocked the system around and eventually got it all out. Performance so far is beyond my expectations. My setup is 2x 420mm Corsair rads (HWL rebrands) KPE block, Sig V2 CPU block, and the Optimus res/pump combo. Did some brief initial testing and a few runs on port royal and was north of 15,800, max GPU core temp was mid 30s, pulling 600-610w. There's more in it for sure, haven't crashed it yet and it seems it's not breaking a sweat at these power levels. Water temp at the start of the run was 20C. My prior best score was 15,302 on the stock CLC/AIO. I'll post some official benchmarks and more photos once I get it polished. And yes, I've added a GPU support bracket since I've taken this photo

Those are some killer temps and gets me hyped for mine, barring any defects lol. My hydrocopper pegs around 47-50*C on Port Royal, basically the same the AIO gave me.

Thanks for the replies. Often we only see the negatives so I wanted to reach out and see if I should take the chance again. I was one of the first to convert but I did have issues with the cold plate and leaks there. Optimus did respond and in the end they did replace my blocks with new black ones to help address the concerns about the leaks I had with my original silver block. I will be working to convert my block soon as I am cleaning up most of my cable management in my build now. Pretty much figured out most of the cable runs last night since the Enthoo Pro 2 case I am using is a bit tight on the back side. I'm looking forward to actually finishing my Kingpin build as I got my Kingpin back in July 2021 and sat on it waiting on the release of the Optimus block until I got mines in December 2021 but then had the gpu fail on me after I loaded the OS and was getting all my other programs onto the pc. It's been going from Plan A and waiting for all the parts and stuff to put it in, then having seen while building Plan A didn't really work out as good as I hoped, then having the gpu take a crap, while without the Kingpin that was being sent back to EVGA for rma developing Plan B, and finally executing the build after getting a bunch of new parts. Thanks again for the replies. It gives me some hope that the block will work for me and that I will get to use my Kingpin in my build.

It was annoying how many comments I got about "did you follow the instructions exactly/carefully?" The blocks are really not that complicated compared to the old QUAD SLI days, this was nothing. My version of the install instructions had an error, and I had a badly warped backplate. The assembly was straightforward and simple, plus I use precision torque tools. A gpu waterblock is nothing like hand loading .338 lapuas or headspacing a 6.5mm Grendel barrel. this GPU block stuff is easy and has way more error tolerance. That said I was warped outside of tolerance. The optimus concept is great, and the backplate with the mono thermal putty was really sweet. and man did it look beautiful all filled up. Good luck guys. If your backplate is flat its a breeze.

You are correct, the instructions are not that difficult but if you don't follow them I can see where people go wrong. It does require a very specific order for tightening the screws and when you attach the inlet / outlet block to the side, you have to tighten some of the top screws to get everything to line up properly so it is certainly more involved than most water blocks.
I too load for 338 LM, .020 off the lands, 98 gr of RL33 with a 300 SMK... It's a totally different set of skills though ;)
I am actually very impressed with performance though to restate my initial post. I just dragged some sliders and ran a few Port Royal tests, had the core locked at around 2150 mhz, and memory +1500. Using classified tool. I'll try later a at higher clocks seeing temps were 34C. I'm sure if it was this easy to get over 15,800 I could hit 16,000.

My copper on the backplate had an EVER so slight concave shape, it honestly may have even been an optical illusion. I held it up to my eye facing the light and thought I may have seen it. Regardless after it has been tightened down it appeared straight as an arrow.

at some point, it doesn't make sense from a business perspective to sell a product with so many issues that more people return it for a refund than buy it

Huh, hopefully it was just a cost/profit thing not an overwhelming amount of returns that caused that. Thankfully (or not) ordered mine this month before that.

even if customers want them to fix and replace the blocks with issues, the reengineering and repairs cost money too. say they had 200 preorders, maybe 80 cancelled because of delay, then of the remaining 120, half or more had issues that required replacements or new gaskets or whatever...even at $600 a block, i bet the margins aren't more than $200 per unit with how much copper is involved. i have no concept of how much it costs in r&d time and materials to produce a block like this, but when you have that sunk cost and have to eat crow when the units leak and need redesigns...you're losing money maybe they'll fix the returned items with issues and offer them as b stock, but i'd be surprised if they sell any more of these unless they've decided to totally reengineer them to address all the issues before taking more orders. doubt that is what's happening tho, at least we've all learned a lesson here. hope that those of you with working blocks remain happy and they don't have issues down the road.

Wow pessimistic much? Where did you get your numbers from? Did you tally every person on both forums up? That wouldn't even cover the people that aren't on the forums. Where did you get your quote of "half or more" from? Considering that people that post about issues are the vocal minority in 99% of cases while the majority with no issues don't make themselves heard which is a well known and validated phenomenon? Seems like a lot of assumptions and very few facts to back them up. Seen literally maybe 10 people with issues posted and many more who haven't which makes me think they don't have any issues. That's a fact. Can't extrapolate much from it but to say that HALF or MORE of the blocks shipped have been returned with issues is ludicrous.

zippytek even if customers want them to fix and replace the blocks with issues, the reengineering and repairs cost money too. say they had 200 preorders, maybe 80 cancelled because of delay, then of the remaining 120, half or more had issues that required replacements or new gaskets or whatever...even at $600 a block, i bet the margins aren't more than $200 per unit with how much copper is involved. i have no concept of how much it costs in r&d time and materials to produce a block like this, but when you have that sunk cost and have to eat crow when the units leak and need redesigns...you're losing money maybe they'll fix the returned items with issues and offer them as b stock, but i'd be surprised if they sell any more of these unless they've decided to totally reengineer them to address all the issues before taking more orders. doubt that is what's happening tho, at least we've all learned a lesson here. hope that those of you with working blocks remain happy and they don't have issues down the road.
Can't extrapolate much from it but to say that HALF or MORE of the blocks shipped have been returned with issues is ludicrous.
of course they’re assumptions. It was an example, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are way fewer than 200 kingpin owners that also have custom water cooling and want to spend $600 on a water block for a $2000 gpu. This isn’t “gpu owners” in a queue to buy a 3070/3080. It’s a niche product for a high end niche gpu. If I sound pessimistic, Optimus is the only one to blame. I ordered 2 blocks the second they were available to order. After several months of empty promises I cancelled once it became clear the Ti wouldn’t have a matching pcb. No love lost, I have at least $1K in Optimus cooling parts in my builds, but this was a failure by any objective measure. So I think it’s reasonable to conclude them taking it down for orders is a business decision. No worries if that’s not the case. Just my opinion and it’s free. Have a great weekend
