I tried the 260.52 32bit and in 3dmark vantage I think my max frames dropped by 5-10 but my min frames went up a tad. Its still choppy in that program though.
I also tried unigine 2.1 and its much much smoother than before, it wasnt bad before but smoother. I cant recall if my high frames dropped or not.

No games attempted yet.

I would try a real world applications like games. Benchmarking doesnt mean anything when it comes to gaming. There are specific fixes for specific games in the drivers.

Well, it has to be an issue with running SLI then. Mine is a no-go with those drivers. It's perfect with the older 258.96's.

Not sure if this has ever been mentioned, but yesterday while'st fiddling around with some settings with BC2. I noticed that when I had vsync disabled I would then see my gpu usage in the high 90's on the average but with it enabled I would range from 50-70.

That how it works with... every game. The card only has to pump out 60 or 75 fps depending on your monitor as opposed to 100+

Stuttering fixed in 260.52.  BFBC2 runs amazingly now.

I had no idea how smooth the game could run.  I didn't think my stutter was that bad, but this driver has made a very obvious improvement in terms of quality and performance!

Yup, just got my 480 installed and tested these drivers and am happy to say that BFBC2 finally runs the way that it should on my system when using the GTX 480. Never seen this game run this good, even compared to my old HD 5870.

Yea, and I wonder how many people that didn't notice it before will notice how much smoother it is now.

Just wanted to shoot you guys an update here, but not sure if you read this but from another forum I found people were experimenting with the tiling and multi core options in this driver release.
Seems some reported that multi core turned on and tiling set to safe, yeilded some nice performance gains!

I tried this out and it made my vantage go up another 800points or so! give it a shot!

Its in the nvidia 3d settings in control panel. It is called like multicore optimization or something, defaults to auto and set it to on.

Set tiling to safe.

SMT Enhancements/CPU Core Enhancements

It partitions GPU Needs to each CPU Mem Cache I guess

"Simultaneous multithreaded (SMT) processors use data caches which are dynamically shared between threads. Depending on the processor workload, sharing the data cache may harm performance due to excessive cache conflicts. A way to overcome this problem is to physically partition the cache between threads. Unfortunately, partitioning the cache requires additional hardware and may lead to lower utilisation of the cache in certain workloads. It is therefore important to consider software mechanisms to implicitly partition the cache between threads by controlling the locations in the cache in which each thread can load data. This paper proposes standard program transformations for partitioning the shared data caches of SMT processors, if and only if there are conflicts between threads in the shared cache at runtime. We propose transformations based on dynamic tiling. The key idea is to use two tile sizes in the program, one for single-threaded execution mode and one suitable for multithreaded execution mode and switch between tile sizes at runtime. Our transformations combine dynamic tiling with either copying or storing arrays in block layout. The paper presents an implementation of these transformations along with runtime mechanisms for detecting cache contention between threads and react to it on-the-fly. Our experimental results show that for regular, perfect loop nests, these transformations provide substantial performance improvements."

no, its an educated statement.

if you're sensitive to microstutter then going multigpu is the worst, and most ill advised thing you can do.

ok i'v had this problem for awhile now and it was really starting to bother me in BFBC2, Crysis, Metro 2033 (maby other games i can't remember off hand) anyway while i was moving back and forth watching the stutter i noticed i was getting severe screen tare even though vsync was enabled in game which i thought oh no not another problem anyway that led me to notice these other games i'm getting this same stutter in were also having the same screen tare issue so i disabled vsync in game and forced vsync on in the nvidia control panel and disabled HPET in my bios now the game runs like butter (also it fixed the issue not just in this game but in crysis and metro 2033 aswell) using current drivers 258.96. i hope this helps

almost forgot i'm running a x58 mobo, i7 930 processor and a gtx 460. i'm not sure if this fix is limited to only my system but it's worth a try for anyone that can't wait for the new drivers

Found it at the bottom of that site:

"According to Nvidia Senior PR Manager Bryan Del Rizzo, the Geforce 260.52 Beta drivers are currently under NDA until Monday, September 13, 2010. They will be posted for download on the official Nvidia site that day at 9am EST (6am PST) along with release notes and a changelog from the prior WHQL driver release."

Not sure why SLI isn't working for some, my two 460's are running amazing! Completely max settings with Vsync and my GPU temps never hit 70c, at a steady 60 FPS (because of vsync), and my cards don't go over 60% usage!

Everything is so smooth now, I've began playing this game again. No more lag when scoping in!
