Step 1: 4/13
Step 2: 4/13
Step 3: 4/14
Step 4: 4/14
Step 5: ?

I assume they got a huge shipment of 3090 ftw3s in... Cuz hot damn they got to me fast...
I originally wanted the 3080, but seeing as the step up queue is still in September, it was definitely the move to just get the 3090 instead.

I have a step set up since October for the 3080. I bought a 3070 end of Han and set it up for the 3090 step up. So stoked

Here is my info, but I'm sure it's not that relevant since the step up for this card is moving so fast.  I actually left the queue to go back to the 3080 and then came back and I still got called so quickly (not complaining).

Step 1: April 2, 2021
Step 2:  April 13, 2021
Step 3:  April 14, 2021
Step 4:  April 14, 2021
Sent back the 3070 Ftw3 Ultra to Evga on April 19, 2021.
Step 5:  Pending

If I was those guys who just got in line for the 3080, I would leave that queue and come over to this one.  I know there is a cost difference, but atleast you get your card now versus waiting another 5-6 months and get to use it now.

If I could I would. Luckily I bought another card and was able to step up to the 3090. It’s been a good 6 months since I signed up for the 3080 step so my 90 day window closed a while ago.

Anyone who got approved for step 3's have their MSRP price changed? I bought a 3070 in February from Central Computers. I got my step 3 email but they only subtracted 679.99 instead of the 829.95 price tag I paid at the authorized retailer (Central Computers). I just sent a question to EVGA asking why this is.... anyone else have this issue or can provide an explanation? My invoice clearly states $829.95 before taxes and rebates.

They really charged you 830 before tax..

For what it is worth, they gave me a free $400 SSD (MSRP) with my full build.

I should also add this from Central Computers... Seems like EVGA should honor it if this is really the case....

We were charged higher prices by suppliers and the prices we're selling at include only an average profit margin of 10% on these cards.
We are doing our best to be fair about releasing and pricing these with a standard sort of profit margin, relative to the actual cost we have to pay. Also not requiring that they be purchased as part of a system or even an expensive parts bundle.
We're making much less on these and any early supply we get, compared to how much we could make if our goal was just to maximize profit. We wish we could charge less, but we're thankful we have any to sell, right now and paid what we needed to.

My friend and I had the same issue.  I paid 730 for mines plus tax and he paid I think around 760 for his.  They gave us the same amount of credit as you toward our new cards.  I wasn't sure if that is how it is supposed to be or not.  I guess that at the time I purchased my card, the MSRP was around the 679.99, but I had paid more than that to get the card from my local PC store.  Anyone else have similar issues or were credited an amount that was different the MSRP?  My invoice clearly showed I paid 729.99 before taxes as well and it was uploaded to the site at the time of the Step up.  The step up estimator even showed the amount I paid which I had to enter as my deduction.

Yea, it is how it is supposed to be. Found it in the very fine print in the terms and conditions on the step up FAQ page. At the very very bottom of the page... It sucks because I also bought mine from my local PC store that I really like and support. They always go above and beyond for stuff for me. I didn't realize at the time I bought my GPU that it was above MSRP because I failed to look into it and just got lucky walking in one day looking for a CPU and didn't expect to see a 3070 there and walk out with one.
The quotes in my above post from my local PC stores website explain why they are charging more. There are more quotes I did not include but are basically the same thing. One of them says they have been forced to buy EVGA bundles to get any GPUs. Bundles are bulk orders like x amount of EVGA PSUs just to get x amount of GPUs Seems like EVGA should honor the price if the reason is that these small businesses have to pay more to their supplier just to get more GPUs and increase the price just to maintain profitability. The customer always ends up getting shorted on any tariffs/price changes.

Remember... MSRP stands for "Manufacturer suggested retail price" Our local PC stores are not the manufacturer and do not necessarily have to follow the price, although they usually do except when they literally have to pay more just to get any of these scarce GPUs.

I feel for you since you since you paid even more than I did to get my 3070.  The price difference for me was like 70 bucks and for my friend it was around a hundred over MSRP.  For the two of us, I think we feel fortunate that the amount we paid was lower than other sellers who were/are selling these cards.  We also got ours pretty quick as I had to wait around 2 weeks and he was lucky that he went in with me and I had been buying a lot of stuff from them so they hooked him up on the spot with a 3070 FTW3 for 760 before taxes.  I know it was more than the msrp, but the wait times for these cards are just crazy.  It is what it is in my case.  It would have been nice if when we entered the amount we paid that it wouldn't have allowed us to enter amounts higher than the MSRP or reflect that in the estimated costs to step up.  I know it lists it as estimated, but it would have been a little more clear.  For me, the 70 bucks is not a deal breaker, but I can see how you paid around 150 plus over the msrp that it can hurt and make a difference.  Atleast we can get the cards we wanted at a cost well below what it is being sold for in the open market and we know we will have the warranty service that EVGA is known for.  Also, much less chance to get ripped off by a seller as well.  But I do know that 150 plus is a hard pill to swallow in these times so I feel where you are coming from.

With the 3090 being overkill for most games currently out, this will give us some head room and I'm thinking I'm going with the 10 year warranty at this point to maximize the use of the card and get the most out of this investment.

EVGA will only give you credit for the MSRP at the time that you bought your card. If the retailers gouge over it and you pay it thats on you unfortunately. Step up has always been that way guys.

It's interesting, the German EVGA step up FAQ page is missing such a phrase, it only has the "EVGA reserves the right to adjust the purchase price of a Step-Up eligible product (i.e. the product used to Step-Up from) to match the actual price paid after discounts or rebates, as outlined in these terms." sentence, but the "EVGA reserves the right to reduce the purchase price of a Step-Up eligible product, less any discounts, to match the current MSRP of the Step-Up eligible product." is missing.

I do appreciate the step up program.  I'm looking forward to getting my 3090 when I pull it this weekend.  I got my step 5 email, but I have to work and travel tomorrow so I don't have the time to pull it out and send it out.  I'll do that early next week.  Good to see movement here.  I was trying to get the Hyrdo Copper this morning, but I F5'd myself into a lock out screen.  I didn't get back in until almost 10 minutes late.  Oh well, I ordered a Optimus water block this afternoon to soothe the pain.  I know it's going to take a little while to get to me, but it should be faster than my queue position for the HC.

Just sent my 3090 XC3 Ultra back to EVGA via Fedex Priority Overnight. Paid for Declared Value of $1822. Only thing that bothered me was that the Fedex employee put my GPU box into a slightly larger box (medium size) and I wasn't able to watch him put the packing material in (if any) as he set up the package behind the counter. I live about an hour away from Brea but I just hope it get's to EVGA safely and in one piece!

My 3090 was "On the Way" as of 3/16 at 1206am, but my tracking hasn't changed from Anaheim, CA since then and it tells me I should receive it tomorrow so here is hoping some tracking updates occur today to validate that's happening!

Did you put your card back in the same box you received it in?

No, I was really paranoid of it it being "lost in transit" so I put the gpu into the plastic molding that it came in, into an unmarked brown delivery box, and had that box inside a fedex box with packing material. I just found out now though that according to Fedex it was successfully delivered  at 9:34am and signed for by E. EDDIE. Just hoping it wasn't damaged in any way.

So long would you guys say it normally takes for EVGA to update the "Received" status from "Pending" to "Received"? My 3090 XC3 Ultra was delivered by Fedex at around 9:30 AM PST (Signed by E. EDDIE) according to Fedex but EVGA still hasn't updated the status for my RMA.

I saw your post on the old 3090 thread so I copied it over here since that thread is largely inactive. I'm going to answer and answer your question by providing everyone an update for my whole experience.

Step 1: 2/26/2021
Step 2: 4/13/2021
Step 3: 4/14/2021
Step 4: 4/14/2021
Step 5: 4/15/2021
Shipped using UPS ground on 4/15/21
Arrived at EVGA in the morning of 4/19/21. It was marked received by them by the end of the business day.
EVGA shipped my 3090 today 4/20/21. Waiting to receive it now!

They are clear that when they receive it, it can take 1-3 business days to process it but in my case nothing took more than 1 business day besides the shipping methods. The day they signed for my 3070 was the same day they sent me an email saying they received it but it was not until the end of their work day. I got the email that they shipped my new 3090 by the end of the next business day! Can't wait to see my new card soon! My EKWB GPU block just arrived yesterday so it's all ready to add it to my loop and have my build be complete.

EDIT: Since I opted for Next Day Air Saver my Step-Up GPU was supposed to arrive yesterday but because I had work that day and I was unable to be home during the delivery time window, I rescheduled delivery for Friday and I got it today at 3:14pm. Set it up and everything works perfectly!

Excellent service guys! Thank you so much!

Re: New Unofficial 3090 Step-Up Queue Thread 2021/04/22 13:23:56 (permalink)
My info was updated this morning:

Step 1: April 2, 2021
Step 2:  April 13, 2021
Step 3:  April 14, 2021
Step 4:  April 14, 2021
Step 5:  April 15, 2021
Sent back the 3070 Ftw3 Ultra to Evga on April 19, 2021.  Shipping company showed delivered on April 21, 2021 at 940am.  EVGA email notifying me that my GPU was received by their RMA department on April 22, 2021 at 1205pm.  Now waiting on shipment out from EVGA to me.  I guess I'm going to be without a card a little longer since UPS doesn't deliver over the weekends and I took the 2 day shipping option to help save some money.  I am holding out hope that my card ships later today, but doesn't look good.

Update:  Received email on April 22, 2021 at 5pm pacific time that my new 3090 would be sent to me and got the tracking number as well.

I'm looking forward to getting that new 3090 back into my pc.

Thank you EVGA for having a great program.
