You should be able to do another step up if you have another eligible gpu.  You can only step up the gpu once.  So once you go from say a 3070 to a 3090, that's it.  Even if you went from a 2080 to a 3080, can't upgrade that 3080 through the step up again to the 3090.  Register the card within the time required and then do the step up within the 90 day limit.

hi, just a short question to user who may know or the german users like me. Sorry for hijacking this thread.
I joined the step up programm on 31/12/2021. My card is registered and the invoice is uploaded. I wish to step up from a xc3 ultra 3080 to a 3090. Since this date I'm waiting for step 2 on the stepup program. My step up id is 141763. I live in Germany.

I randomly reads some of the threads and postings here and saw that other users didn't wait as long as I do. Maybe the support is better in other countries as in germany, but my feeling is that 4 months of waiting time is a massive delay for a reaction...? Does someone know if this is a "normal" waiting time for german customers?

Any power issues with the latest batch of 3090 FTW3s? Need to decide between keep this or my 3090 FE. How is the Tjunc on the 3090 FTW3 latest batches? Thanks.

Received card on the 12th and have been dealing with frequent crashing and black screen of death. Just generally unpredictable behavior during gaming, YouTube, and video conferencing. One red light of death PSU cable crash. No mining and my machine is off when I’m at work or asleep. Hoping to have it resolved soon because normal bios is effectively unusable while OC bios crashes less often. Completely new system 5900x, x570 CH7, etc. When the card wants to work, it is amazing. The hybrid kit arrives Tuesday and I’m not installing it until I can run a program without a catastrophic restart.

I just got my new 3090 from the step up program this afternoon.  They also shipped it out a day after they got my card back.  No issues with the RMA, just waiting a some free time to hook up the power and test the new card.  I'm crossing my fingers to hope that my card is working solid.  Thank you EVGA for the upgrade opportunity.  Less than a month from the time I re-entered the 3090 step up to having it in my PC.

One more thing I'd like to share is that I didn't purchase the extended warranty when i bought my original 3070 back in January because I wasn't sure I was going to keep it.  Just prior to me getting my step 2 notification my 90 day option to purchase the warranty closed.  I was able to purchase the extended warranty on my newly received unit which started the 10 year coverage upon the date that I purchased the warranty.  I guess this card is a keeper for me, my son, or a good friend to maximize the warranty I just bought.  Just thought I'd share this.

Interesting . . . I just learned of this cool program and am wondering how it's working out for people? It seems like a way better chance than waiting for stock to appear in stores..

Re: New Unofficial 3090 Step-Up Queue Thread 2021/04/27 21:36:06 (permalink)
If you can get a lower tier card that qualifies for the step up program at or near msrp it's a great program. I bought my original card a 3070 FTW3 ultra at 50 bucks above msrp back in January.  Registered for the 3080 step up, watched it go no where so I looked at the progress of the 3090 and saw so much movement I decided to change to the 3090 in late February.  As I saw the step ups get closer to my signup to the 3090 I went back to the 3080 for a week and then re-entered the 3090 step up program in early April.  I got my step 2 email about two weeks later and then yesterday the new card came in.  If you can afford it, it is a great way to get the 3090 at msrp.

Just a few things to know, EVGA will only credit you MSRP when you purchase your initial card.  I believe it says you have to purchase the card from a authorized reseller as well.  In addition, once you get your step up notifications, you will need to send in your current card that qualified for the step up for review/trade in.  Make sure to follow the packing instructions and send it in.  Once you do that all you have to do is wait till they send you back your new card.  They only notify you to proceed once they have a card set aside for you.  I was without a GPU for a week with the shipping times from me to EVGA, processing time (two days from receipt), and then the return shipping time.

If you wonder why I went back and forth I wasn't thinking of keeping the step up card initially.  I want the Kingpin, but the timing is now off and I'm still waiting in line for the option to purchase that card.  That is why I went back and forth since I was planning on selling the 3090 and still might depending on what i want to do.  I'm kinda committed to the 3090 now since I have an Optimus waterblock on order for the 3090, but I have been waiting for the Kingpin since January.

Re: New Unofficial 3090 Step-Up Queue Thread 2021/04/29 08:10:02 (permalink)
Amazing that the 3090s are coming in so quickly.  I am thinking nVidia was making these GA102-250 chips for the 3080Ti, then decided to hard code some sort of mining limiter into the chip, and repurposed the 250 chips as 300 chips (hence the crossed out 250 and re-etched 300 on many of the new 3090 chips).

The 3090 will not get a mining limiter, so this flood of 3090s is probably the result of over-achieving, revision 1 3080 Ti chips that couldn't go into 3080Ti after all.  Either way, got my 3070 black a month before I got my step-up notification, and my card arrives to EVGA tomorrow.  Yay!

I still would have preferred the 3080, but I am getting a 3090 for less than 3080s are selling for on the scalper market!

I got my RTX 3060 (3657) today. Which cards can I step up to, and which has the shortest queue time. I can't seem to find much information on this other than the various steps the process takes. Thank you

You found it.  The 3090 FTW Ultra seems to be coming up for step-up within a month, even weeks after entering the queue.  Not sure if that will keep up, but it's likely the fastest step-up option by orders of magnitude.  Folks are waiting on 3080s from last year.

When you register your product online, you can take a look at your step up option to see what options you have.  You have 14 days from the date of purchase to register the card.  Be sure to register the card as soon as you got it if you purchased the card direct from EVGA since they start that count from the day you bought the card I think even though you didn't get it yet.  You have 90 days to do the step up once you register the card from the original date of purchase.

Before you look at the step up options, go to the product pages of the various FTW3s EVGA sells and write down those part numbers with models and it will allow you to look at what options you have.  Those listed as your options for step up are your only options to choose from.  Once you complete the step up, an email will be sent to your email address.  Keep the email for your documentation.  The 3080 models seem to have the longest wait.  The 3090 is really the fastest like I shared since they are so close from the sign up date to the current date.  The 3080 is the best bang for the buck for most, but I didn't want to wait for my name to be called in that queue.

Man, really happy for all you guys receiving your 3090s. And here I am, still stuck at step 1 since 12/28/2020 -.- I'm trying to step-up from 3090XC3 to FTW3 Ultra and I'm not sure why it's taking so long for me?

Keep an eye on your email and your product page here at EVGA.  The step up queue is close to current with the 3090 so you should be getting your step up real soon.  I'm thinking less than a month.  But no matter what it will be a lot faster than if you stayed in the 3080 step up queue.  It will hurt your wallet more going with the 3090, but you will be able to use your more capable card sooner.

I would recommend getting the extended warranty if you plan on keeping the card.  I went to the 3090 also because it should be able to be used for gaming for atleast the next 3-5 years I'm hoping.  With 24gb of VRAM and the processing power the card has, it should be enough to play AAA titles for years to come.  With that in mind, I went with the 10 year warranty for 60 bucks.  I didn't have the cross ship option because of where I live, but if you have that option you should consider it if it isn't too expensive.

Research the cross ship option and you can see if it is worth it to you.  If I had the option, I would have chosen the cross ship since they send you out the card when your rma is approved and you provide cc to put a hold on for the value of the card.  Plus they send you a shipping label so you don't pay for shipping back to evga either.

Thanks for the reply and info Gotspeed! Will keep my eyes peeled. I'm hoping you're on point about the quick turnaround for 3090's. From the sounds of it with the 3080 queue, it may be a half year or more so I'll be happy to spend a little more to wait less. How are you liking yours so far?

It's a substantial investment so I'll definitely consider that warranty since I plan on keeping it for sure. It will go into my setup which is actually pretty close to what you're running. I'll have to look further into the cross ship options as well. Thanks again! Hope you have a good day! Good luck to everyone out there getting their cards and Congrats Anonzor! Enjoy!

It's nice but crazy in a good way for you.  Too bad there's no way to track who gets your card.  they change the serial number when it goes the "B-Stock".  Mines was only 4 months old and was working great.  I had the 3070FTW3 Ultra so whoever got my card got a winner cause it was great.  Overclocks stable into the high 2000's low 2100's.  It was great gaming on that card, but my heart was set on gaming at 1440 and i wasn't sure that the 3070 would have enough power to push the frames I was targeting.

Whoever gets your card surely is lucky.

Congrats on your new card when it comes in.

Newbie here. Wanted to thank everyone who put in some info. I was originally going to try for the step up from 3060 to 3080 but I decided to go for the 3090 after seeing the posts here. Appreciate the updates all! I will pass it on with updates of my wait times. Just entered to queue today on 5/11. Hope you all get those cards ASAP!

Enjoy!

I like mines a lot.  It's a beast of a card if you are gaming.  Unless you are gaming at 4k, this gpu pushes my G7 beyond what it is capable of.  I don't have every setting maxed in cod, but it's pushing well over 300 fps at 1440p.  My monitor is only rated up to 240hz so I'm happy with the results.  I have RTX off still and one of the other settings to medium.  Other than that, just playing with the settings to your liking is the key.  Just haven't had time yet to play with the RTX settings as it took me a while to get the settings where I wanted them and I was used to it being off when I was using my 3070.

I do get worried about the failures of the 3090 though, that is why I went with the 10 year warranty.  But I'm also planning to open loop my system soon so these failures are a concern for me as I'd have to drain and take apart the system and return the card to stock for the rma process.  But overall I do like the card.  I'm pretty sure I could turn on the RTX and it would have little to no issues playing at 1440p at a high frame rate.  My vram usage during gaming is still around 12gb which is half of what the card is rated for.  Enjoy your card when you get it.

What shipping method are you using? I'm close to the Brea location as well (Anaheim) and UPS ground is showing a couple days until it gets there.
Trying to minimize downtime. Also willing to even drive there and drop it off. Not sure if EVGA will be nice enough to provide a 3090 if my card gets lost..

Really, I don't understand why the European customers have to wait for so long. Just get those GPUs to Europe! We are still in 2020 with our 3090 queue according to the last European guy who mentioned he is also waiting. Are we less important to you, EVGA?

How long does it take from shipping your gpu until you get the new card?

Depends on your shipping method you used to get your card there and what your selected on your return shipping.  Once they get your card in, they have to inspect the card to make sure there are no damages.  Once they do that, they process your request and then mail you back your card.  The time my process took at EVGA once they got the card was about 3 days total.  One day they got it, the second day I guess it was inspected and accepted and I guess because it was inspected later in the day, my new card went out the following day.  I've seen cases where the new card was sent out the same day as it was received, but the norm is more 2 to 3 days before the card leaves EVGA.  Then the return time is based on what shipping method you paid for and selected.
