Just Have to ask: Are you still planning to remove the DVI-D port on two of the GTX 1070's to facilitate single slot water cooling in order to use 5 cards in your Build?

yes, and i do not care about warranty. if one was to fail i have a 60% chance that it will be a card still under warranty, so there is that.

That's Cool, I realize a single slot solution is the only way to install the 5 graphic cards. It will be interesting to see the completed setup/operating temps of the cards and the PPD when you have finished it.

eyup, i figured i have to go all out at some point and this will be my first PC that surpasses the hobbyist level and goes into enthusiast. but alas i do have a budget ceiling else 1080 FTW is what i would have gone with, just can not drop another $1K into this for them.

So, you're just shy of 3 million PPD depending on WU, that's pretty impressive! Did you go with the X99 Classy, as you were discussing in another thread? How do you like the new case, are there some things you don't like? I'm very interested to see the progress in this project, especially the water cooling aspect. Thank you for sharing so far!! I want one. :)

Cool GTX Good overkill MB & CPU ? EVGA FTW-K and an i-7 6900K Sajin EVGA to the max. i just couldnt help to say that with this song in the back ground, https://youtu.be/FTUVjaZ3xAs?t=41s

You should get allot more points than that once you get them cool. My 1080 FTW and 1070 SC run about 1.2 to 1.5 million per day, my other 1070 SC in the other box is running 650K on average per day.

well you will have to keep in mind that all these GPU's will be running on Gen3 x8 PCI-E lanes, so there is a performance hit over running them individually. but yes once i get these puppies cooled down so they are not throttling and throw that 5th one in i think 3mill is within reach.

just got my kill-a-wat meter back from a friend and put it on this rig. its only pulling 700W while folding! i know there is only 4 GPU's right now until the water blocks are made for this card but i was still expecting to see ~900W with 4 and about 1100 with 5.

well at this rate if 1080ti's do make it to market with a 250W TDP i can replace 3 of the 1070's and still have plenty of power supply head room. i was really expecting a good bit more which is why i got the 1600W PSU... but hay, im just sitting on the peak of the efficiency curve right now

honestly with all the news on nvidia they may release a whole new series by Q2 next year. its just my opinion as to why they rushed all the GPU releases for this series.

That is what has had me not getting a another 1070 for my other rig. I figure something new might hit to compete against ATI launch this fall. If something new comes out I will put it on the rig on my desk and put the 1070 in with the other one in the living room.

welp, got my custom sleeved cables in the mail today and got them installed take a look at the before and after: now it looks a lot better but these dual 6+2pin VGA power cables from CableMod are very disappointing. with a cable specifically designed for this single purpose one would think they would have done a better job with the second 6+2pin, but its disgusting. all the cables are exactly the same length, so getting a good arch is impossible, AND they criss-cross each other non-uniformly. so, this will set me back another $50 to get the tools to fix this and remake those second 6+2pin. and i may also buy the connectors to make all them 8pin instead of 6+2pin while i'm at it.

well that's the thing, unless i wanted to spend the EXACT same $$$ to buy all the parts for making these cables myself i could have CableMod to 90% of the work for me and save dozens of hours. i knew they were not going to be 100% perfect but i didn't expect them to be as bad as they are. and i really didn't want to have 10x 8pin cables routed behind my mobo tray via extensions. still though i am waiting on EK for these FTW GPU blocks... supposedly to be released late august, that is here and nearly gone.

sigh, i was forced to remove a card due to a sporadic issue where one of the 3 upper cards would randomly decide to not throttle itself and the temp would reach 96C with a 4K rpm fan. when that fan kicked into overdrive the first time i thought something was about to explode, lol very nearly. so until EK releases those water blocks in 3 weeks, they confirmed with me it was delayed, i'll have to be sitting on it. i sold my old rig a few days ago so i can not throw it in that either :/

This is so nice folding RIG. Only you need somehow to change CPU cooler. On your configuration I would install BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3. He will fit great with graphic card because you like Air coolers. That will be great NVIDIA Based Black/Green RIG.

wow, this is interesting! even though i was getting ~2.3M PPD with the 4 i am getting about 2M PPD with just the 3. i didnt think that the upper 3 cards were throttling that much but after looking at clocks they went from ~1500-1650MHz to now constant 2000MHz. as for the cpu cooler this one is only temporary until i can get it liquid cooled along with the GPU's in a couple weeks. and that cooler that was recommended instead, it is enormous and expensive!
