Nate,
That glass bead blasting looks amazing. Do you think that it improves the cooling efficiency via increased surface area?

I would like the sandblast on mine please, looks great also black screws and the full copper look.
though i believe the only parts that really would need it is what ever would be exposed when attached to the board.

I would have to whip out a microscope to see which had more surface area.  I honestly don't think it matters too much at this level.

Haha,
Good point. Regardless, the matte finish is the business.

I too think its pretty sexy.  I can barely keep my eyes open.  Been up close to 20 hours at the moment.  Time for bed.

I'll see if I can clear coat one of the sandblasted blocks tomorrow.

If I do my SR-2 build, I would love to have a sandblasted water block made.  Would love to have a frosted look.

Well, give me a holler soon!  My machine is still set up to make them!
I am trying to get some pictures up of a completed sandblasted & clear coated block.

i JUST finished sandblasting and clear coating a piece.  You haven't figured out teasing is my MO?  remember you started all this ;)

Depending on how long it takes to dry (and how long I can stay awake for) I may either get pics up tonight, or first thing tomorrow morning.

Then maybe we can seal this 99% to 100%!

DraginElitespeaking about costs how many versions of this block do you have and whats the prices of each model?

I might be selling mine as soon as Nate ships it, sadly.  CPUs in my new SR-2 do not overclock well at all so I will likely be sticking with air for awhile.  Doesn't make any sense to water cool when the CPUs are sitting at 58C under load.

I am going to take a crack at engraving, but I don't have high hopes at the moment.  My machine has 0.02" of backlash that I have to deal with.  That doesn't really come into play with larger cuts like the block, but for fine detail work like engraving it might not look right.

It is being dealt with.  I will try it this week with my machine.  Then I plan on building a new machine ;)

Ok, you gotta make one for my x58 FTW3 board :P well, not really as I won't have money for one for a while lol....but damn it's so pretty! Hoping to get blocks for my GPU's with a 3 fan rad, I could use one of them for this pc and run it with the CPU loop :P

Sorry for double post >.> but I've worked out with Gratuitous for the engraving of the block if you can work out shipping it to him upon completion as his machine seams to be able to do more accurate work and as my ambitions for my system are a bit high would appreciate if you can work out the details with him to ship it directly. That is of course if you are unable to get your machine to do the fine work the designs i wish to use will require.

I at least want to try it one some scrap aluminum.

The new machine I am planning on building will have much more accuracy and tolerances.  This one isn't too shabby, but it was made all with hand-tools.  At least this new one I can use this CNC to self-replicate another machine.
