Does anyone know what type of fittings I need for the blocks? I assume 1/4?

Also, for the VRM stuff, can I use arctic silver ceramique since it's non-conductive and just put a tiny drop on each individual component? Or do I have to use a thermal pad for each bank of the VRM's or whatever they are called?

Unless ND changed his design tyle they are designed for Thermal Pads inplace of grease/paste

So your thinking there is too much of a gap to have the paste fill the contact point and that the thermal pad is the only way?

Any thoughts on this or am I stuck with tape. It looks like compound would work however.

non conductive compound theoretically would work, but with only 2 horizontal screws holding the vreg block down it is prone to rocking top to bottom a little bit while you connect your fittings. this could easily lead to cracked vregs if your not super carefull. the thermal pad helps cushion this a little but care is still needed when tightening and installing the blocks. the main block may have slight gaps if your board has a little warp to it. remember, these are huge boards and they never come to you perfectly flat. just use the pads, they work great.

Microcenter doesn't appear to have a great link (or any in stock in my area) any links to some pads that would work?

this works
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_971_1018_1042&products_id=25822
you can find it cheeper and in smaller quantities if you try but i recomend having both .5 and 1 mm to get it right.
I tryed the ek 1.5 mm and it works well but is a little thick under the main block, you want .5mm under there. use whatever paste you like non conductive on the big chipset chips though. those have goood contact with the mount screws in the proper place to work with the block.

Well my SR-2 died. Vreg blew when I tripped in my room and it's a long story. Looks like I've got some extra CPU's, RAM, and nateman water blocks to sell..

Unlucky dude, Is it not possible to RMA it or warranty finished?

Warranty probably is finished and I don't believe this would be covered anyway.

Wow, all I can say is sorry. That sucks big time. Maybe you can find one cheap somewhere.

I see New Egg has a "refurbished one for $314.99"  as an RX it probably has a 1 year warranty.  This is a lot cheaper than totally starting over.  Otherwise If you are serious about selling off drop me a PM.

are there any plans afoot to merge the CPU1 block with the (moset) block to the north of it.

I saw the cad designs for it but would love to see more on it. Specifically the bottom of the block and how it will work two copper bottoms? or the danger-den block with some mods into the mosfet blocks?

plans are afoot!! you will have to wait till a bit of testing is finished before the design goes public. the fluid dynamics simulation is recomending a tweek.

What do you use for the fluid dynamics simulation?

I checked out Solidworks but it doesn't appear affordable or compatible with my Systems.  The reason I ask is because I think I need to do something from the heat transfer spectrum to get better performance from my collective system.  However, If I could get analytic answers, I think it would be faster and cheaper than though the cut and try method that I have been using up to now.  I am not a mechanical engineer, and heat transfer and fluid dynamics was my most hated course as an undergrad.  This has come back to haunt me over and over during my later professional career.

oh yea, I keep forgetting to post all the pictures.  All the bottom copper portions are cut, tapped, sanded/blasted/brushed, tapped, and O-rings installed (that means they are 100% done).

All tops are cut, and countersunk, but the plastic tops are starting to give me heart ache (except the delrin & copper ones.  Those are 100% finished).  I am trying to get rid of all the tooling marks in the channels, but its not going as well as I had envisioned.  My deadline is rapidly approaching and I actually ran out of screws.  Defiantly going to be down to the last minute.  I wont even have the time to leak test them.  I am not comfortable with that, but then I can't mail the blocks until the end of August.  (I will be on orders from the 8th, until the last week in August)

I am going to spend all day tomorrow cutting the NB blocks.  I have some cut, coated and tapped, but not all of them.  This is the largest batch I have done to date.  I hate having to rush things like this and take time away from my family.

That reminds me, did you ever do that circuit board swop for the X2?  I am wondering if I can change out the board on my 7x10 lathe with the same upgrade.  That load balancing would make for some nice turning.

unfortunately I have no experience outside of solidworks to recommend. I am sure there is something available, but usually these types of technical softwares are proprietary or uncomplete. it would certainly be beneficial to map the entire system, especially if you have manifolds and subloops. I am working on 3d printed products at the moment and the reason I chose solidworks is to be industry compatible with the people I work with. I wish I was more help for you in this area.

No I haven't,  Right now I am concentrating on converting the screws on my X3 and putting the drivers and power supplies in cases.  Besides that I had to replace my Central Air so savings is somewhat depleted.   I have a 12 year Old Grandson who is  helping in the shop so I definitely want to get away from open electronics in a swarf environment.
You know I wondered about the same thing if those boards would also work on the lathe, I have a 7x12.  It was my second acquisition after the 6X4 bandsaw.

I am holding off on some purchases, as I have too many partially completed projects, and have found that in some cases I double purchased parts because I didn't remember where I put them.  Especially after the move.  So now I will wait until I am ready to use them before purchase.

I do that almost daily.  I can't find anymore 4-40 screws, so I can't fully assemble any of the blocks I have done.

Hey Clay, don't give up on the board yet. Try giving EVGA a chance. They have very good customer service, speaking from experience. Let them know that the board was your main FAH rig, and they may be somewhat forgiving.

They will just charge you to replace the components.

All but 2 VR blocks are cut.
