...with the 3080 I would actually be going backwards in vram from 11 GB to 10GB. But I will probably never need the 24GB of the 3090 for the period of time I have the card.

You should definitely do what you suggested, and wait and see. Releasing a high-end gaming card with only 10GB of VRAM right before a new console generation was a ridiculous move.

You may not need 24GB, but you will definitely need more than 10GB when the XBox jumps from 5.5GB to 13GB of usable RAM. I don't believe that AAA games will be designed for the Series X right away, but from what has been said, it will happen within 2 years, and it may well happen sooner than originally planned.

But I have a 2080 Ti as well, and even now I wouldn't want a decrease in VRAM from 11GB to 10GB. I believe it's already possible to run into problems at 4K+ and high settings, especially if true AA is used.

If the 3080 20gb is real and not a rumor then the wait would be worth it for that. I imagine it would be 1k-1200.

I can't be the only one that thinks that paying 43% more--to say nothing of 72% more--for the same card with double the ram is absurd? We shouldn't be okay with even imagining such a thing.

I don't see how a 20GB 3080 could have any additional cores. There is already no room for a 3080 Ti between the 3080 and 3090. It would be a xTi card with at best ~10% higher performance than the x80 card, which would be a joke.

It seems to me that releasing a card with 94% of the performance of the 3090 with 20GB of VRAM would effectively kill the market for the 3090--especially considering the installation issues caused by the 3090's size.

I just don't see a 20GB 3080 being anything more than a double-VRAM card. And for that, even $1000 is ridiculous. Forget $1200.

Patiently waiting to get a 3080 FTW3 Ultra but with the talk about a 3080 20GB version coming out I wonder if I am better off waiting for it? I supposed I could do the Step Up to the 3080 20GB as long as it is released within 90 days of my purchase..

The 3090 performance for price doesn't seem to be all there for me. Only thing appealing to me about it is the longevity of it being 24GB.

Has anyone found even a hint regarding the replenishment of the inventories for the RTX 3080 & RTX 3090?  This is really turning out to be the most colossal screw-ups in the history of hardware launches.  You would think, if Nvidia could develop these GPU's, they might be able to prevent the bots from buying up all of the inventory.  I'm not even sure where all of the bots are trying to sell them.  There are a couple hundred on eBay, but I haven't found others.  If you have any idea, I'm all ears.  I already bought the water block from EK, which means I need anything, but a Founders addition.  The thing that really drives me crazy is that I cannot start working on bending the rigid tubes for my custom loop because I have no frame of reference pertaining to the card placement within the case.  ARG...  I know I'm not alone... so thanks for letting me vent.

I have the 3090 XC3 Ultra (though want the FTW3 or STRIX model when they come out but none the less). I have 3 1440p 144hz screens, a 34" 1440P ultra wide, and a Pimax 5k Plus VR headset. Testing running nvidia surround 7680x1440 and 1.5 SS in the Pimax, i was able to use well over 10gb of VRAM. HW monitor left open all day showed 77% max memory usage. A 3080 10gb is a steal for $700 BUT most high end pc gaming scenarios would benefit massively from 16 or 20GB of VRAM. So having a 10-15% faster card with 24gb of vram was worth it for me. A 3090 cannot even running 144hz locked at 7680x1440 high setting in a lot of games.

Hey, similar setup here. Have you OC'd your 3090 in PX1 yet? What clock offsets are you at and what benchmark scores? My experience has been underwhelming :0

After writing that last post, I have concluded that the Nvidia launch was even worse than a monkey ****ing a football.  Apparently, anyone affiliated with Nvidia don't realize that Big Navi is launching on October 28th.  I know most people who love Nvidia, are fanatical about Nvidia, but there are tons of people out there that will end up purchasing Big Navi, simply because the performance will be close (or better in some cases) to Nvidia's RTX 3070 and RTX 3080.  They're clearly not going to come close to the RTX 3090.

As mentioned above, it seems "ridiculous to think the RTX 3090 is worth the price".  Creatively, Nvidia decided to remove all SLI capabilities on the 3080, but they left them on the 3090.  Taking this argument into account, you can either say that buying a 3090 is more "future proof"; or, you can go with the fact that when you come to the point where you need another 3090, there will be a whole new lineup of new generation cards from which you can choose.

Where are you guys checking, once a week, to see if inventory has been replenished?  Also, are there any opinions on which AIO cards are the best, particularly cards that lend themselves to an easy dismantling of casing and fans in order to break it apart the card, lending itself to an easy assembly of the water block from EK?

Would anyone from EVGA team know what the status of stock in EU is for 3090? When does shipping to retailers begin?
Saw local retailer put up EVGA's up to their list this morning, so wondering if something is on the horizon for us :)

Launch was the worst launch I have ever seen. Not only was stock stupid low. Best Buy got no cards from what i head and Microcenters had 8-16 cards each. I hate how EVGA was super secretive about the FTW launch. ASUS stated STRIX would NOT be out at launch EVGA said nothing about FTW. EVERYONE waiting in line for 24 hours was an enthusiast who makes good money. We have ZERO interest in getting a "budget" 3090. The word budget should not even be a thing for a 3090. NVIDIA markets it as a show off card yet EVGA had to make the XC cards the ugliest GPU i have ever seen and i have every gen EVGA card since 7 series. So not only did i spend a crazy amount on a GPU i got something that looks ugly in my case compared to the 2080 XC models. For 3090's there should ONLY be top tier cards. "budget" XC cards should be for lower tiers where people actually care about money. Us buying 3090's at launch wanted the best card possible and EVGA failed to deliver. I want 3 8pin power delivery and my 3090 logo to light up. So looks like ill be scalping my 3090 XC Ultra for a FTW or STRIX but after what EVGA pulled with this launch I am leaning towards STRIX.

Whoever designed the XC 30 series is a joke, whoever thought "budget" 3090's for only option on release day is also a joke. Sucks i spent 24 hours outside and spent $1,700 to get something i do not want but then i see them selling for $2,500 or more so i will make money selling my ugly card. I guess this is what they wanted. EVGA just playing games and i do not like it

Regardless of manufacturer stock is low for ALL manufacturers, but hopefully Samsung is improving the number of NVIDIA GPU die yields and quality.

OCing the XC3 Ultra has been terrible FTW3 would be better but EVGA did not release that in stores and did not tell anyone they would not be in stores. I am rather pissed at EVGA right now. Best OC i could get on the XC3 with its weak 2 8pin connector was 75 on the core and 75 on the memory is all i can get. In Timespy and Port Royale my 2x 2080 SUPER SLI got higher scores. So spending $1,700 actually lowered my benchmarks. This is 300% why Nvidia took SLI fingers off of the 3080. Dual 3080's would be the same price as a 3090 and absolutely destroy it. Granted SLI is only good if the software\drivers are programed to use it which a lot are not anymore or it is not a smooth experience. For games that do not use SLI the 3090 is awesome BUT my 2080's looked way better design wise and the RTX 2080 logo lit up unlike the XC3 3090 and my 2080's took higher OC's and got better benchmark scores. Time Spy 18,826 for 2080 Super SLI and 16,457 for 3090. Depressing i know and sad Nvidia left SLI fingers off 3080 for this exact reason. Honestly i just want FTW3 or STRIX not this "budget" XC3 crap.

I get low stock that does not give a reason for why EVGA was so hush on the FTW3 launch, why microcenter had zero FTW's (i was first in line and outside 24 hours). Andy why does the 30 series XC look like trash compared to the 20 series XC cards. ALL of this has nothing to do with stock and everything to do with EVGA doing stupid things that make no sense. Why would someone spending $1,500 plus want a "budget" card? And this is coming from someone who considers themselves an EVGA fanboy. I got the posters on my wall have always owned EVGA cards but this scenario i cannot get over or excuse.

EVGA is legit BEGGGING me to scalp the F out of this card to get a card with triple 8 pin and at least somewhat decent design.

If the performance were better than the RTX 3080, then they would clearly come close to the RTX 3090. If the performance were identical to the RTX 3080 they would clearly come close to the RTX 3090, since the 3080 is close to the 3090.

No i do not think 100mhz will make a difference. I am not a big benchmark guy. I want a top tier card because they look much better and i have overpaid on EVERYTHING to get good looks and performance out of my pc. It even sits on its on desk window facing me. The XC3 looks terrible compared to pervious gens but was the only EVGA option at launch. Also I am a big gamer and really do not care much about benchmark scores. I mainly play Modern Warfare and VR Sim Racing in a Pimax headset, neither of which utilized my SLI. With the 3090 my performance in those applications has improved A LOT over 2080 super SLI. Just do not like the only option was to buy a "budget" card on launch day that Nvidia even markets as a show off card yet all my older cards look better than this.

It does not matter I am going to camp out again or do what it takes to get a FTW3, Hybrid, or STRIX card and sell my XC3 and likely make money off of it. Sad that this is the launch Nvidia and EVGA gave us and it is super toxic and terrible for the gaming community.

No way the next model up is gona be that much better to top your old scores. You think another 100mhz or so is gona make that much difference??
KINGPIN on LN2 maybe.. Go back to 2080ti sli.

Send it back then? Think ya only got a 14 day return period. Tell them you want to exchange it for the FTW3 model.. or just do the step up and in 3-4 months they will contact you about the swap.

I don't think microcenter is likely to have a FTW3's any time soon I may go this week and see what I can figure out. Maybe they give me a voucher for the next FTW3 or strix in exchange for my XC3 plus the difference. Idk if evga would do a step a program for that maybe if I bought a 20 series. Not sure on that. I don't care what it takes or what it costs (within some reason) but spending this much I want the ftw3 or strix.

EVGA should still do the step up. It is an upgrade to a higher boost clock card and better cooling.

That's hilarious. Put a red felt or paper tongue lolling out the side of the "mouth" and it's perfect.

So EVGA, what week or month should we start pounding the F5 key to check on card availability again?
Or should I be asking the scalpers this question?

I could've sworn I read a statement somewhere about how EVGA isn't going to sell 3080s on their site for the very near future until they can make it a better experience. Can't seem to find it now, though.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about and, if so, mind sharing a link?

They're going to try and list ampere cards on EVGAs website next week depending on how revamping the checkout experience goes. Per Jacob Freeman's twitter replies.
