Honestly I figured the method with the least hassle and possibly the fastest way for me was the Step-Up program... purchased a 2070 mid Aug. and signed up for Step-Up back on the 17th so hopefully in a couple weeks I'll get the approval email and ship EVGA my card... Looked to me like a way around the Pre-Order restriction, I would be paying retail price and not supporting scalpers...
just my 2 cents...

A queue/backorder system sounds like a good idea to me but there must be some hurdle EVGA don't want us to know about b/c they seem to largely ignore it despite lots of people asking for it.

Very strange that they would restrict it. I don't really see the need unless they like the publicity of having people falling all over each other desperate for a card.

Seems like they don't want to be left holding thousands of cards that don't sell due to people spending money on other things between pre-order and actually getting a card. Imagine Big Navi is really good, and suddenly thousands of pre-orders are cancelled but you already made the cards. Imagine a shake up in the economy which causes mass cancellations.

Why is this thing so ugly? The RTX 3090 logo does not even light up at all!!!!!!!
it is like the took a 85 civic and put a Bugatti motor in it. My 1080 TI FTW3 looked 3x better and my 2080 Super XC looked 2x better.
I just spend $1,700 and got something that looks like a "budget" card. I hit up EVGA support. Why would the logo night light up? is my card broken? To me my PC is just as much a piece of art as it is gaming beast. Ive been EVGA fan boy but this really upsets me and now ii just want to scalp the card for $3,500 and get a STRIX.

i also think a lot of it has to do with AMD's big navi. allowing back-orders and pre-orders now, and let's say big navi's performance is near 3080 or on par with 3080 at $100-150 cheaper price point, you'll see a lot of people cancelling their 3080's. i personally still would go for a RTX since I have a gsync monitor.

Bought a 3090 XC3 Ultra Gaming in-person and just remembered the step-up program. Does anyone have an idea of the waiting time for stepping up to a FTW3 ultra and does anyone remember if 2080ti Kingpin cards were ever previously on the step-up program? I'd prefer to wait to step up to the 3090 KP instead if I thought it would eventually come.

 I have the EVGA 3090 XC3 Ultra. At Microcenter they had 8 XC3's and 2 TUF's. I was first in line. And do not like TUF and have always had EVGA though if i had to choose between XC3 and STRIX i would take strix. The logo i am talking about is the GEFORCE RTX 3090 logo Here is link to the image to show the difference

Might be waiting to have enough stock and enough stock coming in soon so that they can get many people a card. That's the hope.

Plenty of elite members got their cards ordsred. I was having trouble checking out using Chrome. I went to Microsoft edge, shut off anti-virus etc and did not get any Java script errors. Giving the 3090 to my brother after I bench it and waiting for the kingpin

On a side note, a friend of mine found a scalper dumb enough to sell him a card in person but my friend gave the scalper fake 100 dollar bills.
