Thanks for the links, but I don't do modelkits sadly, as said before, I prefer ed hand painting my models with Humbrol paints, never had the issue of striping etc.

But nowadays I just prefer diecast models from JC Wings, Gemini 200, InFlight 200, ARD Models, J-Fox Models, Herpa Wings or Hogan Wings.
As said Due to my pains and lack of patience I don't do model kits anymore, just don't have the interest for them and they only stress me out in the end.

Them diecast models are by far perfect for my collecting needs and I am more in to civil passenger aircraft mainly being Boeing 747's over military things, that is from an past age.

This topic is about my collection not about some odd military model kits and such, I prefer to keep it on topic here thanks.

Here's my 21st B747:

Boeing 747SP-31
American Airlines "Silver Bullet Livery 1975"
N601AA "747 Luxury Liner"
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

After obtaining it I had high expectation as I always did with all the other 20 B747 models I received, but this one was kind of a disappointment at first, it was sold as a new item thus undamaged, the seller did not state any damaged parts in their sale so yeah it all looked out fie as the sale went, until I Found out of the damaged parts on this model after some detailed inspections.

The VF Antenna on the left wing has been re-glued to it's position, the seller did not state this.
The left main landing gear's rear wheels axle is bent in in u shape, the seller did not mention this in their sale.
there are paint rubs on the nose and on the front edge of the left vertical stabilizer.

So yeah quite the bucket list of disappointments..After making contact with the seller they told me that they had this models for 3 years in stock and it was labelled in the Philippines at the time it was released.

And he wanted to refund me a measly 30GBP I of course did not agree, I was like even I could repair the damaged parts I Agreed to get a 50% Refund from the 112,65 GBP I paid them at first hand, so 56 GBP was refunded and I went with it.

Here the auction I got it from:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/...ame=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

But I did tell the seller that if they are selling an item no matter what the item is and it has defects than the seller should note those defects in any kind of sale they have, even if the item is new or not.

Anyways I won't be buying from this seller due to this less great experience.
Other than that the models looks decent in it's main display, I just kept it to save me more possible troubles, if sending it back he could get it in an even more damaged state, so yeah for all I can see I think I did do the right thing.

Here the photo's:

Here the final display:

And here the entire collection incl 21 Boeing 747's:

Paint rubs on the nose:

Paint rubs on the front rim of it's left horizontal stabilizer:

Here the bent rear left main landing gear wheel axle:

I can carefully roll it around but yeah this is depressing to certain levels:

Here from an other angle ...

Here the re-glued VF Antenna from the left wing:

This is the seller's sale of this B747SP-31 model :
bundys-aviation-books-and-models

Hereby I took photo's and screenshots of everything, I had valid evidence to get my rights to get a 50% refund and it gladly did work out:

So yeah I guess I played my cards right with this one

So they first offered me a measly 30 GBP in return:

That I didn't agree with, if they knew that why was it not listed in the sale? Odd right?

It's good I got 50% refund in the end after not agreeing with 30 GBP, I paid 112.65 GBP I got 56 GBP in return and I kind of settled the case with that.
I took use of mind over matter and agreed with it.

Anyways I do have some better news tho, as I was able to repair the badly bent right rear main landing gear's rear wheel axle with the help of my "Facom" pliers and careful bending it back to it's proper position

So here my results:

Also fixed the nose gear, which was slightly misplaced as well.

All good as you can see:

And here the final display, looks much better now

In the end it all came out well, and thankfully the seller was willing to cooperate in the long run likewise.
Only if they listed these defects in the sale as they should of done, I would of avoided it.

Yeah well repairing it did do me some good to some extent and getting 56 GBP back about 65 Euro's or 72.58 USD back, I accepted on what it is.
But then again if the seller would of listed the defects I would of avoided it as every other collector would of, the nonsense reply of it being made in the Phillipines, even if it was I had many models come from there that did not have a single scratch.

Some sellers will always try to talk their ways out of it, but I won't fall for such excuses.
they even have over 6900 feedback points but if looking at the negatives even there are only 2, the same situaion has happened to some one else.
https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=bundys-aviation-books-and-models&iid=153143060961&de=off&items=25&searchInterval=30&which=negative&interval=365&_trkparms=negative_365

So yeah that is pretty sad and disappointing to see.
I am not one that would bash sellers without a reason but with the evidence I have I will avoid this seller from now on.

Yeah better than the 30GBP they offered me at first, I mean they can always try, but I won't fall for their wishes.
Plus I am glad that my repair methods worked out for for the main landing gear & nose landing gear, it looks a lot better now and less bad.

Re: Here my Entire Model Aircraft Collection and what follows :) 2018/09/02 08:16:43 (permalink)
These American civilian jet planes are great.
Maybe I will build later only 2 as Memory on September 11... AA Flight 11 UA Flight 175 and AA Flight 77.
Their pictures are available and planes everywhere on net.

1:72 models are easier for storage but 1:48 is real deal.
I decide to write models I want and search best brands, every scale models is different brand.
I must start from something easier and than I saw Revell MQ-9 Reaper 1:48 for 19 euro in my town.
I googled and figure out Revell have best Reaper... I must find somewhere Revell Space Shuttle 1:72 04733 set.
That's old and very rear and only non military model I want to build. Space Shuttle no in 1:48. Only 1:72...

First buidling MQ-9 Reaper and 2-3 other models and than painting.
Painting is very hard for me because I'm not good to match color tones... I will buy only models of US Army aircraft and vehicles but only in their position.
Not I want F16, example Jordanian F16 with their flag and colors... Nooooo, only US Air Force and Navy/USMC.
Maybe some rear good Isreal weapons as Merkava tank or Iron Dome System, etc...

Price and storage and much harder build is 1:48.... 1:72 models are usually... In Germany 10-12... 15-16 euro...
1:48 models some I want are 20-26 euro... But best models are 40-45 euro and need at least month to build one.

What you use from tools for building models... scissors, cutters, brushes...???

Re: Here my Entire Model Aircraft Collection and what follows :) 2018/09/02 09:46:41 (permalink)
@Vlada011
If you read my topic I collect Civil aircraft @ 1:200, mainly Boeing 747's and I can assure you that a Boeing 747 @ 1:200 is easier to store than one@ 1:72 rofl.
In my old modeling days I never cared for 1:48 because all 80+ Models I had back then, they were all scale 1:72
1:72 is the real deal for me, as where larger scales were irrelevant, good luck finding a North American XB-70 @ 1:48 ...
So what you refer to as the "real deal" makes utterly no sense from my point of view.

The models I have now are all diecast ( Except the fewer modelkits I have on top of my cabinet and them jets I have they are 1:72)
Them diecast models are limited produced diecast collectors models, the one I repaired had bent landing gear, that I fixed with my Facom pliers by carefully bending them back in to their original state.

Please read my posts and you will get what exactly I did and what I used.

As posted earlier:
Anyways I do have some better news tho, as I was able to repair the badly bent right rear main landing gear's rear wheel axle with the help of my "Facom" pliers and careful bending it back to it's proper position

So here my results:

Also fixed the nose gear, which was slightly misplaced as well.

All good as you can see:

My models are between 150 and 300 Euro's all depending on rarity levels, some even exceed the 300 Euro mark, but that is a very rare case.
Diecast metal is far more realistic looking and won't yellow like plastic models will over time, plus they gain in value as well.

rjohnson11
That is very good news

Yeah it's acceptable, but I will avoid that seller for now, as it seems it's not the first time this happened , it seems that other buyers also had the same crappiness as I had.
Ah well the model looks better now, Boeing 747-100's are next which are these:

Boeing 747-124
Continental "Gold Tail Livery 1970"
N26864
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

Boeing 747-148
Irish Aer Lingus / East African Airways White Top Livery 1970"
EI-ASJ
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

Boeing 747-143
PEOPLExpress Airways "Classic Livery 1978"
N603PE "One People Heavy"
Scale 1:200
Gemini Jets 200

And yeah after that I'll see, but it will be around December I will continue, taking a break now

Re: Here my Entire Model Aircraft Collection and what follows :) 2018/12/15 12:55:30 (permalink)
Bought a whole lo more B747's so here they come :)

22nd B747:

Boeing 747-124
Continental Airlines "Gold Tail Livery, September 05, 1970"
N26864 "ROBERT F. SIX"
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200 Pre-Production Sample 1 of 10 made worldwide.
( maybe more or less, let me know if possible! )

23rd B747:

Boeing 747-4H6
Malaysia Airlines "Hibiscus Livery 2005-2008"
9M-MPD "Seremban"
Scale 1:200
B-BOX Models / Gemini Jets 200

24th B747:

Boeing 747-412
Singapore Airlines "Tropical MegaTop Livery 2005-2008" ✈️
9V-SPL (The one that did not crash)
Scale 1:200
JC Wings / B-Box

25th B747:

Boeing 747-135
National Airlines
"Golden Sun King Livery (1970-1975)"
N7772 "SUN KING"
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

Limited Edition 1 of 36 pcs (if not mistaken)

This National B747-135 I set on display with my Continental B747-124, both from 1970 make the perfect match:

26th B747

Boeing 747-238B
QANTAS Australia "Spirit of Australia Livery 1987-2001"
VH-EBQ "City of Bunbury" ️
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200
Limited Edition 1 of 240 pcs

This QANTAS B747-238B I placed with my QANTAS B747SP-38:

27th B747

Boeing 747-312 (ex-SG B747-312)
South African Airways "Atlanta Olympic '96 & Nelson Mandela Liberation Livery 1996-2001"
ZS-SAJ "Ndizani" ️
Scale 1:200
JC Wings

This one I bought in dedication to my friends from the SAA Maintenance Team
That are the following:

Ken W.
Eugene D.
Steve M.
Kent S.

And others I met and know well from SAA

Ndizani was their flying artwork which makes a great addition to my flying Artworks collection of artistically painted Boeing 747's
this livery resembles for the South African Summer Olympic Team of Atlanta of 1996 and the Liberation of Nelson Mandela.

28th B747

Boeing 747SP-44
Alliance Air "Lion's Head Livery 1995-2000"
ZS-SPA "Matroosberg"
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200
Limited Edition 1 of 312pcs

This airline company only ran for a mere 5 years from 1995 to 2000, it's part of the South African Airways Associate.
as SAA Associate goes.
So this model plays a major role for my South African B747 Display, it's Lion Head was airbrushed on the real aircraft as well this aircraft I also bought in honor of my friends from SAA as well

The final display for this one is with my SAA Ndizani:

And this is what I did with the money I earned from all the old computer parts & VGA cards I sold, these 13 B747 & 2 SST models, an Air France Concorde the F-BVFC and a Tupolev Tu-144S the CCCP-7710 and upgraded my three AMD Opteron workstations, all good here

Five of them are PVC and those are the ones I will be replacing with diecast versions of them, diecast metal is just tons better and more realistic looking that PVC aka plastic.
So the first one I am replacing is my Skymarks QANTAS B747-338 the VH-EBU Nalanji Dreaming with a version from JC Wings which will look like this:

And slowly but surely this collection which is also a 3D art gallery in the sends of a wall of translucent glass which you can look through and see the models as 3D images.
As looking in to a window of past aviation and the present.

So far it has worked out very well and has been quite the ride for the past 3 years.
This collection or art piece also explains why I sold all my old hardware and graphics cards you name it, aircraft model collecting mainly Boeing 747's is my new passions even when the models get older they will never lose their beauty nor value.
It's mainly the beauty of the models that is most of important to me, plus the history I have with them or friends of mine that flew them as passenger, pilot, test pilot or designed them bilt them maintained them you name it each model with each registration has a history connected to me.

This was something I had to do and complete and the end is almost there as the completion of this piece of my life goes.

As 3dfx goes I been there had the cards and enjoyed them, I now sold them and moved on to other interests, can't have everything but to have experienced all you have wanted this far is to me the accomplishment.
As my computers go I have three AMD Opterons two are Duallies the left & right one the middle one is a 1CPU build, still an Opteron 6140 D1 the one SadTropher got me.

Sveta SMP 2009 as a Dual 6 Core AMD OpteronDP 2435 D0 on the left
Firefox SMP 2018 as a Single 8 Core AMD OpteronMP 6140 D1 in the center
Valkyrie SMP 2014 as a Dual 12 Core AMD OpteronMP 6180 SE D1 on the right:

But yeah this is all I want to have Computer wise and maybe that will change down the road I don't know.
Just take the days as they come

I forgot about this post. I really like the collection! Really nice work.

I was married at the Pensacola Naval Air Station Officers club. It has an F - 18 painted up like a Blue Angel parked out front. If I had a choice to fly, it would be either the Dassault Rafale or the SU 34/35. Did I miss a model of the B - 58 Hustler? That was an ambitious bomber for its time. Fast with a delta wing and giant engines.

@Knightviper

Hey thanks! It did take me a while to get all of these, some exceeded the 400 USD mark due to limited production releases & being discontinued as well.
Ebay was used the most to get these, yet all in all this was well worth doing.

@Robbysites

The B-58 Hustler also had a design for a SST for passenger transport:
Here some info of the B-58 Hustler based SST named Convair Model 58-9
http://www.up-ship.com/apr/extras/58-9/58-9.htm
More pics here:
https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/cv-58-9-pics.htm

Might be something for ya, since you like the Convair B-58 it's self

Also thanks to the EVGA crew member for giving me them Blue Ribbons too

After getting rid of some of the PVC models  I went back to 26 B747's.
So I bought 3 new ones to get 29 again.

So the 27th B747 became this one from KLM:

Boeing 747-406M
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines "Air France/KLM Livery 2010-pressent"
PH-BFH "City of Hong Kong" "95 Years of KLM (2014)"
Scale 1:200
JC Wings

The 95 Years logo is only on the left front side of the aircraft:

Here all my KLM B747's together:

The new 28th B747 is this one from Ansett Australia Limited:

Boeing 747-312 (ex-Singapore Airlines)
Ansett Australia Limited "Southern Cross Star Livery"
VH-EBU "Sydney 2000 01"
Scale 1:200
JC Wings / BBOX

This one is a true gem and extremely hard to find in new state quality:

Here a closeup of it's beautiful Sydney 2000 artwork:

Here this model on it's nice metal+wooden stand:

Here the final display with the AAL B747-412 Sydney 2000 02 below it:

And my 29th B747 is this one from QANTAS Australia, one I also replaced the former Skymarks PVC release of it:

Boeing 747-338
QANTAS Australia "Nalanji Dreaming"
VH-EBU "City of Warnambool"
Scale 1:200
JC Wings

This art resembles Australia's tropical beaches & reefs, but also the Great Barrier Reef it's self

It's painted all over the body, the art resembles a coral reef with fish & sea turtles swimming about.

Here Nalanji Dreaming & Wunala Dreaming 01 together:

Here all my art style Boeing 747-300's

Here the final display of this QF B747-338 Nalanji Dreaming together with my QF B747-438 Wunala Dreaming 01:

At this moment there are 29 Boeing 747's 3 are PVC & 26 are diecast metal:

More to come after May 24th

The only thing I have model plane wise is an old Air Force thing my Dad got when he left a base...it's a B-52 being refueled by a KC-135.....

It's all silver so it's not painted properly, but it's pretty cool.

Your planes are really darn cool

Edit: It's pretty much the same as this picture

Any Air New Zealand models? Best airline on the planet imo. If you can find any old NAC (New Zealand National Airways Corp) models that would be impressive - rare as hen's teeth. They merged with Air New Zealand in 1978 and NAC ceased to exist.

Many thanks guys, and nah no Air New Zealand, I don't have much with them sadly, most of these B747's I flew on as passenger, or family & friends flew on ew as pilots with them or worked on them built them test flew them or even painted them they all have an importance background hence why I bought them.

The 30th B747 is this one:

Boeing 747-481D
All Nippon Airways "Pokemon Pocket Monsters Livery (Jan 1999 - Feb 2006)"
JA-8964
Scale 1:200
J-Fox Models

And the 31st will be this one:

Boeing 747-481D
All Nippon Airways "Pokemon Pikachu Livery (May 2004 - Sept 2013)"
JA-8957
Scale 1:200

Out of curiosity I headed over to eBay to see how hard it is to find things like your 747's and how much they can run price wise.

I ended up buying two diecast1/72 WWII aircraft myself.

Haha good job  xD and yeah some are very expensive, my National B747-135 was 345 Eur incl shipping + custom taxes from USA to NL, it's 1 of 36 made worldwide as well it's discontinued and a rare limited collectors release.
The others that were expensive were the QANTAS B747SP-38 this one was 270 Eur incl shipping & custom taxes from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to NL
Singapore Airlines B747-412 Tropical MgeaTop 287 Eur incl Shipping & Custom taxes
Cathay Pacific Airways B747-267B 234 Eur incl shipping from UK to NL
Continental B747-124 Pre-Production Sample 1 of 10 made worldwide with Black Matball logo, 267 eur incl shipping

Mos t go for around 140 a 160 Eur  the cheaper ones go for 90 to 120 Eur.
it varies a lot if it's a discontinued model being alimited collectors release, a pre-production sample or just a very wanted and searched for model that has either lots of colors on it like flying artwork or a very epic classic livery that gives B747 fans and collectors lots of good memories take national's B747-135 as great example or Singapore Airlines' B747-412 Tropical MegaTop as good examples.

Many thanks  May 24 I will now more on what else I may add them two ANA Pokemon versions is definitely going to happen as well this one from JAL as my 32nd B747:

Boeing 747-446D
Japan Airlines "Disney Dream Express 21/ #2 Sweet Livery 2001"
JA-8904 "JAL 50th Anniversary"
Scale 1:200
JC Wings

It all depends on price and all  Pokemon Pocket Monsters is certain, but Pokemon Pikachu & Disney Dream Express may happen on may 24 or June 24 all depending on price.
I'll see, either way these last three will be added to complete the collection of 32 Boeing 747's @ scale 1:200
