yeah, that's a cool one there. but you dont have to spend a fortune...unless you plan on running a vacuum pump every other day...lol like i have a 5.0 cfm dual stage pump with the fat hose. love it. and in the beginning i used it like every day...learning....now i use it from time to time.

So... I can't touch the guy in 1st on 3dm03 with the 9400GT. It's odd because my configuration is way faster than his. So this is my question: I am running 3dmark03 in XP. Good, right? (compared to Win 7) I am using 4 cores / 4 threads (hyperthreading disabled). I don't know what 3dm03 likes. Should I drop to 2 cores / 2 threads for more speed, or keep pushing it at 4 cores / 4 threads?

Like? So, how many threads does 3dmark03 use? I am wondering why I am running my 965 EE at 4.5GHz on SS when I can run my 2600K at 4.9GHz on water. EDIT: It seems that increasing the number of pre-rendered frames helps.

cudenver what temp did it get up too. just curious awalleyeguy Well it seems I killed another 2600K. But this one at least still runs up to 4.7Ghz. Yeah that one. Though I never could get it to boot above 5.6Ghz. 5.9 must have been a 1 time deal, CPU was brand spanking new then. But I have another. Don't know how it clocks yet. 90c then bsod and then would not do anything over 4.7Ghz. was at 5.6 when it puked.

Hey Rabid this looks right up your alley.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116395
Not for $50... I could probably get a used one of those for like $15 if i really wanted. I do appreciate the heads up though. I pretty much only buy 775 chips for benching on forums (or will probably hit up ebay for celerons) because any new 775 chips are so untested; there is a lot more data on older batches and whatnot, so it is easier to get an older chip that is a great clocker.

It's where you buy a lot of the same model of CPU, i.e. 5 2600Ks, test them all. Whichever can go highest is the one you keep, sell the rest at ~$30 below retail. For example, my 960 was binned from a large batch of chips, and was the best I believe, because it can do 4400Mhz on water with right at 1.33Vcore.

sb is different. this isnt like the 4 ghz club. where everyone tries to brag about how low the voltage is...lol you want to brag at how high your multiplier is, regardless of voltage. or how high your bclk is. still regardless of voltage. and sb seems to be intels way of getting sales of more chips that ever before. why? because no anyone can over clock them and compete with the big doggs with out spending 1000 dollars to do it. (speculation of course) i lucked out on my 56x and i almost sold it. till i found out that these chips were hard to come by. and that 30 dollars below retail depends on the multiplier of the chip. 279.99 + tax 304.49. and usually this chips are only take a minute or two to know it's max. when you run ss/cass/ln2/dice or anything below zero.
