Ok, i'm stumped. I have a max valid of 3967mhz on my q9300. The next guy i need to overtake at the bot is 4003mhz. I can use setfsb to get up there, but i can't get it validated. I increased the vcore, vtt, and nb volts, but i can't get a validation. Should i keep upping those volts, or is there something else i need to start tweaking? Maybe up cpu pll some more?(i set it at 1.59, stock is 1.5)

EDIT: upped pll and no change. I am really stumped now.

nice job rabid!!!

and Q you werent kidding about this chip being a good overclocker, 4.0ghz on air with no voltage, my other DO will only do about 3.4-3.5 depending on the season before it needs more voltage

Glad you like it!  I never had it under sub-zero, so I'd be interested in how it performs once you get to that point.

+1. Just counted out my cash and I've got $250 in hand + a few 1s. Also I sold my V10 to parent's for probably $120-140(which is what I paid before), and also might get a tip for building my dad a rig for Father's Day. Mom said pots/equpment for DICE is fine. LN2 no apparently.

Mhm cold... IF, I don't get into Private school for my next 2 years of HS, then I will probably save it.

well I will have to get this chip on dice first but when the 970 or the 990x comes out I may take one of you up on that.

I still need to get another decent heatsink so I can push the CO in the rig that I built for my dad last year and see what it will do

xp would probably work the best, although win 98 might not be too bad.

sad day for me cant get my ram to work at its 2000mhz, should I just settle for 1866 cl7 or should I return until I get a set that will do 2000 cl8, but it may not be the ram, maybe my board just doesn't like the sticks

Usually it's better to run with your ram as high as it can go. When around 2000mhz I run 8-8-8-22-88 or if you can pull off 7-8-7-22

I got the wprime1024 WR for q9300. 3 WR's down, 3 to go(cpuz, sp1m, and sp32m). But grr, superpi 1m and 32m are still terrible effeciency...I'll probably use xp to try and get those wr's. And i can't get 4ghz valid; it always freezes.

Well yesterday I finally updated my x58 bios to the latest version, started at 181 bclck and worked my way to 210 Vantage stable what a pain. My 920 is really picky with voltage at bclck 200 it wanted VTT of +400 ram was 2000mhz now at 210 it will take VTT of +250. At this point I needed to turn down the CPU PLL 1.45. I would like to hit bclck of 220 before trying DICE again but seems I'll have to bump up by 2 each time to get there. I got 920 hate

I have the Super Talent Chrome series 2000mhz cl8 stuff, and I finally got into windows on air at 4.2 ghz with the ram running at full speed, it took a vtt of +350 though, I hope I can get that down when i go dice

any guesses how long before a blue screen, core temps at idle 45c

Ohhhh keep me posted, if these prove to bench better than the normal full OS's I got might be making 2 new partitons on my drive . Also which version of W7 are you using for vantage 64-bit or 32-bit?

Tribbs your Vreg temps will go way down when using DICE so even if your need more volts you really shouldn't have to worry about the heat.
Word to the wise I would try and find your highest max with vantage before DICE that should give you a good starting point when sub-zero.
I did that with mine but still had a lot of tweaking to do.

Yea I got through a super pi 1m run, but am getting hard locks  and reboots in 32m, but I know it will run at least for a little bit at those speeds.

threed, I hear you next on my list is going to be finding out the max qpi I can go with a lower muilt, but I have to head to work for today but i will start playing with it tomorow

sweet. gonna go install xp now. But i'm still waiting to see if systemviper PM's me back at XS. He said he had to add a dll to Benchzowner's xp to get Gigabyte easytune6 to work.

Is there any other program i could use to tweak voltages in Windows? That's what i currently use easytune6 for.

crap. the discs i burned xp and server 2k3 to aren't bootable. ****. now i have to try and scrounge for a bootable disc or 2.

EDIT: woot, found 3 blank dvd's under a pile of manuals in a cabinent.
EDIT 2: ****. It still doesn't make it bootable. It is an iso file. Why would that be? the vista bench os and w7 bench os work fine and are bootable. Why do xp and server 2k3 not work?
